I love to watch Barca lose. They become a dirty team very quickly. Especially Messi seems to become even smaller on the pitch, the realization of defeat in his face. The moaning and crying they did when Neymar left was hilarious. They were going to sue La Liga, UEFA, FIFA, PSG... high comedy.
I lived in Barcelona for a year in 2014. Went to one game. They lost at home to Celta Vigo 0-1. First time they had failed to score at home in 49 games or something. Celebrated like it was United winning. What a great day that was.

I can't see a way Barcelona gifts United two away goals the way PSG did. United shouldn't even be in this game against Barcelona, they will get run off the pitch.

Okay, I'm still bitter and hating a little bit....

Yes so do I, but think it will be Lingard up front with Lukaku, simply because Rashford isn't 100%.

We need to start without fear and continue that way, no matter what.
Nobody, except perhaps our own diehards ever expected us to be here, so lets go for it. I've seen more United V Barcelona games (including a CF final) than I can remember and will say they will not be looking forward to playing us. We can be at our best when no one gives us a prayer, as we proved in Paris, but we need to go for it for 90 + minutes and if its clear anyone is not giving it 100% Ole should haul them off (well three of them at least!)

Strange how Pique shared a dressing room and played alongside our current manager. No other present United player can say that.

Play Lukaku on the right, get him to hug the right touchline and stay up. Utilise him as the out ball and keep Alba pegged back or pull one of the centre halves out to keep an eye on him. They’ll have to keep Alba back if we do it correctly.

I've been on this forum like forever, I don't recall predictions were that bad. I mean, we always wanna win, but actually saying we'll lose 1-3, 1-2... I really don't remember seeing something like that

But it’s not just PSG though...We also won 2-1 in Turin....Had our 2 group games against Juve been a knock out tie, then over the 2 legs we would have knocked Juve out.Ofcourse Barca are the clear favourites, but stranger things have happened before in football.,..

If we can get a bit of luck, and if we play out of our skins with Barca having an off day, anything can happen...

Absolute excited for this one! Dont think i will be able to really focus on work tomorrow afternoon.:) I will be at the Camp Nou the other week, so i hope we can get at least a draw tomorrow.

I hope we have a go at them in the first 20-25 minutes to pick up the atmosphere, i believe the fans can be a huge factor tomorrow. Imagine Old Trafford if we score an early goal. Afterwards we should try to control the game without conceding to much dangerous counter attacks from Barca.

Easier said than done, but i truly believe that we are able to beat them tomorrow. Camp Nou on the other side will be another story:nervous:

BTW, Rashford has posted a new foto/comment on instagram. I reckon he will be able to play according to it.

Will you be playing Dalot as wing-back and Young as RCB of a back three? Herrera manmarking Messi?
Sure, we will tell you so you can counter our gameplan.:)

But seriously, there's no way Herrera is able to man mark Messi. I don't even think we will attempt that.

Yeah, I mean I'm super bitter and completely nonobjective on the matter, but even with the Juve game I felt United got very lucky to get the score they got. In both the PSG and Juve games they ended up winning, they felt like the second best team for the vast majority of those games. Sure, only the final score matters but at some point the luck runs out.

We could use a paintball gun instead.
I feel like I should

But I think a language barrier is preventing me from getting it:nervous:

Edit: I thought this was the general CL thread  now that I read the post above mine I get it..

All I know is we have to disrupt Busquet's build up play from the back. We need to put someone on him. Likewise Messi, I think MCTominay is capacity of sticking to Messi.

I would prefer this lineups: 442

Dalot - Smalling - Lindelof - Shaw;
Rashdord - MCTominay - Pogba - Martial;
Lingard - Lukaku.

Lingard needs to stick with Busquet whenever Barca have the ball in order to disrupt Busquet from building up the play. MCTominay needs to stick with Messi whenever he drifts inside and also, Rakitic in the middle. As for Pogba, he has Arthur to contend with. Rashford and Martial needs to help out the defence on the wing. I would rather we use players who can provide some threat on the wings and give Barca's fullbacks something to worry about.

Rashford has got fantastic cross whipping skills, I don't know why he doesn't use it often. Ole should drill it into his head to make use of his movement on the wings to draw out Barca's defence and provide the needed space for Pogba to exploit through his long ball which Rashford could lash on to and whip in terrific crosses into the box or cut back to the attacking forwards like Mbappe did for France at the world cup Or maybe Dalot should take the role while Rashford gets deployed in the central but I will prefer someone who can do a dirty job on Busquet in the middle and Lingard is my preferred choice. Dalot and Rashford on the wing could form a devastating combo on the right for us and exploit Barca's left wing which has the lazy Coutinho. I really don't want to see Young anywhere in the team. Maybe he can come in as a sub but not a starter.

As for Martial, he would need to checkmate Messi on the wing although Messi tends to often drift inside. Martial can also cause a lot of trouble for Barca. I don't want us to be docile at all. I would like us to give Barca something to worry about whenever we make a counter. France's 442 counter attacking setup should give us some Idea how this works. I would also like Martial to provide an option for the midfield whenever the team has the ball like Mathuidi did a lot for France at the world cup.

Not looking forward to Young give every pass away. I’ve wondered how bad we will be if we start Dalot on the right, worse than Young? I don’t think so.

United should start with Lukaku and Mata. And bring on Martial and Lingard as substitutes.

My XI will be

DDG
Young Lindelof Smalling Shaw
Matic Herrera Pogba

This is different to PSG.

A genuinely great football club coming to the home ground of another genuinely great football club. Hope we catch them well off guard and take advantage. Come on United!

I'm getting more excited for this as it gets closer. We shouldn't fear them because they're obviously a better team but instead think of the times we've beaten big European teams when they were expected to beat us (PSG, Juve, Inter). If OT is up for it and the players are at their very best then why not :wenger:
When were Inter expected to beat us?

Last night showed that anything can happen. Luck needs to go our side, and Barca need to be off their game.

We could grab a shock tonight.

Definitely agree. This Barca are nowhere near the great sides that have beaten us before and with luck and an off night for Messi (does he have those?) we can definitely win.

I don't fancy Dalot looking after Coutinho. He's not ready yet. Say what you will about Young on the ball but he's *usually* switched on when defending.

This is such a big game for our inexperienced group. I hope we can cope with the pressure. Barcelona are kinda bad with the long balls we play in the English football. If Pogba is allowed to play with freedom, i'm sure we'll have a few chances and then it is up to our forwards to finish them and get the game going. The thing with Barcelona is that, they will react to situations much better than us, we need a goal in under 30 mins to make any kind of impact in this match and definitely need Young to sit out this match if we want any chance to keep Messi quiet. It's going to be a great match.
