What a fecking disgrace

It's the most embarassed I've ever been watching a game of football. Anyone watching this absolute shit that's not 100% sure that referee is bought is an idiot. Two wrongly given penalties to turn the game from 1-0 to 1-2 with VAR at play...

Why even play the games? Just give them the title and be done with it.

At a least in the past you could blame it on one ref. Now we have VAR and they still side with Benfica

All the referees involved in those decisions should never referee a match of football again. They're looking at it through a TV screen with all the replays they want from all angles they want and they manage to get it wrong??

Those are decisions that aren't worth 3 points, they're worth a league title. How is that even possible?? They can not referee at this level ever again and a serious investigation has to be done.

Before VAR you could always make an excuse for the referees, there are no excuses now. They saw it, the incidents aren't up for interpretation, they're as clear as it gets, they know what the right decision is and they call it wrong on purpose. There must be serious consequences for what happened today.

I know quite a few Benfica fans from my many work and leisure trips to Portugal (in my company’s Lisbon office Sporting fans are definitely heavily outnumbered), who are convinced that they have been victims of a long-standing anti-Benfica conspiracy and vendetta within Portuguese football. No joke.

Obviously I don’t watch the games week in week out, but I always thought that was just ridiculous, and games like today only further highlight that.

Fans of bigger clubs from any country moaning about everyone being against them has always been hilarious to me.

The game was live on youtube. If you search UEFA's channel they'll have the highlights there in a few hours.

Insane run too with the draw at Benfica to make it through in the group stages, Inter in the semis who are arguably the best team ever and then Kairat at their home in the final. Deserved win, it had been a long time coming and the work that's been done for our futsal has been incredible in the past decade. It's a shame you can't say the same for the football side of things.
Thanks, don’t know why you waste your time watching that, I rather go to a lower league in Spanish football than trying to fool my self expecting to win anything than the meaningless cups. Joke of a competition, every country has what it deserves I guess.

Some of them might be true, in England corrupt Presidents or owners wouldn’t be tolerated, nothing against the club, but the guys around that club don’t make me laugh.

Anyway I guess you don’t know much about what happens here to say that. Try to find who is their President then come and tell me you know it.

With this I am not saying we don’t win based on that but trying to make jokes without knowing the specifics isn’t the best way to judge.

Huh I’m confused by your post. Did you misunderstand mine?

I was saying that the complaints from many Benfica fans I’ve met, that the officials and authorities in Portuguese football have been biased against them and that they’ve received unfair treatment over the years, sound ridiculous and are untrue from what I’ve seen. Would you disagree with that? You will have definitely watched many more Benfica matches than I have.

And I know that the Benfica president has faced corruption investigations, making claims of anti-Benfica bias that I was disagreeing with, sound even more
crazy.

Oh sorry yep I got it wrong. Anyway with this I am saying they probably have the best squad, just hate their President and what he represents, nothing against the club, for me it’s normal rivalry, what is around them is everything I hate. Add to this the Mendes influence for me it’s unbearable really.

@Peyroteo thanks.

I will try to watch the match tomorrow if I can, lost a bit the interest about futsal on the last years but this section has nothing to do with our football.

I hope one day Albuquerque runs the club, at least mediocrity won’t be tolerated, winning is another matter.

Have to say the first PK was clearly not a PK. Can't understand the VAR decision. I can accept the second PK since the player got his arm way outside his body, but still debatable though.

The stupid thing is that we wouldn't really need these PK's. We were creating scoring opportunities for fun, because Braga apart from the goal, looked like a rookie team, despite being so high in the table.

It was a penalty. Watch it in slow motion Felix is clearly ahead and about to take the ball and the braga defender kicks his leg. i.imgur.com/yIHHNYN.gif you can see it in this gif clearly.

Peyroteo is delusional to even claim the second penalty is not a penalty its as clear as they come. Everything is a conspiracy Benfica is paying for titles! Benfica paid Rio Ave to tie Porto. Benfica paid Porto to lose to Benfica. I mean do you realize how ridiculous you sound? Benfica has the best team in Portugal, yet you have deluded yourself into thinking they are only in first because they pay refs? What about when Porto got two penalties against Braga in their recent match. Are Porto paying the refs too?

Still debatable thought, but yes, that angle makes it look like there's contact. Our media culd had done a better job showing more angles, though.

Off course I don't enter the conspiracy debate. They look like Benfica fans from the 90's complaining about Porto :p . Despite some suspicious activity from Porto's board (which happened), I'm perfectly aware that Porto was years ahead from other teams in terms of squad.
That was mainly due to marketing strategies they had that gave them a lot of money for transfers. They were the first club to successfully implement Corporate Seatings and sell those tickets at skyrocket prices.

The first one? A penalty? Of course in Benfica Forum or the Pedro Guerras of this life it might be, but the non sectarians I know do know with Braga there is always 6 points in the pocket.

I mean, Vieira and Salvador have a lot of things to build in Seixal, what a joke.

You clearly have no clue how Portuguese football is. Benfica and Porto are 2 of the most corrupt clubs I know and the Portuguese league is second only to the Greek league in terms of corruption. I can write papers of corrupt decisions in the past 3 years alone let alone the last 10.

