Is it even possible that I have a voting slip for the European Elections but not the local council ones tomorrow? I registered to vote over a year ago at my new address, surely there isn’t two different places you need to register for different elections.

PS. Sorry for jacking the thread for my issue.

May be a dumb question but do you definitely have locals in your area? It's not country-wide - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_United_Kingdom_local_elections

But yeah if you do, you should be registered. Remember you don't need your polling card to vote so if it's got lost, just turn up.

Yeah definitely do. I have a shared letter box, so it might have just got lost. I’ll just head over with some ID and hope for the best.
You can register online @Dan_F, up to the 8th May. We're still abroad but will be back in the UK in time for the Euro elections, so I registered yesterday, just in case we've missed a voting registration form whilst we've been away.

Dan's saying that he doesn't have a slip for the local elections. There's no issues with the European ones as he's got the slip in the post.

You don't need the polling card and only need ID if you're in one of 10 areas.

Edit: Not the easiest to find the areas but they are these:

"Pendle, East Staffordshire and Woking - voters will be asked to show photo ID before they are given their ballot papers.

Ribble Valley, Broxtowe, Derby, North Kesteven and Braintree – voters will have to present either one form of photo ID or up to two forms of non-photo ID.

Mid Sussex, Watford and North West Leicestershire – voters will need to bring their poll cards as a means of identification."

That only adds up to 96%?
Anyway based on that
around 47% for pro brexit policies
around 28% for anti brexit policies
and 21% in favor of unicorns
Paul Mason keeps talking about a possible anti brexit progressive coalition but the labour party won't change its position any time soon, liberals might not vote labour even if the party backed a second referendum, the green will never move and Change UK are more interested in themselves.

The Remain side really is fecking shite.

indeed - I think if there was a 2nd referendum it would be very hard to imagine a cohesive and effective remain campaign
in the end perhaps May will roll that dice if she can structure the vote as her deal or remain?

even combined, assuming labour is a remain party, that vote is 49-47. and you would have to assume there will be some labour defections to the leavers if they declare as remain, and any labour gains will be readjusting within the existing 49.

Did UKIP previously poll well leading up to European elections or is this new ground Farage is making on the coat-trails of Brexiteer outrage?

I didn't think you *had* to bring your card anywhere

Think ukip won the Most votes in the last EU elections actually... So yeah low turn out and some passionate anti-eu votes I suspect the brexit party will do well... I think ukips gone too bongo bongo land / batshit crazy far right for most who voted for them before ... But they are comfortable with farrage level bigotry

Mason argument then is to have a culture war over Brexit(I wish I was joking)

37% Hard brexit (no deal) ...brexit and ukip
24% soft brexit (Mays deal or customs union) ... Conservative and labour
32% remain (libs cuks green)

I can only see the conservatives switching to a (mis) "managed no deal" and the labour leadership (reluctantly) switching to remain

Have a feeling the Brexit and Lib Dem numbers are inflated.

Not really been paying attention but I don't want us to throw away our votes (4 of us) either. Look what happened in America. I usually vote Labour but should I go lib dem to register my strong remain sentiment?

If you feel strongly about remaining then yeah, you should.

These EU elections solve nothing if there is a deal done, as none of the winners will take their seats.

The real watershed is the decimation of the two main parties. The Tories will be hammered and Labour is in danger of going the same way. Its true that if the Brexit party wins significantly they will claim it supports the original referendum result and democracy. The Remain vote is likely to be split every which way, the Liberals look to be having the better of it, but the real damage to Labour will result from the number of members who 'lend their votes' to the Liberals/Greens. Any chance of a Socialist Government led by Labour in the GE that will have to follow on from the 31st Oct, will have been strangled at birth.

If you are a Labour voter and a remainer, then you might finish up 'pi**ing on two fires, if you lend your Labour vote elsewhere. What a decision you have to make?If you are a Tory and leaver you can risk backing the Brexit party, because those two will make friends come a GE. If you are a Tory and a remainer, you're in the wrong party altogether!

I think a whole load of us are in this boat. Seems like more than a few will take the plunge too - I know I will because I really don't think we've got very much to lose. Genuinely fail to see what a vote for Labour in the Euros actually accomplishes beyond providing continued life support to their hapless, middle of the road, chickenshit sentiment.

Micheal Heseltine has had the conservative whip suspended from him and there's calls to expel him from the party. The reason for the actions is because he said he'd vote lib-dem in the euro elections.

Easy enough choice for me this morning, although not a fan of d'Hondt. Results won't be until Sunday night.

Now Accepting Positive Reps.
My girlfriend's cousin and partner in Scotland have voted Conservative because people have been picking on Theresa May. My girlfriend probed a tiny bit and there was literally no understanding of anything beyond that.

Yes I agree. The next Tory PM may well use this as a reason for a No Deal exit.
Gawd help us all.
I have this feeling that somehow Farage is being funded by senior Tories, perhaps I’m paranoid but I just can’t shake it.

EDIT: it’s probably because Farage and Boris seem to be the two benefitting most from this election result.

My ballot didn't even turn up from the UK. During the 2016 ref it turned up the day after the result. Thanks England yet again..
