I'm more worried about Spurs getting destroyed by City in the Champions League games but getting something in the league game

Man City will definitely be the ones to blink first in this title race, those players have always had a suspect mentality (never retaining a title, being 2 up with the title won then loosing 2-3 against us, never doing it in the UCL)

Liverpool may not be as good a side and are lucking their way to wins week after week but mentally I'd say they're the stronger

I'd gladly let them knock us out of the CL to get a win in the league. The other way is the stuff of nightmares.

It was looking good tonight until the final ten mins.

The derby at OT is going to be enormous! Must win game for both clubs as it currently stands.

Your reasons for City not be as strong mentally as Liverpool are laughable.
City havent retained the title? Liverpool haven't won it in 30 years.
City blowing a 2-0 lead against us. So fecking what. They won the league by 20 points .
City have failed in the UCL, Klopp has lost 6 finals in a row.
But I do agree city will drop points before Liverpool, due to the difficult fixtures.

People keep on forgetting how much better than everyone else this City side is.

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of them winning all of their remaining PL fixtures.

We don't even have to hand City a win, their 10 times better than us. We won't beat them regardless of what's at stake.

Both sides are going to drop some points from here to the end, no idea how many and where.

Both likely to get to the CL semis and then the pressure is really reved up.

I’m worried that deep down city want the CL and Liverpool want the league so they might restvplayers in the less important if need be.

So True.
You can see the way they are playing in 1st gear , they are saving themselves for that window of those 4 difficult fixtures.

Si let's say Liverpool draws next week vs Chelsea and City wins. OT game could be crucial cause it would take them to a 3 point lead if they win vs Spurs first.
Then again if City drops points vs Palace and Chelsea wins...

I'm preparing myself for the absolute nightmare of Liverpool doing a league and European double. We'll never hear the end of it.

How's Spurs injuries looking like? They seem to be missing half the team at any one given point. Must admit City have a really tough run in, Spurs 3x with Palace and us wedged in there too. Pool comparatively do have Chelsea but Porto should be a lot easier.

I'm rooting for Spurs in the CL games all the way but I hope they lose in the league against City.

Best Case scenario (99.9% not gonna happen but...)
United win the CL and finish top 4
City win the PL
Wolves win the FA cup

Worst Case
Liverpool win the league/ City win the quadruple/ Liverpool win the league and CL. All are truly horrifying.
United don't make top 4

we won't make top 4,so we should give city the win.
Ole and players should realize this,it's stupid that if city drop points at OT,liverpool win the title.

I personally would prefer Liverpool to win the title from a novelty factor. I like the fact that it is so difficult to retain the title, and it would be pretty cool to have a 5th different team winning the title within the past 7 years.

However I accept that the reaction and media love-in (from people such as Henry Winter) will be difficult to tolerate all summer (we would need England to win the Nations League to take as much media attention away as possible), and with practically every former Liverpool player alive giving their thoughts on it.

Also it would eradicate one of my favourite footballing facts, that the only time that the Premier League trophy at has been Anfield was when Blackburn won it there. It’s currently Blackburn 1-0 Liverpool in terms of Premier League trophy celebrations at Anfield. Also back when it was named as such, I did love the joke, ‘What’s the only ship that never sails near Liverpool. The Premiership’. Plus of course two generations of the Schmeichel family have won league titles since Liverpool last won it. There has been so much golden material.

That's gone under the radar a little. Liverpool wining the PL and CL double. But some Utd fans wouldn't mind that if Utd finished top 4.
Someone get me a bucket!

City's April fixtures look incredibly demanding. They will have to rotate and will probably slip up somewhere along the way. I just hope it's in one of the cup games.

Tell you what though closest title race since United and City in 11/12.

If you think aguerooo was bad IMAGINE Liverpool coming back from 2 goal down vs Wolves at anfield to win the title with the last kick of the game at the kopp end ...... at that point I would just pour gasoline on myself and set myself on fire .

So I dont think anyone would argue that theyve been miles better than us since Fergie retired. Yet our record since then against them is 4 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses. Take out 2 Moyes losses and it's 4-2-4. It's a Manchester derby. At Old Trafford. It doesnt matter if they're a better side then us so much as we're also a good side these days and it'll be as hard of a game as City will have played all season.

