I blame Pogba on that, no DDG. He's so lackadaisical when in possession or when receiving the ball. Then look at Pogba and Mata just strolling back and leaving the defense completely alone.

And then on the other phase of play, it's all on Rojo who loses the marker. You guys are insane if you blame that goal on David.
How can you blame Pogba for that? Sure, he could hustle a little more but DDG lead him way to much on that throw. You don't lead a player unless there's noone around them. If he's rolling that to Pogba, it should be to his feet. And then after, when the cross comes in, I blame two people. Rojo for turning his back on his man and leaving him all alone, and DDG for not getting across fast enough and not making himself big. DDG is horrible on crosses. This was just like the OG vs Barca the other day as DDG ends up in his goal when he should be getting across quick and diving out at the player and making himself big. But he's too timid. We also saw on Smallings OG where DDG actually turned his back instead of coming out strong and clearing the ball. He may be the best shot stopper in the world, but he is far from as good of a keeper as people make him out to be. He's getting by on pure agility but the best keepers in the world are not only brilliant at the basics, but they are also nutters as they will throw their body on the line and take command of their 6 yard box...

And another tap in on an inswinger from inside his 6 yard box.
Alrighty. United's best player in years has a serious dip in form while most of his teammates can't even remotely get close to his level.

He'll be fine. This team have much bigger issues than David de Gea.

We're blessed that he has his shot stopping skills because that is all he has.

Every single other facet of his game is fecking shite.
This. His ridiculous shot stopping skills have masked his deficiencies.

He was bad again today apart from the save on Antonio. Terrible distribution and his usual refusal to come off his line almost cost us.

Bad you say???
Apart from one of the saves of the year. A save that very few goalkeepers could get close to??
Thats the equivalent of complaining about a striker that just scored a double hatrick.

I know it will be controversial but I agree, where is the communication from both of them there. There really wasn't anything on at all until they both just left it. All of them played a part in it.

I don't think it's Pogba's fault but from the video, the way De Gea is looking when he threw the ball, it was to Mata, not Pogba. Pogba completely noticed danger and trying to prevent it and try to reach balls before they get balls.

De Gea's distribution really does let him down to be fair. He creates too many dangerous situations from nothing. Needs to recognise this weakness and cut it out. Brilliant at everything else though and I love him as our no.1

So like at Wolves, yet another mistake by De Gea that people want to pin on a midfielder. I swear if you've ever played even Sunday league football you'd know feckin better.

exactly. pass was for Mata but it was terribly weighted. Pogba tried to save it. I don't know how @Suedesi managed to blame Pogba there.

Well except crosses. He's shit at those too, punches too much, rarely see coolness under pressure, but his shot stopping is absolutely immense. All choir and preaching to stuff but fek it I gotta do something with my 3 allotted posts. DDG post crashing as good as any.

BTW does anyone have issues using autocorrect on here? Never works right for me first attempt.

The Wolves one was purely on Fred, you expect him to control that normally. This one is obviously on De Gea, he just missed Pogba with his roll out.

Went through this with screenshots and all in the thread after the Wolves game...not going to go there again. So let's consider the root of the issue :

Our keeper and outfield players are trying to play out the back and they are terrible at it. We're not talking chances conceded , it's literally matches turned because of this nonsense. It needs to stop.

Seriously, bench him. Atrocious distribution, and he is costing us as many goals as he is saving. At this point, for the sake of our overall team performance, I would consider cashing in on him while we still get a good fee. We could do with the money to fund our overhaul.

After gifting them a goal? It is the equivalent of a defender losing the ball on the edge of his own box which leads to a goal, and then making a goal-line clearance few minutes later. West Ham's game completely encapsulated him. Top save to highlight his shot-stopping prowess, a feck-up that sheds light on his awful distribution and then the perpetual reluctance to leave the goal-line and command his box. I wouldn't love to play next to him as a defender.

Much like Phil Jones and his occasionally spectacular last minute tackles I would rather De Gea was given far less opportunities to showcase his amazing shot stopping abilities.

A team at our level shouldn’t need to have the best shot stopper in the world to win things as our overall level should be high enough to not regularly concede those types of chances.

In previous seasons I’ve put this regularity of shot stopping opportunities down to our team defending badly but more frequently it’s seeming like De Gea is either inviting unnecessary pressure by booting it straight to the other team every time he gets it, or it’s linked to his absolute refusal to come off his line.

