Been saying this the last few years, thread I made last summer on Ed got closed. But he has 0 nuance on how to get us to be a top club again, he's content with us being 'thereabouts' but that's not good enough. Under Ed I genuinely don't see a title challenge in the next 5 years, which is shocking because it's been 7 years since we last challenged. This is essentially how Liverpool became Liverpool in the league.
Unfortunately unless the club starts making big losses and the Glazers end up selling it, I don't see any way we can get rid of Woodward and things will more than likely remain the same.

Woodward is just an extension of the Glazers. Getting rid of one without the other still means the foundations are rotting with infestation.

Yeah they've taken something like $1b out of the club over the last 15 years through debt payments and dividends, which is shocking in an time where oil clubs have been spending huge amounts.

Does anyone know how much debt we have left to pay off? Or just a brief summary of how much we annually pay off at the moment?

This from the Guardian seems ridiculous to be fair:

The borrowings of the 20-times champions remain at £487m despite the American family having purchased United in 2005 for a debt of £525m. This means that less than £3m a year has been paid off since, with the cost of serving the debt amounting to £24m a year.

I’m afraid we need new owners and with that a new CEO before we will see long term improvements. Today’s management and ownership is a total failure of epic proportions from a supporter perspective.

Another addition to a long list of cnuts that don't deserve to be at this football club. Possibly the worst run supposedly world class football club in the world.

We will never compete with the current ownership.

A for-profit business model cannot compete with Barca, Real, City and PSG.

The glazers can't milk this cow for much longer as we now look like group stage cannon fodder and are rapidly falling behind the top tier.

Our owners don’t care about us winning major trophies, being an amazing footballing side and exciting the fans (hallmarks of United signs pre Glazers).

All they care about is cold hard cash.

All you need to know to understand the situation we’re in

It's a repeat of what happened to us after Matt Busby retired. It took 26 years to win another title. We did not learn from our own history despite all the promises from Fergie and Gill that a plan was in place for the succession.

Huge summer coming up for Eddie. I guess how this summer goes will tell us the true ambitions of this club. We need to have a monstrous summer. I am afraid that De Gea and Pogba will be agitating for moves too, so that'll be another headache that we'll have to deal with.

Make or break for Eddie.

I think it was Ogden who said this on twitter but when you look at how Ajax & United have progressed post Europa League final and the amount of money spent by both clubs, it really makes you wonder how Ed is not under more pressure internally.

It's a bit sad that till about three years back United and Liverpool were in virtually the same position. In fact United might have been slightly better and in 3 years the direction the clubs have taken it's just poles apart .Liverpool are now one of the best clubs in Europe. They might win the premier League or the champions League and they made the champions League final last year while we are finishing 6th with absolutely no clue what we're doing. Worst thing is that we just never seem to learn and keep making the same mistakes. How is Woodward still in the job

Spot on. Woodward going wouldnt make a jot of difference. We need owners with a plan and desire to compete for the top prizes

Because Man United are so rich that the CEO can sanction big spending and shift the blame somewhere else. A CEO's job is to set the culture and organise the business, not get a tractor sponsorship.

They bought the club to maximize commercial revenue. They saw an opportunity to do that and have done it well. There was no plan for what would happen post-Fergie but by them, the revenue streams were established so it didn't really matter.

At this stage, there does not look like much room for significant growth.

Match day revenue has plateaued out for a few years.

The recent TV deal saw no growth whatsoever.

Commercial has matured. Maybe add another rice partner here and there.

Time to sell please.

We needed a top new in demand manager in place and rivals stole the race for them while moronic Woodward arrogance is running us into the ground. I dont blame glazers for providing 400m.

They were probably hoping for more control over TV rights which would have meant no end to the bastards. If they sell, who would buy? There aren't too many around that could afford it, barring an oil nation.

How the club is run is the issue, we have spent a shitloads over the last 6 years any other club that spent the money we have would have had a title winning team by now. We need footballing people making decisions to do with the footballing side of things.

This is never going to happen as the glazers will never get rid of Woodward, the only chance of ridding ourself of him is by new owners, but the only people who could afford us and would realistically buy us are the Saudis, it’s a fecked up situation we are in

Commercial revenues have been flat for three years now - market saturation/years of poor performance on the pitch finally catching up with us.

We spend enough money, I can’t be arsed to pull up the numbers but in last 6 years our transfer fee and wages would rival those flushed with oil money. We just spend that money extremely poorly on fees and wages. Also, that it is possible to not play football that makes you want to gouge your eye out even with players who are not top draw.

The biggest reason for that is we have no footballing structure in place. We have an ultra bloated scouting system who can’t spot any top talent for shit working in conjunction with an all powerful manager. To top it all off we have a banker turner CEO sitting at top of footballing heirarchy who can veto those decisions. Is it really that big a surprise when we are in current state?

What we saw today was Ed's incompetence of 4 years coming full circle. I have no faith in him even if Ole turns out to be successful. He needs to go, but unfortunately we appear to be stuck with him. Both stupid as well as stubborn to retain power, a dangerous combination.

"We don't want a massive churn of players every summer" - he said this in an investors call. Fantastic assessment of our squad I reckon, speaks volumes about his perceptiveness and planning. Well, we bloody need a big "churn" and he'd better get started.
