Didn’t see a recent thread on him.

With Juventus reportedly looking to move him on and sign Felix, could he be a realistic option for us?

Would obviously be a big money signing which only a few clubs could afford, but his star seems to have faded a bit due to Allegri’s pragmatism.

I still think he’s a class player though and would love to add a player of his quality. Would bring creativity and goals.

Used to really like him, but he’s the very definition of a luxury player right now. In a pragmatic set up he’s borderline a liability. Under the right manager he could be brilliant, but under many he’d be a massive waste of money. He’d need the team built around him.

Pochettino uses flexible tactics with a role for a second striker. Like when Lucas Moura plays. Dybala would be fantastic under Pochettino.

He's another copy of Angel Di Maria. I don't think he will be successful at United. Manchester United need players who can make a difference.

Wow. His star really has faded.

Only a year removed from 22 goals in the league. Allegri's pragmatism along with the Ronaldo transfer has marginalized him for Juventus ironically just as Messi's presence in his position has for Argentina.

I honestly wonder what he would go for now. Might end up being a bargain relative to his talent.

He's a player who could make Martial and/or Rashford look much better than they are.

Would you prefer Dybala or Felix?
So Juve doesn't want him because they want to sign Felix so the suggestion is to get Dybala? Why don't we try and get Felix instead??
I’m not sure what to think honestly. At one point I thought Dybala was the best young thing going, but he’s been completely derailed at club and international level due to the presence of Allegri, Ronaldo and Messi. Can hardly fault him for it.

On one hand, Felix looks a potential world beater. On the other hand, whoever gets Dybala may end up with a world class player for well under market value.

He doesn't rate United or the PL at all based on his comments in the past. Signing him would be a mistake as it would bring in another player who thinks they're too good for us and as a step down, we've got too many players like that already. We need young, hungry players who actually want to be here.

From the Juventus subreddit:

“Have seen a lot of anti Dybala stuff on here but have found some interesting stats from this year. In games he’s been deployed as either a CF or CAM, his average rating on whoscored is around a 7.7, right in line with where he was last year where he finished in the top 10 amongst all players. In games he’s been used as a winger he has a grand total of 0 goals and a rating of 7.05
Tbh not sure how accurate these stats are but I know whoscored are generally pretty reputable. Seems like it’s more of an allegri issue than a Dybala one”

“How can people blame Dybala when the only way we reach the box is by crossing in it. Never open play goals which Dybala excels in. Never possession around the enemy box, always pointless U shaped possession in the literal midfield area of the pitch which ends up with the ball being cnuted forward. Paulo always has to drop deep to play the ball forward just because everyone is clueless because of the Master Tactician's™ lack of system.”

I just thought this was interesting as it gives us some insight to why Dybala has failed this season.

Pragmatic manager + Ronaldo = Dybala sacrificed

It’s a simple equation.

Dybala is good, but not what United need at the moment. Everyone knows where the areas we need to fix and he doesn't play in one of them. It'll be like buying Mata and playing him on the RW all over again.

Find all the anti Dybala comments very strange seen recently (not this thread). Pre-Ronaldo he was one of the best in the world linked with all the big clubs, Mourinho was hugely linked when he took over too.

My only reservation with him is (not playing wise but positionally) a bit like Sturridge, he doesnt seem a striker, or a winger or a number 10....he has a bit of all but jack of all trades......

No guarantees a world class player being a success, just look at SAnchez with us, but Dybala quality wise is still one of the best in the world. Like the poster above I would still rather Sancho or/and Felix considering the ages, dribbling abilities and killer passing....but if Dybala is available, he would possibly be a fantastic signing, especially if with the season he has had the fee is reasonable.

Foe me Dembele, Felix, Sancho, Dybala, Lozano....Id love any two of those above the average Mata/Lingard on our right side and the hugely talented but generally poor performances of Sanchez/Martial on the left. Also selling/releasing all bar Lingard would go a long way to paying for one of two and also enable a fourth spot for Greenwood next season

I just can't imagine him coming here, he'd see it as a massive step down and his effort would probably show that too sadly. We're not an attractive destination for this type of player at the moment.

