Played well against West ham ;was my second MOTM after Fred.

I noticed something against west ham.Whenever Pogba looks up to pick a forward pass, there was lack of movement from the forward players which makes him to hold onto the ball longer than necessary or play a backward pass. This changed a bit when Rashford came on.

Only God knows how much impact and assists Pogba would have had if we had good forward players that have a lot of movement.

This may not be a popular opinion, but apart from the RB and CB positions. The forward positions are much more a priority for us to sign players than the midfield.

I have always questioned his commitment, but i wont blame him if he leaves next summer, if we fail to improve.Anybody who has played football at any level knows that football is much more fun when you have some teammates who can play football.

If you remove Pogba, Rashford and Shaw.Wolves have a better outfield line up than we do.
Great shout but I would add Smalling to your last line.

If he wants to go to Madrid, no point in holding onto him for just another year and buy players to fit into his style in this window(with his heart on Madrid we may not see his best even for few months next season)

I rather sell him and build a new fluid midfield with that money !

Not bad on the ball, but also slow on the ball. He slows down United´s attack by being such a ball fiddler. In his first matches under Ole he made quick offensive passes when he received the ball in the middle. Now he´s back to being Mourinho Pogba and that´s the one thing he needs to change.

I think he´ll shine against Barcelona.
Yet again, this all comes down to movement ahead of him. Pogba the first thing he does when recieving the ball is looking up for a forward pass. If that doesn't come, he then delays and waits for a pass. If that doesn't happen, he's usually closed down and then he tries to hold them off to look for a backwards/sideways pass. Sometimes he rolls his opponent and runs off, sometimes he gets tackled.

The fact is though if the pass is on, HE WILL make it. Just look at Tottenham away for example.

This right here is the crux of the issue.

Folks ignore the fact that when our CB passes him the ball he is often closed down by 2-3 players within seconds and what are his options? Fred invariably.

Some perfect examples where its almost always the same. I'm not saying Pogba to Lukaku / Martial / Rashford has to be the main pass route but it'd be nice to see it in the top lists of passing routes, its possible if you look at the 4th tweet vs Fulham. Pogba to Martial made that list.

vs West Ham

vs Barca

vs Watford

vs Fulham

As long as we don't correct our general movement as a team, changing him with other players won't help IMHO.

That point has been said and worn out but some posters are just catching on.

On another note why does Ole not get a few top past players to help coach a segment of our team. For instance working with Scholes could really help Pogba and McTominay. Maybe RVN can help the strikers.

John Giles basically saying he is not a top player.

Didi Hamman says there is a player there but needs to work harder.

Well that is just utter shite. The best French player at the world cup not a top player :D
Remember Kanye had a good few poor games in the World cup too so they can't pull out the Kante excuse either.

He is one of our only top player's.

What Giles is saying is nonsense. Pogba was already a top player at Juventus but because of the type of player he is, his shortcomings get shown up in our team. He's already shown that in the right team he's fantastic.

I'm not surprised that certain sections of the industry view luxury players with contempt. Especially among the British who are obsessed with desire and work rate. Pogba is a specific type of player, someone that is much less effective without the ball, a type of midfielder very much in favour in Europe but not in the PL historically.

I would agree more with Hamanns assessment. That there is a player there, he just needs to show it more.

Giles i think is stubborn. once he makes an opinion of a player he cannot change it. He has never liked pogba.

Failed to deliver in a big game yet again, can we really trust him to be our main man next season?
Laid 2 perfect through balls on for Rashford but failed to take both chances. Story of the match really.

Yes pogba wasn’t at his best tonight but then maybe get embarrassed at the nou camp.

He still created our best chances, not that it means much in the end. Let’s be honest the whole team needs to step up 2 gears.

Yet played Rashford through one on one twice.

If people think he was anything like an issue tonight then your mind is made up before matches.

So what's the excuse tonight?

Arthur absolutely schooled him...Is he the new best midfielder in the world? Did Adidas put blades instead of studs on his boots? Had a nightmare about Mourinho chasing him with a giant spoon that put him off his performance?

I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, and he wasn't good, yet he still created our two best chances, both for Rashford, with incredible balls.

Thought he played well for most of the game. Some nice balls really. After the 2-0 we stopped of course so like the rest he dropped off.

Slow at times. But the lack of runners in front of him and our front three garbage there’s very little anybody could do. Put prime Xavi with our front three and he’d look average.

I'll say he was average tonight. Our midfield actually wasn't too bad and he did a few good things in a game we were well beaten in.

Don't really see the point of him against a team like Barca who just keep the ball for the entire 90 minutes. He doesn't know how to press at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

United was dog. Complete and utter dog.

Of the three chances we had, 2 were delivered by Pogba. He's too good for this team.

Needs to take responsibility. He's not a kid anymore. He was shit, and no - he wasn't surrounded by dross - he was part of it.

Our team just isn't stable enough to afford a luxury player like Pogba. Pogba isn't going to win you titles, he's just a nice bit of flair to add to an already functional team.

Your understanding of football is more or less on par with Ashley Youngs worst performances. Pogba, and the rest of the team for that matter, were fine until we suffered badly from two individual mistakes which resulted in us being 2 goals down (3 goals down on aggregate), after that the entire team collapsed and that was it.

Was Young and Lingard I think.

As for Paul. He can’t cope with being pressed.
Issue isn't being pressed, issue is when he gets careless and thinks his body strength will get him out of situations where he's surrounded, still needs to learn to pick the simple pass when he's outnumbered.

Not that it was the main issue today.

Two brilliamt through balls for Rashford. At least should have given us one goal. After watching the other 10 players creating nothing for yet another 90 mins people direct their rage at him.
This club's fanbase really hates creative talent. Want a team full of Mark Noble's yet get all up in arms when we are awful to watch.

He is who his is, he obviously isn't someone who can put the team on his back and that is maybe disappointing, but we should be looking to add to his talent rather than hound out one of the few who can produce quality befitting of this club.
