I think de Ligt would de laugh if we went in for him.
Not if we offered him big wages.

United need to sell itself as a project. The only way they can do that is through spending money. Buying Sancho, de Ligt, and another player would send a clear message to those 2 players and our current players that we're a project worth believing in. At that point our side looks more attractive because they're not thinking how our side looks now, but how the side will look with them in the side.

I would take him over any center back right now if I am any team in the top 6 because not only is incredible already but...he will only get better and that is the scariest thing about him.
If I was offered only one player between VvD, Laporte and De Ligt right now I would take VvD. Then Laporte. Then De Ligt. In that order of preference.

Another big game from him. Dominated Benzema, Dominated Lewandowski, dominated Ronaldo. He's already one of the best cbs in Europe.

We've been a project for about 10 years now. No need to join a project when the World's best teams are interested in you, teams who are already a force and have shown they can not only maintain their dominance, but build on it. Especially when they'd pay just as much and in most cases, are situated in better environments.

His heading technique on the winning goal, his defending, his marking of whichever striker was against him, be it Ronaldo or Kean .

Would honestly sign him for 70-80 million. The 10 or so years he would give us would cover the cost and more anyway.

It's important United still maintain that strategy. Money is the only thing that will convince these players. You don't want to be like Arsenal where RVP left because he knew Arsenal had no ambition in regards to spending cash.

This kid is going to be an absolute immortal. The fecking aura about him, class act. We don't get this kind of players anymore, we find ourselves in clowns like Pogba and Lingard more often.

If I was De Ligt I wouldnt even blink to choose Barcelona before ManUtd, and Im a United fan. We are a disaster right now and he has the potential to be the best CB since Maldini.

He referred to the fact that he wasn't even born yet the last time Ajax made the semi-finals of the Champions League in an interview tonight. Another great header after his recent goal against Germany, and it's bizarre how mature he is for his age. Truly bizarre.

Dude is a beast. He’s a can’t miss, very few of those you can say that about regardless of league or age (Mbappe, Neymar come to mind). We need to be in for him. Can slot in as our CB for the next 10 years.

I would get De ligt because he is capable enough rn and has double the potential of VVD as good as he is.

Holland's defense looks pretty mint with Van Dijk and De Ligt. Not even Mutombo can head the ball against them.

He'd have to be a bit mental to sign for United. And I'm a United fan
yeah we've no chance if Barca are in given the style of play, his mate Frenkie, their talented squad and well they are Barca

as usual we could offer him an extra 50k a week

Made an error for Ronaldos goal but made up for it with his own.

It makes me sad that we probably wouldn’t be in his Top 5 clubs if he were given a choice. Whoever signs him will have a world beater for next decade injuries permitting.

Was OBVIOUS we should have signed him after the Europa final (Davinson Sanchez also played that game). That summer we bought Lindelof.

Him and Van Dijk are gonna be a cheat code for the Netherlands in the upcoming Euros. Unreal. I wouldn't mind €100m for him this offseason, and I think we have a better chance than most teams because of our Dutchmen and performances the last two years.

Seems nailed on as Pique's successor though.

What like Pogba was?

I'd happily be mental playing in the best league in the world, earning millions per year and playing in front of packed out stadiums week in week out.

Yep or we should have put a gentleman's agreement in place to have the first option to buy when they decide to sell.

He could also do that at most of the top 6 teams though, and at 19 money shouldn't be his biggest motivation either. Pogba was simply a different story with his background.

He'll earn millions no matter where he plays. As for his motivations, some players would prefer to join a project, over an established top performer. Doesn't mean they're mentally impaired, as was implied. I'd guess his first choice would be Barca, but with his agent who knows.
Least if he joined United he'd pretty much be a nailed on starter upon landing, at Barca it may well take time, as they've some quality players already there and he'd have to adjust to their methods. Seems a sensible lad, so maybe he'll listen to clubs interested in him and make his own decisions.

I agree and maybe that is our only option but part of our problem is that we are seen as a cash cow by players and clubs

Why on earth did Sanchez pick us ahead of City? apart from that wage which has caused untold issues with contract renewals and made him practically unsellable

if this kid is the future and it sounds like he is we might have to bite the bullet and see if we can tempt him. What does that say about his character though if he picks us over Barca?

What a player. Him and Pique will be a great pair.
They both play at the same side. Actually Piqué is the only reason that may stop Barcelona to sign him because he still may be up for 2-3 years more... I hope if Barcelona doesn't sign him, United does everything to get him.

Also Barcelona has Todibo who is very promising and Valverde stated that he likes him a lot. So it's really possible that De Ligt does not end in Barcelona even they showed "love" to each other.

I can't see De Ligt going anywhere else at the moment. Todibo may be very promising, but De Ligt is the real deal already and will only continue to grow and improve. Barca will take him.

What really strikes me is the fact that he's built like Mr. Incredible. It there was any chance whatsoever of getting him, he'd be perfect.

Yeah if they sign De Ligt they need to start preparing Pique's farewell tour. De Ligt would not be happy as Pique's understudy and Pique would not be happy mentoring De Ligt from the bench.

I was listening to a Dutch journalist on the radio this morning, and he said De Ligt's camp were quite surprised that no club in the EPL had made contact about signing him. Maybe most from these shores see it as a futile prospect in the first place, so are not even chancing an inquiry? Hope that's not the case, but said jouno did heavily suggest that Barca are in pole-postion at present if any option to buy comes available.

They might not want to negotiate with Raiola.