Why not, though? We have employed a lot of 4-1-2-1-2 diamond schemes in recent months under Solskjær, and Dybala would be a good fit in the Front-2 (considering he reached his Palermo/Juventus peaks in similar roles alongside/off Vázquez/Mandzukić/Higuaín and is typically a better and more skillful performer than our forwards). Pogba has extensive experience in that setup, too, and could play as the central attacking midfielder or left central midfielder. Only thing I'd be wary of, from a purely tactical perspective, is forcing Dybala into the deeper attacking midfield role with 2 strikers head of him...which would be a “False-9” only in name because our strikers aren't particularly proficient at link-up play and don't have the best movement, and would have a stifling effect on his activity/effectiveness around the opposition's box (where he's most lethal).

Pogba: What is the Real Madrid target's best position?

Max Allegri's appointment as Juventus boss in 2014 saw the Bianconeri switch to a 4-4-2 diamond formation, with Pogba tucked in behind the strikers at the forward tip of the midfield. It is the role in which the Frenchman has produced the best and most consistent form of his career to date. Given licence to roam, he would frequently drift to the left and burst into shooting positions.

Think he could have a Zola-esque impact on the Premier League as a forward. Though of course, if 4-3-3 is our template for the future, Dybala wouldn't be a suitable target because he's optimal in central channels and shouldn't be forced toward the flanks to accommodate others (he's no Messi, Neymar or Hazard in terms of dribbling ability out wide even in a playmaking role, and struggles to get involved in the proceedings). And also, if I had to choose between Dybala and Félix, I'd go with the latter. :)

Yes I Di marzio saying if they move on Dybala they will target Felix, and have already made contact with his agent. Dybala has not developed the way Juventus had hoped. He is neither strong nor particularly fast, he would find it tough in the PL. i would rather we get Bruno Fernandes.

I have a feeling he would find it hard going in England, totally different style of football and his technical abilities would be stifled.

Remember the player Lamela looked in Italy? While I would say Dybala is a better player he would end up going the same way. I like Lamela in our squad but he is a totally different player to the one we thought we were signing.

IMO Bruno Fernandes and Dybala are different type of players. It could be like comparing Kevin De Bruyne with Griezmann.

But I agree that we need a player like Fernandes with a RW.

Do you think Fernandes could be able to play in a midfield of 3 including Pogba?

Dybala would be great player decades ago, but in modern 433 game he would struggle to play CF or wing forward position.

Yeah I do. And the reason I want Bruno over Dybala is that if hou get either it is to play at the tip of the diamond, and Bruno is better there than Dybala imo. I think Dybala would be better as one of the two strikers but unless we plan on selling Martial or Rashford that wont be happening.

It’s a simple equation.
And where’s the Dybala is simply not that good part in this equation?

I’m not having Cristiano Ronaldo and ‘pragmatic’ managers as the reason that Dybala has only scored 5 goals in 27 Serie A matches.

I hope not.

I'm a bit fed up of us spending shit tonnes on players that other big players don't want anymore because they're replacing them with young talent.

How about we just sign that young talent, like Felix, instead?

Would love to see him under Klopp. I think he needs to play either as a false 9 in a fluid attack or as a creative second striker. Allegri has been using him as a midfielder for most of this season. He'd already done that in Higuain's first season, too

Anyone but Rashford
It’s hilarious to hear people blame Ronaldo. Dybala was struggling at times last season too – He’s a very streaky player. Similar to Rooney in that sense.

Lamela was never anywhere near as good as Dybala in Italy

Not really. He struggled last season when he was injured, plus off field troubles, plus trouble with Allegri. Whenever he didn't have those issues he looked like an alien

Got overshadowed by Bernardeschi this season, but still a great little player. Not very cheap and unsure if he can be a star again. Also unproven in the Premier League (that might not suit him).
