Spurs could put him on the same wages as Kane, 200k a week. That could be enough to convince him to stay, especially if his family is settled and happy in London. But I agree there is no way he is sticking around on the current 80k a week he is getting paid.

There's no way any new contract we offered him wouldn't be a huge increase with that. I do think we would be prepared to offer around the 200k mark, he's still in his prime and vital to our team.

That said, I do think Real will go in for him and I do think he'll leave, which will be a huge shame despite his inconsistencies this season. When Eriksen is 'on it' we can beat anybody in the world because the whole team flourishes.

I have always generally felt that as long as you kept the triumvirate of Pochettino, Eriksen and Kane together, you would remain at least a solid top 3/4 side.

I think Eriksen has been far from great this season though, and it doesn't seem to have hurt you at all. If you get a decent (£75m+) offer for him this summer, you should take it, in my view.

He's worth a lot more than that to us. Who do you replace him with for that money?

Fekir only has a year left on his deal - would be a good like-for-like replacement. Brandt reportedly has a £22m release clause if Leverkusen miss out on CL football (which they will).

Unlike us, you generally seem to do pretty shrewd business - I imagine you'd invest the money productively.

Well I hope you are right - I'd much prefer to keep him but realistically there is a good chance he is off to Madrid.

I’d love Eriksen but that would mean we’d need an out and out defensive midfielder who simply shields the back four so to allow Eriksen and Pogba to do their thing further forward, can we realistically sign Eriksen and a pure defensive midfielder when we also need to fill 3 positions (right back, centre back and right wing) ?

I think we would be too open in midfield a 4-3-3. We'd need to play in a 4-4-2 diamond or a 3-4-2-1. Not that any of this matters - there is zero chance of Spurs selling to a top 4 rival. If he goes this summer, it will be abroad.

Was just about to say Brandt - would make perfect sense for United, Eriksen, Spurs and Brandt to for CE to join United, Brandt to join Spurs.

Eriksen looks knackered at the minute, but if you look at the number of games he’s played/miles he covers per game, he has every right to. He’s a wonderful footballer.

He's having a bit of an up and down season. Was really good first half but then for a long while dropped off and was invisible, now seems to have picked it up again. When he's 'on form' we're 10 times the team but it's very frustrating sometimes watching him simply fail to have an impact on games, when you consider his exceptional talent.
Cheers man, had this feeling it's a bit up and down for him lately, still rate him very highly, doubt we can get him off you lot though.

Brandt is avaible for £25mil apparently - he could be a young Eriksen we should be looking at him for that price.

I think his head went mid-way through the season and he lost focus perhaps because of the Madrid links, as Squishy says though he has been back to his best in the last few games thankfully.

He is so important to our team - he is also incredibly hard working which sometimes gets missed because of the type of player he is.

Yup, I'd easily put him on KDB level when he's on song, his workrate is a massive plus too.

Tottenham's Eriksen open to contract talks says Pochettino: https://www.itv.com/news/2019-04-24/tottenhams-eriksen-open-to-contract-talks-says-pochettino/

Good news if true. The ideal scenario for Spurs going into next season, a first full season in our new stadium, is a continuation of our squad stability and cohesion, spiced up with the addition of a couple of quality new signings.
Fingers crossed - he is vital to us. Still expecting him to leave to Real though if I'm honest.

Way more than you get if he walks for free next summer though. As others mentioned you'll have to gamble on someone making the step up like Brandt or Fekir.

I reckon he goes this summer either to RM or somewhere else.

We're in the same situation with DDG.

Yeah if he doesnt sign a contract in the summer then we will sell him reluctantly - we can't have him going into next season with the contract ending that soon. I'm dreading the day we let him leave.

If Real Madrid or Barca want him its hard to make any case for him staying at Spurs but if they don't then I could see him staying if Spurs offered the right money. How much are Spurs supposed to be offering him? If he left on a free next season he could easily command £350,000 a week so it could be very tempting for him to hang around especially if the right club doesn't come in for him this summer.

I'm not so sure he will go to RM. If we get past Ajax and into the CL final, and when coupled with the prospect of a whole season in our new stadium, Eriksen might start to figure that Spurs are a pretty good club to stick with.

Also, I don't think Pochettino would say "I think Christian and us we are so open to talk …" if there wasn't something tangible behind it.

If he decides to stay he’ll have to compromise a bit on wages compared to running his contract down or getting even sold this summer. That's the reality. He could conceivably get 350k pw as a free agent but no one will pay that and pay Spurs 70-odd million.

Spurs ain't a bad club to play for if he gets offered the money he deserves. It's not unimaginable he'll renew. But if we're being honest Spurs look more like a club that will be fighting for top 4 spots in the near future rather than titles. And if he gets offered a chance to fight for titles in Spain along with a big pay rise I'd wager on him taking that chance.

