We could potentially sell or lose: Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Rojo, Valencia, Darmian, Herrera, Mata and Lukaku. Add Pogba and De geas uncertain futures.

In the case of Pogba, we should keep him for another season. However, if De Gea wants to leave we need to ask for players in return. De Gea for Varane would be ideal. If Lukaku leaves we should be signing someone like Icardi. There is no way we can go into a new season with Rashford as the main striker. For the GK position I can't see us spending big if De Gea leaves, Romero for one season with a replacement the next summer could be the best option especially if we sure up the CB area.

Romero.
Wan Bissaka (40m)-Varane-Alderweireld(25m)-Shaw.
Pellegrini(26m)-Partey(40m)-Pogba
Rashford-Icardi(80m)-Martial

Other options: Brandt (21m), Lozano (40m), Sancho (100m), Rodri (60m), Skriniar (80m).

The team needs a major overhaul and we need to make smart signings. Partey, Pellegrini and Alderweireld all have release clauses. Wan Bissaka should be a straight forward purchase. Varane is the only difficult signing and if Madrid want De Gea he is the only player we should be asking in return. We should go back in for Sancho and a GK the following summer as two major signings + one depth signing. The current team needs more than just 3-4 signings. Having one summer with an overhaul can provide focus in other windows.

The rumored price (40m) for Wan Bissaka makes the Walker and Mendy transfer to City absolute steal for 50m each. It is Shaw kind of transfer all over again.

if De Gea was to go would you not ask for Courtois?

I think it's quite exciting and a proper clear out would give Ole the blank slate to build a fast exciting team

The thing is, if we properly want to invest in Ole and the future in general maybe we do need a serious clear out.

Ole seems like a modern manager, and the type to want to play a dynamic, energetic, attacking game. Irrespective of a DoF or not I would trust Ole to know the quality a club like United needs going forward.

I certainly don’t think he should have to largely make do with what he’s inherited. Perhaps a fresh blueprint is needed so he can build exactly what he wants and create something that could go forward even without him if need be.

We need top quality more than anything. It could be quite exciting once the first one or two come in.

That XI will just be a waste of money. Icardi is a poacher, he wants top quality service and that’s how to get the best out of him. Wan Bissaka isn’t that very good going forward, both Rashford & Martial won’t get the best out of Icardi due their playing style. We should spend huge on the right players who can suit to the system that we are playing and suit for the whole team not spend huge just because he has some asset as an individual.

In fact, Icardi is similar to Lukaku. I think Ole wants to play fluid with pace up front and I can see Rashford as his main choice of striker and we should spend the money on players who can improve our current squad with the likes of Rashford, Martial & Pogba

That 'home grown' quota needs to be maintained as well.

Jadon Sancho (110m): An absolute gem of a player, would fit seamlessly into our vacant right wing and can produce right away. Is young, English, is being offered a starting role for Man Utd on huge wages and has the potential to become one of the best players in his home nation league. This almost makes too much sense.
Kalidou Koulibaly (100m): While I'd like to adopt a 26 & under transfer strategy, an exception can be made in the heart of the defence. We desperately need leadership at the back, crying out for a Vidic or a Ferdinand. De Ligt may be the ideal option as he has unheralded leadership qualities for his age, but seems very unlikely. Kouliabaly seems a lot more realistic.
Bruno Fernandes (60m): Mourinho has shaped the squad into a team of physical players, and we desperately need some technicality and flair in our midfield; just look at the types of players City have. I know he's struggled before in his career (notably at Sampdoria), but you cannot ignore 15 goals and 11 assists in the league. May go under the radar somewhat and potentially be one of the signings of the season if all goes well. Has a bit of bite and aggression to him, and has excelled in the #8 role more so than the #10, so will fit next to Pogba nicely. On top of this, with Sporting's financial situation, looks very realistic.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (40m): A young, English defensive stud, would fit very nicely into the fabric of Man Utd. Although there are arguments he would stunt the growth of Dalot, they have different playstyles and would be see the pitch a lot as a 1A and 1B. Although signing a veteran like Meunier to bridge the gap until Dalot is ready makes sense, we've made too many poor signings in the past 5 years; we need to look for players who we can mould for many years to come, not stopgaps.
Santiago Ascacibar (40m): Would likely make a very similar impact to what Lucas Torreira has done at Arsenal. Utd needs a zippy, aggressive #6 who can cover a lot of ground to cover for Pogba, and to let our front 4-5 players unleash their game. A very very underrated player in my opinion, is young and Stuttgart are a selling club.