Just like how Liverpool is better than us this season yet didnt create a chance at Old Trafford.

Surely Liverpool's luck will have to end some time? Let's not pretend their a seasoned professional winning side. Also they look worse this year than last.

Their league places since Klopp

17/18 - 4th
16/17 - 4th
15/16 - 8th
14/15 - 6th

Trophies - 0.

If they are going to win it, rather them win it with a couple of games to spare. Wining it on last day would be the ultimate nail in the coffin.....and let's just pray they don't have a CL final after that too.
My god.....the more I think about what might happen, they more I'm starting to feel physically sick.

I think we will beat City and open the door for Liverpool. Their run in is very simple.

Loving the Chelsea fixture scheduling, we play Tonight, away in Prague Thursday, then Sunday away against Liverpool. Toughest week of fixtures before one of the hardest away games. If I were Sarri I would make sure most of the players for Sunday don't even travel and would setup at Anfield with a false 9 like we did against City in the EFL final.

Corrected.

yeah, we have won 0 trophies in this period but we can clearly see the progress/direction and hence despite losing those finals we are happy with Mr. Klopp.

No such thing as a simple run in, United had a 'simple' run inback in 2011/12 and managed to feck it up

Our run in is similar to 2012 where we're playing teams in the to half, beat a decent Newcastle team who were in the battle for CL places, not easy, hopefully no more injuries so rotation can be used when needed

Football is ironic like that though. They looked great under Rodgers that season and didn’t win anything. Last season they were wiping the floor with opponents and didn’t win anything.

This season they’re more pragmatic and cautious which bodes well for them. I think they’ll do it by a few points.

I don't think we have a stronger mentality, but I do think we are able to react better to adversity.

Look at points won from losing positions (after falling behind):

Liverpool - 7 games, W5 D1 L1 - 16 points
City - 5 games, W0 D1 L4

They've fallen behind 5 times this season and lost 4 of those. I remember the games against Palace and Newcastle where they kept on pushing but simply couldn't score. Against Chelsea as well, they were by far the better team but once they fell behind against the run of play they couldn't impose their will on Chelsea and conceded another. City is way better in closing games out once they've taken the lead, I never expect any opponent to get something against them after they go 1-0 up. However when City falls behind, it seems like they struggle to turn things around. Hopefully for Liverpool that's what will happen in Palace, in United or in Burnley.

So a team full of players who have won the league definitely have a weaker mentality than a team that has not won anything? Interesting.

There has been interesting things said on BBC I think. It seems like City is on autopilot right now, beating teams without breaking a sweat and Liverpools every game is lika a cup final. Then again that doesn't mean City won't slip and Liverpool mentally is really, really strong right now.

I hope it'd be like when Leicester and 17/18 City won it. Not winning it by winning a game, but winning it by the other team dropping points. So they're having to celebrate it at home watching TV instead of at the stadium in front of the fans.

It's a small and meaningless thing, but anything to make their title win any less than perfect would be alright by me

I'll pick on you as it seems to be the question everyone is asking as a result of that post, what Liverpool have done historically doesn't have any baring on this side does it? This is a newly built team that haven't been together for that long - Alisson, VVD, Robertson, Arnold, Gomez, Salah, none of those players have been in the Liverpool starting XI for longer than 18 months and with the goal keeper and Gomez aside what those other players managed to do in their first season at Liverpool was get to a UCL final.

The core of City's XI though have been together for the best part of 10 years - Kompany, Silva, Aguero. Fernandinho has been there 6 years. All these players do have history of failing to retain league titles and failing in Europe.

If that wasn't enough City have lost in the league 4 times this season, 3 of which were games after taking the lead while Liverpool have lost only once and currently top the 'points after falling behind' table with 16 points gained from losing positions. Forget everything else and just looking at that and it's impossible to say that if you had to bet on who would blink first you wouldn't bet on City

There's a nice little modern hatred between Chelsea and Liverpool. I close my eyes and see Chelsea depriving them of the title yet again. Liverpool will not be able to make up four points.

Given City are currently still ‘ahead’ in the race, the flip side of that stat must be that Liverpool drop a lot more points from winning positions.. so you might react better in adversity but you’re also liable to bottling it from a winning position. Not sure which I’d rather be.