So I was watching some games of the Sub-23 and highlights of others and I have to say there was one player that really stood out. Matheus Nunes who we acquired from Estoril in the winter window and I must admit I did not know anything about him and did not think he would be any good because he only had 45m played all season for Estoril.

Boy was I wrong! that kid has a lot of potential very talented on the ball good vision and passing and he always plays with his head up. Looks head and shoulders above everyone in the Sub-23 and I hope he gets called for pre season especially if Bruno is sold,

@SCP and @Peyroteo have you guys watched him play yet?

I haven’t followed him closely but heard some positive things on Sporting Forum, but for me we have 4 players on loan who have to return. Matheus Pereira, Bragança, Gelson Dala and Mama Balde.

I see Bragança more as someone who can fill Gudelj or Wendel role, would be very surprised if that player can do that, as I don’t believe Geraldes has the quality to do that, replace BF.

I like what Mama Balde can add to the team. Hard working player. As for Dala I dont think he will ever be a starter in Sporting or even a bench player. I like Braganca and Matheus HAS to be a starter next season. Has more talent then anyone in our squad for the winger position.

Ivanildo is also having a very consistent and good season in the surprise team of the season.

Watch the gif in the link i provided. Its clear his leg is kicked as hes about the receive the ball. Funny how the player who made the challenge didnt protest much.

I am Portuguese. I know Portuguese football. Sporting fans are exactly like Liverpool fans. Next year is always your year! And when next year comes and you dont win there is always excuses about corruption. Its never the simple fact that Porto and Benfica are better. Benfica has the best team and youth academy in Portugal so its not shocking to be in first place.

Benfica are the most corrupt team in the country. If you think there is no corruption in Portuguese football then I am willing to bet you are a SL Merda fan for sure.

Luís Filipe Vieira. Paulo Gonçalves. César Boaventura. Porta 18. Toupeiras. I rest my case, this last game looked like twilight zone.

No problem with not winning but everybody knows how you won in 2015/16. Your club is protected by the state. Sorry yes there is corruption and your reply shows you have no problem with being ruled by a gangster.

I rather go compete on the lower leagues in Spain than having to compete against criminals who run your club.

Don’t like the answer don’t reply. If you try then don’t feel insulted if I reply the same thing.

Their club is the most disgusting thing in the country and only Benfica fans think there is no corruption.

You barely even scratched the surface with what you said in your post and that says so much about the state of that disgusting club. The day they get sent to the Segunda the better even though it would never be allowed.

Its not in fact part of it is our fault too. But if you think for one second Benfica were the "champions" in 04/05 and especially in 15/16 where we bossed SL Merda and Porto all season then your delusional. Both of those season were daylight robbery. Thats not even to go into full detail about that shite you call a club.

I have a problem with the club as the people who run it are part of it presidents come and go Benfica will always be the same. I never insulted anyone I insulted the club if you could even call it an insult when the truth is being said.

But either way I'm going to continue watching Ajax and pretend that this is what Keizer will do:lol:(sarcasm)

One thing I must admit is it seems our scouting system has improved dramatically. Doumbia was a great pick up and is talented. Matheus Nunes is a big talent, Borja is a good squad player, and Luiz Phellype has been scoring goals and making an impact.

Now I see we are really interested in Moussa Djenepo and though I only know him because of FIFA if you watch his videos he is rapid and has great technical ability which allows him to beat 2 to 3 players similar to how Gelson would except it also seems he has decent finishing as well and he is still only 20.

These are the types of moves the club has to make find gems in lesser leagues and bring them over while we can afford them. I hope the deal for Moussa goes through.

They have a big crop of talent coming and with the mass exodus that will happen this summer I see a lot of them being promoted.

Felipe,Herrera,Brahimi,Militao, and Possibly Corona and Telles all leaving.

I will be surprised if next season more than 1 of this players will be part of their squad. I hope so, it’s mind boggling if at least Diogo Queirós and Diogo Leite aren’t promoted to the first team.

This kid is really talented, curiously enough doing the same position as Dalot, he played before as central midfielder, without saying what will happen in the future, resembles the same type of fullback like Kimmich or Alexander Arnold.

Came across this..... God we were sooooo freakin good! I can't understand how we did not win the title that year. Unfathomable. We were the best team in the league by a large margin.

Porto has a fantastic crop, but they still don't have the culture to over rely on youth. They prefer only to pick young players who are already good enough for the first team.

IMHO, despite what BdC says, his DoF scouting was pretty much basic by hiring players who were hyped on their countries media, and that comes with a price.

I do think the nordic markets should be more explored by our clubs for several reasons:
1 - They had revamped their youth system and now Sweden / Danmark / Norway are usual costumers at youth competitons.
2 - Their wage caps are very low compared to our top clubs.
3 - They actually make some interesting scouting on the african and latin american market.
4 - Their national players won't mind changing their league for our sunny weather :D
5 - They can't sell players by an expensive price tag.

They have a solid project that kept them in the top division for several seasons without having to battle for relegation (so far)

Skov Olsen seems to be a very hot prospect IMHO

Also there center back Nelsson is also one worth keeping an eye on. They have a youth academy in Africa which helps to identify even more unknown talents.
