Brilliant that.

The thing I like most about him is that he doesn't shit himself when he has the ball and is being pressed

Best performance I have seen from him.

And Fred (despite his mind-blank moments..)

Seems that some of our players are better suited for CL.

Now that you mention it there was a lot of sad hateboner drivel on here and that does join the dots up to make sense. Well said.
Some people also don’t want to admit they were wrong. There’s still people that reckon Darren Fletcher was a weak link for us.

He showed me if we had Fletcher in 2009, we’d have won it!

In all seriousness, he was phenomenal!

21 and totally under rated on here. Helped us win the PSG away game and MOTM against Barca.
If he had an o on the end of his name and wasn’t from the UK, fans would be raving about him.

He's class. Not good enough to start for Scotland against San Marino and Kazakhstan mind you.

Excellent performance, did not let Barcelona midfield breathe and was very positive in his passing. Can easily replace Herrera next season if he continues these performances.

Really great defensive performance from him. PSG and now Barcelona he has been brilliant. Definitely deserves to be in our squad although I feel he’s still too limited to play anything other than DM when we are looking to shut up shop as he’s not at all progressive in his play.

Looked like McT to me, though I may be wrong. Looked more to me like Fred was playing the Herrera role.
Now I’m beginning to doubt myself:confused:

I thought it was the other way around. McTominay in the Herrera role and Fred the Matic role.

Good performance streak in important big games continues.

 Big Game Performer at this rate.

Finally added the aggression to his game today, which is lacking in his previous game. And a much better attacking threat. Well done.

A true Manchester United player.

Definitely has a place in our squad, replaced Herrera about as well as you could ask.

Not surprised by anything he did. Wish his amazing performance alone could make me happy when we played like that with our hands cut off by ourselves willingly. But easy to over look his temperament, concentration and basically, lack of giving a feck. Just knew what to do, when to do, at all uncomfortable places. Just oozing in class and composure. Have been on his hype train since last year when he did the exact same things, but now he is really developing as good as one could have hoped, considering how behind he was in the pecking order when Ole took over. That he is now the only silver lining right now, speaks volume for his character.

Always great to see youngster making the step up from academy. He is more confident on the ball now and is not afraid to do little dribble to retain possession.

Players like him are important for clubs, even if they are not very good one, still better to have him on decent wage then spending decent money just to have them as a squad player.

If we're going to buy a CM, they need to be alot better than Rice imo, otherwise just play this kid

Wasn’t Fred the deepest man in midfield tonight?
Of course, yes. Fred played that role last time out too

Fred the lone DLP with McTominay trying to win the ball and compete higher up the pitch. He's closer to Pogba's position than Fred's

What a player from our academy we have on our hand. He plays like he belongs to this level, while some of our senior players aka Young shite their bed in such level.
Indeed, certainly can't question his mentality, never once looked overawed. That's the attitude we need our players to have in big games, he's turning into a fine player, he should easily be starting ahead of Matic.

Fred as CDM,
McTom as RCM.

Fred - Matic role.
McT - Herrera role.

I think the confusion is because of their good understanding with each other i.e. their cooperation and McT cover Fred. Fred also attack, and when he's out of position eg. being pulled by Barca's attack, McT cover and fill up to the CDM position. I think this is only possible because Fred is given a more stricter holding role today since he can be too attacking. No doubt McT today attacks more and in a much advance attacking positions. Good working effort performances by both.

I've been slating him but recently he's improved his game. If he can consistently put up performances like that he'll be valuable for the team.

Ahh that makes sense. I was mistaken then.

Also seems to have a good attitude. No fuss, just get's the job done.

Cracking mentality, thrives in the big games and showed some real composure and awareness at times.

If he can improve his passing range a bit he could really develop into a very good player.