If Ole has balls he will make him work on this, if he has even bigger balls he’d start looking for a more rounded keeper who can build from the back with a view to cashing in on De Gea.

Some people have a agenda with DDG , I argued with another poster who tried to blame DDG for the Wolves goal where he passed it out to Fred.He resorted to name calling to make his point.

Awesome save yesterday but his distribution.....

We need a new goal keeping coach. I swear this is the worst one we've ever had. If Dave wants him as a mate he can pay for him personally to hang around in Manchester. Not because it's Dave it doesn't mean the club shouldn't put it's foot down on something as important as having the right coach.

De Gea's rollout was absolutely a key contributor for us losing that goal. Not quite sure how our defensive players seem to be getting a pass though. Once again, that was way too easy. We give up so many fecking chances it's frightening.

Sometimes it looks to me like they instinctively expect him to come out and claim the ball but of course he doesn't. As bad as the defenders can be sometimes, I think that Dave also makes them a bit nervous just because he's not commanding enough imho.

Best keeper in the world for me. Save yesterday was something else. Distribution hasn't been great this season. Said elsewhere, it can't be easy when there's so many changes in front of you and there's yet more uncertainty about the summer.

Too many excuses for him in my opinion. The distribution is a key thing he needs to get right. How can you be the best if you can't get some basic things right?

No matter what's going on or how shit the defenders are, it's his duty to work hard on improving a key aspect of what's expected of a goal keeper.

Aye, that's certainly a bit of an issue. I don't think that was ever on for him to collect yesterday though. I've just no idea what Rojo is doing at the back post and once again we let the cross come in far too easily.

I'm just worried that his reputation and his shot stopping abilities are holding us back from being firm with him and demanding that he improves his weak areas. If he gets upset and wants to leave then his mentality is all wrong for us moving forward. It's like we're so afraid of losing him that we're catering to him and treating him with kid gloves which is not, and won't help us.

I think I now understand why he didn't like Van Gaal and Frans Hoek, they obviously tried to address certain weaknesses and he got pissed off. LVG was in a weak position, and the club was afraid to lose him. We have to address that. First things first, have a talk with Dave and bin the goal keeping coach.

It was a loose throw out and an error for sure. His distribution doesnt match his shot stopping obviously but it isnt awful as you suggest by any standard .
My point was that it was a serious over exaggeration to say he had a poor game on the basis of one throw out.

Not a excuse at all, just a factor. He distribution has previously been good and this season it hasn't. I'm not at the training ground but doesn't strike me as a player that doesn't work hard on all aspects of his game. I think out of every single player he deserves to be cut a little slack....

Do you really think he doesn't work hard on that??
He made a mistake, just like all players do. Redeemed it with the save of the season which helped win us the match.
I think that cuts him some slack this weekend

Whatever he's doing doesn't translate on to the pitch. His mistakes in the last couple of games have put us under pressure for top four. It's a big factor. The other players are being slaughtered for their part in the last couple of bad performances so why should Dave be treated any differently? It's not even good for him to be constantly praised and excused because he'll have no motivation to improve. I understand and appreciate what he's done, but that doesn't mean we let him do whatever he feels like imho.

Then why is his distribution steadily worse if he works hard on that? Either he's not working on the right things or the goal keeping coach needs to be sacked today.

I'm not turning on Dave, I want him to improve for us and himself. I also believe his talent is such that he's more than capable of said improvement.

I guarantee he loses his No 1 spot for Spain soon if he doesn't improve.

So when Pogba has given the ball away repeatedly during the season you would sack one of the coaches also?

Come on isn't a player entitled to some poor performances especially when you compare how many times he's saved us? Not saying that he should be untouchable but some perspective is needed that's all. If he's sold tmw, he would break the record for the most expensive keeper in the world. Yes distribution might be not as good at times this season but let's not get into the normal forum 'speak' like he's turned in David James over night.

Come on. Don't avoid the issue and leave Pogba out of this. Pogba for all his faults has been far better than Dave this season,
For what it's worth Ole needs to add another coach to his team imho.

None of it takes away from the fact that this is the worse we've seen Dave and it coincides with his mate who happens to his coach. That is not a professional environment.

Anyway, don't complain next time Dave blunders along. Keep treating him with kid gloves and see how far that gets us.
