Anyone not following the rules will be warned and perma banned from the thread. Please abide by the following list.

DON'T:

  • Post anything from clear BS accounts.
  • Post anything from clickbait tabloid accounts.
  • Post anything from aggregator sites (Utdreport etc) who don't link to original source and tend to make stuff up for retweets/follows.
  • Post anything that was tweeted more than three days ago. If it wasn't posted before then, nobody cares.
  • Use the thread to argue about the players United are linked with compared to those that a club like City are signing. If you want to moan, make a new thread.
  • Use the thread to moan about people who are moaning.
  • post offtopic comments in the thread. Keep the thread small and simple rather wasting pages on discussion about the quality of the player
  • post more than two tweets per post.
  • post joke/piss take tweets
  • post a non-English tweet without a basic translation
Tweets from actual journalists who work for well known media outlets are always best. (Examples - Di Marzio, Mitten, Ogden, Mathieson, Marcotti, Jackson, Ducker etc)

Last year's blacklist still applies and we will add or subtract new accounts to the below list as appropriate.

Antero Henrique (PSG sporting director) and De Gea in discussion/talks

According to Paris United, the Ligue 1 champions’ director of football, Antero Henrique, has been in contact with De Gea’s entourage ‘for weeks’.

However, not a lot has come from it, as the website make it clear everything is still at the ‘gathering information’ stage, explaining the goalkeeper’s decision will ‘largely depend’ on whether or not Manchester United qualify for the Champions League.

Yes I can see PSG bidding for DDG, they are always after the big name players. I'm guessing they will also try to sign Mata, thus completing the set, all our Spanish Amigos gone

You see, this is what is wrong with the 'story'. Since De Gea is a large part of whether or not we qualify for the CL, this implies he is deliberately sabotaging our top 4 ambitions so that he has a reason to leave. Which is clearly bollocks.

I really do not blame him. He is too good for this shambles we are in. He is gone.
He came back to us, helped us with a couple trophies only to see Young and Jones' contracts renewed, a decrepit Sanchez pick up extraordinary wages, Lukaku join and become overweight, and the new manager come out openly and say change was more than a seasons work away.

Coming off a World Cup win, I doubt that's the mess be wants to be part of. Not to mention every misstep being his fault in the media and many a fans mouth.

He has his faults, but he is blamed for everything and I dont agree with it at all. He has made mistakes but he is by far our most important player. I hope we replace him properly.

No it doesn't. It suggests he wants to be at a club that can compete for the top trophies.

Among our current players Pogba is the only one that we cannot replace with someone of a similar or better quality or abilities (assuming Oblak is willing to come and replace DDG). And since most of our attacking play revolves around him we will struggle against balanced defenses next season without him on the pitch.

To make up for it we have to sign defenders and a deep midfielder than can carry the burden of what Pogba does in terms of build up in deep areas and also sign players that can carry the ball forward. You are right, we cannot directly replace him.

Ogden: "Sources have told ESPN FC, however, that some of Pogba's club teammates expect him to push for a move this summer if United fail to qualify for the Champions League -- an outcome which is now increasingly likely... United's determination to keep Pogba, rooted as much in the player's commercial value as his contribution to the team, may yet prompt the club to discuss a new contract with his advisors in an effort to put an end to Madrid's efforts.
But while sources have told ESPN FC that Madrid's interest in Pogba is strong and long-standing, the club are unwilling to add further strain to their huge wage bill by offering him a contract worth more than his United deal..."

That is the hope. Sell our crown jewel to replace a half dozen faulty gears so that we can at least run smoothly..

This thread is going to busy this Summer. Watch all the rats jump ship with no CL football, doubt we'll get who we want but will get a few out.

The most likely reason for why we might not let him go to RM is that certain people at the club thinks his Marketability is impossible to replace, not his footballing ability.

We'll still be left with Darmian.:D

Still,at the end of the day,on one hand I can see where Pogba is coming from with regards to our current instability/plight but on the other hand if players dont want to be here and put up the commitment and fight in getting us back to those lofty heights then that's a bye,bye from me.

I’m sorry, but while I agree he’s arguably our best player this fawning over Pogba fecking winds me up, he hasn’t exactly been pulling up any trees himself this season and his constant dick waving at Madrid or Barcelona is annoying, get your fecking head down and help the team qualify for CL, same goes for De Gea. Seriously, Crown Jewels my arse, if these guys ain’t happy, get rid, move on.

Well, it looks like he did the right thing financially because he'll probably never get an offer like that again. I don't think he'll realise his potential but atleast he earned decent money for a couple of years...

Would make sense, his stats and when he fancies it he is great but so often games just bypass him and he seems seriously disinterested, 150m and add that to the budget of 250m would give us 400m plus any other sales to seriously revamp the squad.

I'm not of the opinion that we cannot attract players without Champions League football, maybe not the elite but we have been paying mental wages for supposed world class stars and look where that has gotten us.

Hate to say it but we need to take a leaf out of Liverpool's book, Klopp decided on his style of play and went after players who fit that style, not signing world class players just because they are available but going after Salah (no one was interested when they signed him from Roma), Mane, Firmino, Wijnaldum, Keita, Fabinho, Robertson, Milner etc.

How many of them were world class players when they were signed, hardly any of them, Van Dijk and Alisson probably the only two who were bought for mega money but he has bought players who fit his style.

United on the other hand see the commercial value of a player, his social media presence and just assume that we can "fit them in" once they are here, this needs to change and maybe missing out of Champions League will help towards that.

Much prefer United to go after Werner, Sancho, Brooks, Neves, Doucoure, Rice, Wan Biasska, Ndombele, Fernandes etc. these type of players than Cavani or Bale on insane wages.

If selling Pogbe helps towards that then so be it, could be a similar situation to Liverpool selling Courtinho and using that money to improve the side elsewhere.

As long as the money is spent wisely I don't think Pogba would be missed.
