In possession, bar losing it in a risky position again, he was good I thought. Defensively, he was a bit lost.
In this formation he had to cover both sides of the pitch. Dont know if it was intentional from Ole or something that happened in the dynamic of the game.

Proper player. No surprise that he needed a while and many were way to hasty to write him off. Him and Keita both coming into form after being questioned.

Anyone noticed how he's just light weight as Lingard but that doesn't stop him to make physical pressure on opponents ?

Jewel in a puddle of steamy shit. Superb performance, didn't crumble mentally which is also great thing.

If he wasn't weak when dribbling backwards this guy would be a top player. I can understand why City wanted him, because in their system he'll always have a passing option instead of being left stranded in our team to run a midfield by himself.

Yeah, it's why I'm not being too harsh on him. We were so open defensively and he had to cover so much ground.

Still, I think his form since getting a consistent run of games has been very promising. Looking forward to seeing how he does at the Nou Camp.

I love him! Think he has a lot more to offer too, especially if we had better players around him.

Had an excellent game. Gave away the ball in a dangerous position and almost cost us 3 points but his ability to bring the ball out under pressure and find a forward pass is amazing..

Refs really need to start calling fouls on him. Sometimes ref are tougher on players coming from abroad but when you touch a Mark Noble its a foul.

Decent game but he can never be defensive midfielder when he consistently sets up opposition counter attacks every single game. An inch lower and Antonio would have scored and we could be going home with nothing today.

Played in a one man midfield though and looked decent despite it. Clearly has some ability on the ball as we've seen from the start. He is a ridiculously sloppy player though which just isn't acceptable. Doesn't matter how good he is for 85 minutes if he is going to spend the other 5 minutes setting up attacks for the opposition. He clearly isn't a defensive midfielder but he could be a decent B2B if he cuts out the sloppiness and gains an ounce of composure.

That was Pogba's fault all day. He thows a knee high ball into midfield with Fred being pressed with no easy first time pass on.

Was always going to by picked off.

Very involved and eager to get the ball. Kind of like Scholes always ran into space to receive the ball.

You sometimes get the impressions with some players (Lingard for like 10 games now), that they're fine with being under the radar.

Playing better of late but 100% not United quality, unless being average is the new quality we are accepting.

If we start accepting Fred as being one of our starters, or even thought of as decent, then we are on a very slippery slope. He wouldn't even get on the subs bench at any other top team.

I think I'm the only one who thought he had a bad game?

Gave the ball far too easy, almost gave away a goal similar to when he lost the ball deep against Wolves. If we ever want to have any control in midfield I can't see it with him starting. Nonetheless, he's got a fairly decent half turn and he's a decent dribbler.

Opinion seems to be turning that he's now suddenly excellent

Let's hope, that like Lindelöf, we go from horror that he's starting, to thinking, nah he'll be ok, to finally, thinking he's a key starter.

Looks much better when we play in Europe. I think he gets surprised how quickly players surround you in this league. Was decent in parts today though and showed good energy.

I think he panics when he gets the ball close to our goal. Because his first touch is pretty good otherwise. But overall he is a good player and I think he'll come into his own next season.

Did well on his own, and looks to be improving. Atleast is good on the ball, and does not shit it under pressure.

He's gonna be one of the breakout players next season, I'm sure of it. Just needs to get a run which he's getting now.

Very good again. He can be a bit sloppy at times but he is improving so you hope he can iron that too next season. It's looking good though.

I’m not holding him ‘giving the ball away’ for Antonio’s chance against him. He should have never received it, or if he did, should have been a better throw from Pogba. For me, it bounced up at an awkward height and the player was on him before he properly got it under control. Don’t hunk he ever had it properly.

His use of the ball, distribution and work rate is very good. Will only grow in confidence heading into next season..

I'm surprised by the amount of people who think Fred played well today. Our midfield was like a fishing net, holes all over. He was very busy, he did well doing the stuff we know Fred excels at e.g. pressing, showing energy etc. Declan Rice pretty much dominated him though. Ole was right in his post match interview on MUTV, we'd have lost 5-0 if we'd had played Barcelona today: a big part of that was our lack of control in midfield.

I struggle to understand how fans who watched the last 20 years of Man Utd players can think Fred is actually putting in anything about 6/10 performances. Nicky Butt and Darren Fletcher were levels above Fred and, in our best sides, they were squad players. IMO it just shows how expectation levels have been managed down since Moyes. If Fred is the answer then we're asking Europa League ambition level questions.

I like him, probably only though becasue he looks like he cares, and tries harder than most, so not a high bar to clear.