As of United, we could probably offer more money than Spurs contract-wise but we don't offer any more certainty of CL football or challenging for the title. That's the situation. We're certainly less attractive to Spanish giants from Eriksen's (or anyone's really) POV. If the Spanish giants don't enter the race and his options are between renewing at Spurs or moving to United, I could see him renewing if he gets offered 200k-250k at Spurs. Or even running his contract down. Lost of teams would offer 250k on him as free agent.

If Eriksen stays, do you think he'll want to be matching Harry's wages?

Most players are money-driven. If another CL club offers him a better salary I would not be surprised if he left.

Isn't Kane on 200k pw? Then at the very least.

KDB is on £250k pw, Ozil is on £350k pw and Pogba is somewhere between these two. He arguably deserves to be on that bracket and will surely be offered £250k and upwards if he's put on the market or runs his contract down.

He's also couple of years older than Kane so this is really his last chance for a big contract or potentially a big move. Kane was 24 when he renewed so he knew he'd have time for another big deal or move anyway.

If he moves, I don't see him going anywhere but Madrid. And from any perspective other than Spurs', it makes total sense. Madrid need to replace Modric soon, and Eriksen probably realises that this is his chance to move to the biggest footballing arena in the world and competing at the highest level, cause if renews his contract, they'll never let him go. And this isn't a slight on Spurs, btw, as I have great respect for what they have done and how they have done it. But I don't see them competing for the league anytime soon, and at Madrid he could be part of Zidane's big and potentially historic rebuild.

True. Around the 200k mark seems fair, our contracts are heavily incentivised with performance related bonuses so I imagine that'll be a big part of it.

Still I think he will be off to Madrid. The replacement will need to be top class.

Unless Zidane and Florentino choose to go for Pogba that is. Zidane is a big fan of his compatriot and Florentino loves his Galacticos which Pogba is certainly more of compared to Eriksen.

Something close to it, yes. I don't think he'd mind being only the 2nd highest earner at Spurs.
I think he would. Why wouldn't he? Rationalise it for me.

He doesn't contribute any less than Kane, he can get more money elsewhere, he's not a local lad to compromise. Did I mention this is his last chance for a big contract too?

Fecking Aaron Ramsey got £250k at Juventus lads. Lower than £200k on Eriksen is taking the piss.

Sure. But if I were them, I'd go for Eriksen, even though he sells about 10 times less shirts than Pogba.

If they don't go for him, and if he's tired of boring London, he's more than welcome at Liverpool:drool:

Pogba firing on all cylinders is not an inferior player to Eriksen at all. Just different. RM have players that can playmake in Kroos and Isco as well as a very capable DM in Casemiro. But they don't have players that can run with the ball from midfield like Pogba and bring that level of directness in play.

I think he would suit them better and Zidane probably feels he can unleash Pogba.

He isn’t, no, but he’d probably cost at least twice as much as Eriksen.

And for a player who they’d likely have to pay £150m for, there are a lot of question marks around him.

But of course there is a chance that his countryman Zidane is the guy to make him the sort of player we all thought he would be a few years ago. And you’re right about his playing style. If he goes there and releases his potential, a midfield of him, Kroos and Casemiro sounds deadly.

How often does he step up with the big play to dig Spurs out of trouble. He is a really intelligent footballer with the ability to make the clutch play when his team needs him most.

It's extremely unlikely to happen but I would love him to sign for United. He would make a massive impact in a number of ways.

Whats the deal with Spurs huge loan, are they just paying the interest on the loan or are they paying it off?

Because Kane is arguably the best in the world in his position, goals are priceless and Kane scores them by the bucket-load. Moreover, Kane is 'one of our own' and so deserves to get an extra loyalty bonus.

Eriksen is not quite in the same elite bracket as Kane.

Sure, if Eriksen gets a higher wage offer from outside the Prem and wants to go, then good luck to him. But there's an awful lot to be said for staying at Spurs, staying with Pochettino and more than doubling your wages.

I doubt that's a concern. Florentino was never one to penny pinch when it came to signing Galacticos and he's got money to burn.

The most expensive transfer Real have made since signing Rodriguez in 2014 for €75m, was signing Vinicius for €45m last summer. They really haven't spent any money in a long while. Their net spend the last 3 seasons is -€125m. That means they received €140m from outgoing players than they spent on incoming ones. Negative spend every single season while they won the CL. And they also got Ronaldo off the books, with Bale and Modric soon to follow. They could spunk €300m this summer and that would be them barely playing catchup. It would average at €40m net spend per season over the last 4 years.

There's also the subject of what Zidane wants. Flo will want to keep him happy as finding a good manager that works and is respected by both the fans and the players is very tricky as he found out.

I see him staying. Barca dont need him, Real will go for Pogba. Best option is to stay at Spurs, where he is settled. Spurs will keep their squad together and add some more. Poch is going nowhere too for the next few years, i dont see him moving.
