I couldn’t care less what he did for other clubs. If you want to find out, I’m sure you can. However, he’s always been known as a flat track bully, and I’m sure his track record against the top teams has always been bad.

1 goal in 21 games against City, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. That’s appalling.
So is this post.

100 percent would be a Fergie signing.
Top option to have in your squad.
Agree, always thought if Fergie had stayed we'd have been in for him the same summer that Arsenal almost signed him.

In my opinion, Vardy is the most underrated player in the Premier League. I have seen him disparaged on many occasions, which seems utterly disrespectful considering what he's achieved, and the fact that he's a constant menace, who has been a prolific scorer for an unfashionable club. I don't know what else he has to do to prove to some people that he's an excellent player.
I think he's overrated. He's a good striker, but questions remain about his ability to perform when there is little space for him to run into. Isn't that part of why Puel got so much flack, because moving away from a counter-attacking approach stymied Vardy?

He would be a good rotation option for most top 6 sides except City and Arsenal but that's about it. Extraordinary record against the top 6 but that alone doesn't make you a top striker.

you really haven't watched have you, Puel wasn't slated for moving away from counter attacking, Rodgers doesn't have us counter attacking, he was slateds because Vardy was isolated and we played at a snail's pace

I haven't! That is why it was a question. I also asked you a few days ago about the difference between Puel and Rodgers.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Speaking on behalf of the majority of the forum. I am hoping Vardy absolutely destroys City with a hattrick.
If you're referencing the increasing number of scouse WUMs on here masquerading as United fans and making out they 'don't care' whether Liverpool or City win the PL, defending Woodward's daft decisions etc then fair enough...

If not, you're speaking for a tiny minority on here.

If he's so easy to stop then why don't teams stop him? In the last four seasons, he's scored 24, 13, 20 and 18 PL goals, despite only playing in a top six side for one of those seasons. The season he scored 13 was the one in which Leicester were nearly relegated, every season that he's played in a decent side he's been a prolific scorer. And the one season that he did play in a top six side, he broke the consecutive games scoring record. He also scored international goals against Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Wales. Not bad for someone who's easy to stop.

I didn't say he was easy to stop.

He is a good striker. Actually, he's a very good striker, I'll give you that. I do think he is overrated because of the proportion of goals that come against the top 6.

He'll have a field day tomorrow. Who was the last opposition player to get a hat-trick at OT?

Ah - then I can’t remember anyone scoring a hat-trick against us since fat Ronaldo for Real Madrid and that was more than 15 years ago. I sure someone has..?
Just checked, some Dennis Bailey (QPR) was the last one to get one at OT in the league in 1992. Vardy will join an exclusive list tomorrow.

Only Bentley, Kuyt, Eto'o and Lukaku have scored hat-tricks vs United in the PL era.

From official Premierleague site:
Jamie Vardy has more PL goals in fewer matches than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Vardy 85 goals ( 183 PL matches )
Ronaldo 84 goals ( 196 PL matches )
And that's just ignoring their records against the big 4 or 6.

Some people still find Ronaldo United's GOAT.

Ronaldo wasn't a striker for us though.
He was a forward who was pretty much playing in his favourite position where he scored most of his goals from, at least half of his United career. He also played for best team in the league for years.

What exactly is the point you are trying to make?

That Vardy who is hardly recognised as one of league's best player, let alone something else, has better record than Cristiano Ronaldo who is regarded as United's GOAT by his fans. In other words, many people overrate Ronaldo's achievements FOR UNITED, especially with so many good players we had.

They compared Vardy and Ronaldo, it's not a random thought.

Vardy is a great player in his own right but he's not comparable to Ronaldo. Ronaldo deserves all the plaudits he gets for his performances at United, he was simply sensational to watch.

So this is about Ronaldo, not Vardy.

You may be technically correct that Vardy has better statistics (I haven't checked), but the comparison is silly. You are comparing Ronaldo who hadn't yet reached his peak to someone who has already reached his peak. Secondly Ronaldo played as a winger at United, whereas Vardy plays as a striker. Ronaldo is a phenomenon. He will go down as one of the greatest players ever. Vardy is a good player and will go down as a top PL goalscorer.

Who's they? You call yourself a Utd fan and think Ronaldo's achievements for United are overrated and can be compared with Vardy of all people? :nervous:

At 23 in 07/08, he scored 42 goals in 49 games. 31 in 34 in the league alone. As a winger. Multiple titles, champions league. Vardy is 32. They are in different stratospheres.

Ronaldo is the GOAT. Put some respect on his name.

Few Ronaldo fans already being butthurt and mentioning Ronaldo's career in general and ignoring the simple Vardy-Ronaldo PL comparision. Should have seen it coming, I am out.