Leading to a line up for next season of:

De Gea
Wan-Bissaka - Lindelof - Koulibaly - Shaw
Bruno Fernandes - Ascacibar - Pogba
Sancho - Martial - Rashford

Now obviously this would be very expensive and hard to pull off, but we need a complete rebuild. Look at City's transfer window in 17/18; cleared out a huge amount of deadwood and spent 300m+. I'd like to see Jones, Young, Darmian, Rojo, Mata, Valencia and Sanchez all clear out, with McTominay, Bailly, Pereira and Matic on the hot seat. We need to evaluate our players to a top 6 standard - if Phil Jones or Ashley Young played for another team, would we be interested in signing him? Absolutely not. We need players at the Utd level, and it needs to be ruthless overhaul.

That game just brought home exactly what we need.

RB, A CB that's comfortable on the ball to pair with Lindelof, a ball-playing midfielder, and a right-sided attacking threat.

Meunier, Koulibaly/De Ligt/Skriniar, Neves/Fernandes, Sancho is the sort of thing I would aim for.

Even though only a year or two one, fees have gone up a fair bit. I disagree though, Mendy we can discount as barely played. The Walker fee was laughed at by many at the time, turned out to be a good deal. Bissaka is a far better right back than Walker was at the same age and purely defensively I would argue not far off of him now.

Anyway, I know he has had a lot of bad periods here (lets not forget the injury and bad treatment he has had from Mourinho).......but Shaw has been one of if not our best player this season, judging on that, why would that make the Bissaka deal so bad? We have signed Darmian, Rojo and Blind as full backs lets not forget.

I think people will be changing there minds of Bissaka in a year or two if we get him, think he is already quality and has real world class potential myself

Barely know Fernandes, though did realise saw him playing in Italy years ago, so cant really comment much on him. Great shout on Ascacibar though, followed him since the Olympics. I think he woul dbe a bit of a gamble, culturally to be honest.....but has the potential I think to be a huge star for us and a real fans favourite as so much energy, aggression and heart and he is a very intelligent player to, great positionally.
I really think we need two centre backs though myself and that even with a major clear out....bar Pogba leaving, we cant fund all of these. Sadly JOnes and Young must be going nowhere as they have signed new contracts and none of those names for your clear out will bring in much money.

For me, I would like to see Bailly, Matic and Lukaku added to Darmian, Mata, Valencia, Sanches and Herrera is bound to be off I feel.....that could bring in £150m odd and add a £200m warchest, for me it would be ideally:

2 out of Koulibailly/ROmagnoli/Upemecano
(De Ligt isnt happening)....that pretty much the £150m spent from incoming transfers, if Koulibaily is one

Bissaka No brainer, perfect signing for me £40-50m
Rice or Ascacibar £40/50m

The thing is, pretty much only £100m left and we do have the likes of Greenwood who seems similar to Sancho and Gomes as a potentially excellent central midfielder. I think it depends on the faith the management have in these two for next season. Would love Sancho, but I think if we sign him and these other targets....thats the business done, otherwise we could still sign the like of Ndombele or even Fernandes you mention if we went for say Lozano or even Zaha.
I basically think even with a clear out, there is probably too much to do spending wise in one window unless we manage 2/3 surprise fairly cheap (£40m sadly being fairly cheap i todays market) signings like Ascacibar OR sell Pogba, which I would rather not......nit invested well not the disaster many think it would be, more worried of losign DeGea myself

Sign the following - Kalidou Koulibaly or Aldervard, Ndombele, Jovic (must have, next great striker) experienced RB(Meunier), Brooke's or Fernandes. We should hold off buying someone like Sancho as Greenwood is going to every bit as good within 12 months. We should bring back Tuanzebe, he's improved greatly under Terry's coaching.

Finally on board the AWB train. Thought we could rely on dalot and Shaw but young is so atrocious that I feel we need 3 good full backs for rotation and injuries. Dalot can also play further forward if needed, they will all get games.

Also feel better about rice. If he isn't good enough at DM there is a chance to convert him to CB. Reduces the risk of the transfer.

6 first team players.

And all 6 of them should be on the top 8 of our squad, quality wise..

I'll say it again and again, our first team and squad is absolutely shocking. We are closer to relegation than to winning the league IMO.

I think we should hold off buying Jovic with Mason showing great promise. Jovic is a exceptional young striker no doubt, but not needed if we believe Mason has similar potential. Sancho we should sign if possible.

