They could have signed those guys without selling Coutinho.
They did get Van Dijk based on the sale of Coutinho as well. I don't think they would have gone and bought all of them if they didn't sell Coutinho. It's not just the transfer budget but the wage budget that needs to be balanced.

I see Aulas is up to his old tricks, I kind of love that dude. Claiming both Manchester clubs in for him but he’d rather sell to Juventus. Basically stoking the fire of you should offer more money.

He’s been a bit of a legend for as long as I can remember with Benzema, Essian and others I’ve long forgotten but he was always on fire. We should see if he fancies being the United sporting director part time  he’d have convinced someone that Lingard is worth 65 mil or something and he’s doing them a favour selling for 50.

The times I saw Ndombele play, he was a box-to-box midfielder. Can he play as Defensive midfielder?

How do you rate Ndombele compared with Rice, Ndidi, Rodri, Neves and Tielemans?

It’s a weird 1 because I wouldn’t say he is like any of those things and is more a man for every position. He can do a bit of it all.

Pogba out bring in Ndombele and Rabiot.

Rice for the defensive role and these two in the midfield. That's about 120 million on its own.

IMO Ndombele would be a good replacement for Herrera.

If we sell Pogba, we can get Ndombele and Bruno Fernandes for that money. I would add a player like Rodri, Neves or Rice to our midfield of 3.

Unfortunately, it seems that big team like Madrid, Juventus and PSG are after Ndombele.

What would be your midfield of 3 for next season?

When you see the teams after him, can't see him opting to play Europa.
I look at Juve's squad and think about them against Ajax and while N'Dombele is too similar to Pjanic to be a perfect fit, I think that makes too much sense. 2 passers of that quality in a double pivot should suit them, can use Ramsey or Betancur as the legs in a 3 man midfield.

We all love United
Is he actually hyped up like Seri? I remember Seri was really highly rated in Ligue 1 but went to Fulham in the end because nobody wanted him

His assist and goal rate is astounding. He's not perfect but he's one of the very few top players we have.
A lot are penalties though. So if we had another person who scores a lot of their penalty efforts we wouldnt be missing those ones.

@Fer He can't play as a DM, he's a CM, box to box type player.
Tielemans wouldn't even get into Lyon's starting XI, Ndombele is way better than him.

Even last season he had 6 goals and 10 assists.

Very few CM’s in football match his output. He’s such a unique footballer.

Very few CMs in football play as far up the pitch as he does and have as little defensive responsibility. Most of them play behind the striker (Sigurdsson, Reus)

Pogba has 6 goals from open play last season, and 6 all together

5 from open play this season with 7 penalties and 1 set piece

Milivojevic is a bit similar, he has 10 penalties + 1 from open play and 1 from a set piece so even more reliant on the pens than Pogba

Parejo has 2 from open play, 5 penalties and 2 from set pieces

But those 2 are actual CMs.

Reus has 13 from open play and 3 penalties

Sigurdsson 10 goals from open play, 1 set piece and 2 penalties

Assists has nothing to do with penalties though. I also think that number would have been significantly higher if the new Danny Welbeck didn't need 6 chances to score a goal

And assists arent as useful as key passes for that reason. Key passes show how many chances where a shot came from instead of a goal.

1.7 per 90 mins isnt that high. Mata has the same, Martial has 1.9 and Sanchez has 2.2

Maddison has 3.2

Rodrigo De Paul has 2.6

Dani Parejo 2.5

Eriksen 2.4 from midfield

Sigurdsson has 2.2

Milner has 1.9

Pogba has 1.7

So yeah I guess thats much better than Milivojevic, but Milivojevic is much better defending and plays a proper CM role. Most everyone else is more creative than hes been for us.

I doubt clubs will be more interested in milivojevic then in pogba who may I remind you again is our main assist man

There are a couple of players who are taking a corner and free direct kick which create key passes if they attempted shot from the corner and free kick. Pogba doesn't.

Pogba has taken 27 corner kicks in the league and 26 freekicks with attempted passes. I'm sure its less than some of the others but he has taken corners and freekicks this season. 16 set piece shots himself and 10 penalty attempts

Which means what?

That players finished his chances better than Martial and Sanchez's set up passes.
Cause its silly. His assists and goals speaks for themselves and were achieved at a club that is a circus both in terms of talent and in terms of management. He is a WC winner and one of the most respected midfielders in the world. The only ones who do not rate him are some of our fans, which kind of explains, why our team is were it is now. If we rate 'workrate' and 'getting stuck' over talent then you can't really be shocked when your team end up filled with donkeys.

Aouar and Ndombele could work out well and in place of Fekir in the trequartista role, we could have Felix.
I wasn’t thinking of it being like Lyon. If anything I’d want Aouar free’d up to go and do what he does best which is attack, effectively replacing Pogba (if he were to leave) Ndombele in the Herrera role and then a good DM.

You could I guess then go and play Felix as a trequartista or false 9 either as the false 9 in 3 up top, or behind the two strikers.

Afaik, key passes don't really discriminate for quality of shot. So even a 5 yard horizontal pass to a teammate who then turns and takes a shot from 30 yards out counts as a key pass. It also doesn't account for the passes that create chances. To make an example, take ajax goal yesterday. If VdB squares it to Tadic for an open goal tap in instead of shooting himself, he'd get the key pass in the stats, but the pass that created the chance was Ziyech's

You're being far too simplistic. A team is about balance. Its fine to have a Pogba if the rest of the team makes up for it with hard work and covering him defensively. But you should probably only have 1 player like that at the best of times.

Barcelona, City and Ajax for example all have their forward players pressing and closing down which Pogba doesnt always do. Some games he does fine, others he's only interested when we have the ball and tracks back like hes a striker.

In our team this season with Ander and Matic, we can get away with having a "midfielder" who isnt defending much at all most of the time. But in a big match against the best teams its possible that not having a 3rd midfielder to defend against an opposition's 3 man midfield can cost us. If they move the ball quickly away from Ander and Matic's players to a free player because Pogba isnt back.

But the main problem is, Ander makes that midfield work and it seems like he wont be staying. So we're going to have to find another extreme hard worker with a combative style to replace him so we're fine with Pogba in attack.

If you want to call that player a donkey, so be it. But thats what counterbalances Pogba

That's true, in the end you need to put all stats in context and actually watch full games.

This is what I have been saying all along, then people come up with arguments like he needs better players alongside him and stuff.

@Get young talent He's nowhere near Pogba, got none of the creativity and offensive ability that Pogba offers, his passing range is still vastly inferior to Pogba albeit good. He is a fine signing but not a Pogba replacement, right now he's not fit to lace his boots.
Also he wasn't good against Barca, especially the 1st leg, think he got a 3/10 in l'Equipe or something
