Many of us thought his finishing was too good not to translate in some form. We were wrong.
The case of James Wilson is more about his luck with injury.

He didn't had the chance to gain the hype like Wilshere due to his injury setbacks. Wilson is another talented player with a glass legs, that's a shame fact.

He could've still made it here when you look at players like Lingard who IMO weren't as talented as Wilson. But with Wilson he just didn't have the mentality along with a few others sadly. Below is what Warren Joyce said about him Januzaj and Macheda..

“The frustrating thing is seeing ones like [Adnan] Januzaj, [James] Wilson or Federico Macheda get up to that level and stop doing the work they did to get them to that level,” he vented.

“Not play the games, not train as hard, sit in jacuzzis and not do the same weights and sessions they did to get there. Those are the frustrating ones for me, because that could be avoided.”

Must admit I am very disappointed if he's not going for the Barca game. We need that ability to surprise them, and he's one of the few attackers we have with that elite technical quality even at this tender age. Would have been worth the gamble to throw him on if things weren't going our way.

Next year hope to see him breaking into the side properly.. he's the first academy graduate in ages (that is british born) that I've actually been excited about.

Comparing him to Wilson is completely different.

Wilson was a speed merchant who was a decent finisher, but never really had much more to his game.

Watching Greenwood he's just such a complete player, even if he isn't scoring he's creating. He's going to grow into the perfect false 9/complete forward IMO.

That freekick is beautiful, so far out and such amazing curl

Yeah, best part is he scores free kick with both feet. Haven't seen a better two footed player than him.

Btw, harsh on Wilson. He wasn't just a pace merchant. Shame he didn't make the step up, remember some coach questioned his attitude. When he was at reserves he was very good. Greenwood looks level above him though.

Maybe tone it down a little. When was the last time an academy player went on to be world class?
That'd be class of 92. Or maybe Pogba depending on who you ask. Yet people on here always seem to find the answers to all our troubles among our youth players. Who then go on to fail at Championship levels of course. I'm not saying we shouldn't trust our youth, I'm saying we should be patient with them. Bring them into the first team slowly instead of throwing them in the team because someone like Lingard is underperforming and hoping he solves all our problems. To put that much pressure on a 17 year old kid isn't fair at all.

It's hard not to get excited about him to be honest, he genuinely does seem a special player.

If he played for Benfica/Porto etc and playing every week we'd have clubs queuing up with £60m+ offers.

He'll definitely have more of an impact next year. Tremendously talented and so much of RvP in him. Love how he has that whip with power both on his shots and his passing when he uses his instep. None of the current group really have that technique in them.

The fact he's taking free kicks with both feet is ludicrous.
It's really fecking cool.

Santi Cazorla used to use alternate feet at corners, so he could curl it in from either side but I can't think of anyone else who would regularly take (and score) freekicks with both feet. The swazz he got on that freekick is unbelievable. Such a quality strike.

Would use both him and Gomez against Barca because they're better at keeping the ball. If we chase like we did first leg we're doomed. Also because I'd like to rest players for the everton game.

Must be a pretty rare talent.
Of course it requires talent. Just saying being two-footed isn't all that rare. Being two-footed and being able to execute that is even harder, but not unheard of. Forlán scored free kicks with either foot regularly.

Using Forlan as an example is a bit daft because he was one of the very rare two footed talents. Barcelona's Demebele too.

I know Forlan is famed for his two footed abilities. Any others?

@Trizy

Does Dembele score free kicks with both?

If he can curl from corners and score penalties with such precision, there's almost nothing against giving him run of games to the end of the season, if things go further south for first the team.

Yes, I know, he's only 17 but why not give depressed supporters something to be happy about.

The poster said he had never seen anything like it. I said it wasn't unheard of. Don't see how the example is daft since that's a fairly recent player who happened to play for us as well.

Brehme was very two-footed, although he wouldn't whack the ball with either foot but rather prefer one foot for power and another for precision.

And before I'm told it's daft to bring up a player from the 80s/90s, the relevant thing in bringing him up is the different use for either foot. I always found that an interesting point, particularly in how he chose either foot for penalties depending on the pressure associated with the situation. Oddly, he used his "weaker" foot for power.

Should give him every minute possible in pre-season. And play him as a striker, not a RW.

I'm not having a go at you. I'm genuinely curious which other player's had this ability.

A good preseason in the summer and he should officially be part of the team next season

if we get knocked out by Barca, and then bottle the next two/three league games, then I'd give him a start against Huddersfield and/or Cardiff. Phase out those who Ole doesn't see a future at the club and start bleeding him in.

Thanks but I was being a bit more specific in wondering how any players could score amazing free kicks with both feet.
Ivan Perisic the chosen one is pretty 2 footed. He takes corners/freekicks with opposite feet.