Greenwood is a kid, Jovic is scoring goals for fun. If Lukaku leaves then we simply can't afford to start the league with just one striker especially since he's hardly a natural scorer at all. So I'd say lets bring Jovic and lets see how things pans out. If Greenwood does well then we can either sell Jovic or move Rashford on the flanks.

We literally aren't. We're 20 points from being tied for top of the table and 30 from relegation.

But we do need at least 5 first team players:

Martial/Rashford-Signing1-Signing2
---------Pogba-----Herrera----------
-------------Signing3----------------
Shaw-Signing4--Lindelof---Signing5
--------------De Gea------------------

Lukaku
Martial/Rashford
Lingard
Fred
Mctominay
Matic
Dalot
Smalling
Romero

could compete for the league. Need to replace Herrera if he goes, obviously, which would indeed be 6.

At this point, i'm cool with letting Pogba have his "dream move" to Real if we can get Varane in return. I think Koulibaly is too expensive for his age.
I would definitely get Alderweireld for his £25m clause. That's our new starting CB pair sorted, with Lindelof and Smalling our main backup/rotation options.
We badly need at least one fullback - Wan Bissaka would be great. Let Dalot rotate with him whilst he beds in. Young, assuming he doesn't leave, can sit behind Dalot in the pecking order.
Plenty of other options available for fullback too, if we don't get Wan Bissaka then we could target Florenzi, Meunier, Hysaj, maybe even Carvajal.
Central midfield will need a lot of work, if we do lose Herrera and if Pogba is indeed moved on. I think we should be all over Rabiot on a free.
Lots of other names mentioned here too, namely Veratti, Rodri, Saul, Partey, Tielemans, Bruno Fernandes, Brandt, Rice.
We'll obviously need a Pogba replacement if he goes, someone with attacking flair and creative passing, but I would want to see us add some steel and ball winning, regardless.
I still think Gueye or Ndidi could be a good "bargian basement Kante" for us when we need that kind of player in the starting XI.
If we want to bring in a world class attacker then I think Lukaku has to leave. I just hope that it's not Bale. Most of the talk is Sancho and Hudson-Odoi now.
Hirving Lozano looks like he's much more of a goal threat and has more experience, he would be my pick.
As good as some of the rising young English stars are, I hope we don't get trapped into buying English just for the sake of it. Quality should be the main focus, not nationality.

Mason might be ready to be back up at the very least next season. I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised with how he's looking physically at 17. I think he'll go on tour in the summer and a good showing could well see him promoted to the first team.

Jovic is a fantastic talent no doubt, and if we signed him, I feel he would be our no1 striker ahead of Lukaku or Rashford before long. I also don't think we'd sell Jovic and would instead possibly see Mason following in the footsteps of Pogba and Sancho in looking for first team football elsewhere.

If greenwood do well he will get his chance. We can't start the season with Rashford (whose a kid himself and has been hardly consistent) + someone whose so green that he pisses grass as his only alternative

Jovic is also a kid if you put it like that. I also don't think a CF should be a priority ahead of a CB, CM or RW. Personally i'd be happy with Martial as the CF with hopefully Mason being the back up.

I still want players like Joao Felix, Dybala and Sancho if the ate really available this Summer. The game against Wolverhampton and Barcelona shows, that we need more Players who are technical good. These three are one of the best offense players in the world and all very versatile for the 4 Positions in our attack.
And when Sanchez, Lukaku and Mata leave, there is place in our squad.
I also think, Pogba could be our CM which would solve the Herrera problem.
Additional i whish a RB. My favourit is Hakimi from Dortmund, also when he is still a little green.

Is it in threat?
We are currently fine but if we sell off Young, Jones, Smalling and Pogba leaves we are not so fine. Home Grown - Grant, Pereira, Jonesy, Lingard, Lukaku, McTominay, Pogba, Shaw, Smalling and Young.

If you want the full compliment 25 man squad you want 8 home grown players I believe. Surprised Pogba is home grown, didnt he leave before the three year cut off to be considered 'home grown'?

You must be living in dreamland if you genuinely think Dortmund will let Sancho go for £50M. Steal of the century if they did!

I still think we should go for Griezmann, or someone similar who can link the midfield to attack. Someone who can create space for others. Our only option at the moment is passing it to the flanks were we usually have Ashley Young who can't do shite.

An extra midfielder who can pass the ball is also a necessity , that way it's harder for opposing teams to nullify us because
they just have to man mark Pogba and we are done for.

Another priority should be a centre back, with good technical and physical ability. Keep Smalling as a back up and for squad rotation gives us pretty good options.
Lindelof can't be the only passer of the ball from the backline either, we need to be able to build from both LCB and RCB position.

I'm starting to get worried about our forwards, Rashford, Martial and Lukaku. Are any of them good enough to be a starter for us? They all have their moments but we need consistency in this team.

What we do need, is the right signings, the right quality. As with every transfer, the ‘right quality’ might not always work out.

In terms, of real quality, the squad as a whole, falls short. Repeating, what we’ve all been saying, over the last 6 years, it’s going to take, more then one transfer window.

4 signings, this forthcoming window, would be an ideal start. In terms of importantance, for me, a CB, RB, a midfielder with flair/creativity and a RW. We have well documented, defensive issues, but for me, we aren’t creative or clinical enough.

I’d even consider, not purchasing a CB, if funds, are limited, as I fear they will be. I’d be amazed if we spent the £200m, recently quoted, as the transfer kitty.

I’m not sure, how OGS will set up tactical, as he’s used a few different formations, without having the right players, so far.

Future transfer windows, a LW is a must. Unless, Sanchez rediscovers he’s a top class footballer, we’ll be stuck, with Martial, for the foreseeable.

5/6 new signings, isn’t going to happen. As much as we want, the team to change, we’ve never signed 5/6 straight into the first team. Even with the ‘potential new signings’ posted in this thread, we’re still playing players out of position and therein lies a lot of our problems. The current squad isn’t balanced.

So Scott was brilliant against Barcelona and you are going to dump him?
At no point did I say dump him, I just don't think he is ready to start every week, this would just be my preferred starting 11, there will be plenty game time for Scott throughout next season. On last nights performance as good as it was, if you think he should start every week, then I disagree.

Prices are completely wrong, but this is most likely what I expect us to do in Summer in comparison to some of the other 'dream' scenarios in this thread.

Pogba for Varane is a terrible deal. We should be getting £150m for Pogba, Varane is worth about £75m.

Rabiot seems like a bad influence, don't want anymore of that.

Sancho and CHO are already better than Lozano, sadly we won't get either this summer bar a miracle.

Hererra is already gone.

Jovic is also a kid if you put it like that. I also don't think a CF should be a priority ahead of a CB, CM or RW. Personally i'd be happy with Martial as the CF with hopefully Mason being the back up.
He's far more experienced then Greenwood is. I am comfortable risking it with Rashford, Jovic and Greenwood fighting for a place. However having Greenwood as Rashford's only cover is too risky for my taste

There needs to be a wider plan put in before any drastic changes are made.

If the only players that leave this summer are: Valencia, Rojo and Darmian. Defensively, I’d say the priorities for this summer would be a right back, 1st choice, and perhaps cover/competition for Shaw at left back.

Our central midfielders look ok. Mctominay, Matic, Pogba, Fred and Herrera are fine. If Herrera leaves, he definitely needs replacing. If Pogba leaves, for anything over 100 million, then there needs to be a wider chat about that money could be spent.

Do we go for a cheaper option in midfield and sign a top notch centre back or use the money to go big with a Sancho type signing (see below).

There needs to be a wider chat with regards to our front 3. I like Lukaku but I don’t think he should be 1st choice in the big games. I’d argue Sanchez, when fit and in form, is our first choice on the right. Do you trust Martial/Rashford? Sancho is a long term option and there’s an argument we could wait a year for him and concentrate on a centre forward this summer.

Well Herrera just said hes leaving, but Scot McT offsets that anyway. Just annoying because hes worth money. Id like us to dump Mata, Sanchez, Darmian, Young, Valencia, Jones and Rojo too now, just go full clearout.

Wan Bissaka, Rabiot, Fernandes, Sancho, Skriniar and Sessegnon would be my list of players. Probably 250-300 million quid there though

I would like to see out match day squad something like this next year :
---------------------DDG---------------
Wan-Bissaka--Toby--Lindelöf--Shaw
-----------------Fred------------------
----Fernandes-----------Pogba--------
Sancho-------Rashford--------Martial

Bench : Romero, McT, Smalling, Dalot, Tuanzebe, Lozano, Lukaku
Sometimes in squad, most days out(If not on loan) : Gomes, Garner, Greenwood, Chong, Jones

That would mean these guys leave : Sanchez, Mata, Herrera, Rojo, Valencia, Young,
