I dont think this guy is the answer. Seems to lack in the playmaking department. I feel we need a complete striker that can not only score but also create. Similar to a Suarez/Rooney/Kane/Firmino type forward. They are definitely hard to find though

Just seems like he’d be a very underwhelming signing. Also a bit of a cnut. Don’t want.

Do you rate Icardi better than Lukaku?
Lukaku arguably have a bit more to his all round game, but Icardi in the box is just as good as they come. I genuinely think he'd have a similar influence to strikers like RVP and RVN. I've lost count of the amount of times he's popped up with big goals. I rate him more than Lukaku, and would be open to a swap even plus cash if need be.

Much rather see us go with hungry strikers already accustomed to the PL. Richarlison, King, Jota, Jimenez - those sort of low maintenance players who will give their all and are not short of talent.

What's his movement like? Is it type of movement very good on the shoulder of the last defender/linking up with midfield or depending on crosses from wide position?

Good question because he'd be fecking pointless if it's the later.

Movement in and around the box and his finishing with either foot are his strongest attributes but his allround game is tidy enough.
Just image a better Hernandez and you've pretty much got Icardi.

See,if Icardi is on the market I would be all over him.I think he's fantastic player with great technical qualities in the box.Plus he has character and spirit.
But unfortunately that character and charisma also coincides with quite a ego, which has in the past gone against him with confrontations with teammates, management and club owners.
Combine that with his wife Wanda and you have quite a pair of narcissists on your hands.

Now Wanda herself has quite a reputation in Italy as she appears on mainstream TV quite regularly as a pundit but,to be fair to her,she does talk a great deal of sense even if it does comes out abit abruptly at times.

Overall,I'd be surprised if Ole makes a strong move for him purely because of his character.
Personally,as a fan,I would go for him purely to spice up the club.:D

There is not room for his ego at United.
Honestly I miss Ibra, RVP, Ronaldo, RVN, etc that had that giant ego and backed it up.

I think we'd be mad not to at least think about this. Someone who just wants to score goals, regardless of everything else would be interesting for once. The guy barely needs a chance, just give it to him and he scores. We've missed that for far too long.

I just got to learn that Icardi's conversion rate is not all that impressive. In fact, Lukaku has a better conversion rate than he does. I think our team lacks leaders and experience. I would almost take a punt with Cavani. He's 32 but still could help Rashford flourish and bring that intelligence and composure what we are lacking at the moment. I think he could bring what Zlatan brought with more mobility to the team.

One of the biggest issues nowadays is big egos...clubs like Utd and Chelsea have suffered and are still suffering a lot because of players egos "getting out of control".
This can only be addressed by choosing the right players and avoiding the Icardis of this world.
(Mind you I think that s the reason that Ljajic move to Utd fell some time back - staff realised we were signing a cnut)

I disagree with including Chelsea here. We shouldn’t confuse big personalities that want to win at all cost with divas. Chelsea haven’t signed many of the latter. Matter a fact it seems to be a consistent policy at the club.

And before anyone mentions the name, Costa does not fall into the big ego me me me category.

I'm not comparing him as i've not seen much of him, but Cantona was viewed as a trouble maker in France before he made his name in England. You never know how a player will settle at a club

We do need a striker but Icardi is not the person to help us with our goal striking drought. If Cavani is available for 20m, wouldn't be a bad idea.

Sorry but everyone of those names screams midtable to me and if we went that route then we would be staying 5th/6th for a while

I'd have my reservations about signing Icardi, but comparing him to Joshua King, and the rest of them is utterly hilarious.

Well you’re right that they’re all currently mid table but my point is that they’re all doing the business for mid table teams and could - or should - flourish with mega million players teeing them up.

I just think they are flourishing because they are at their level, I could be wrong though and would obviously back them if they joined.

I later commented on my post that I don't like his agent wife. She was pointed out in this thread as the source of the drama and/or ego related to Icardi, which I am holding against a possible purchase, although he is undoubtedly very talented.

Wtf hahahah

Even though Icardi wouldn’t be “better” than Lukaku in terms of production necessarily (probably a wash or maybe even a loss), I really wouldn’t mind a swap as he is more fluid and less static up front which is to the mould of what Ole and the team wants - which I agree with and am sure a lot of people prefer.

But man is this guy ever a diva. What a character :lol:

My problem isn't with Icardi, it's with Wanda. She's someone outside the club who can cause trouble. It's not the same as when it was just Cantona.

We would need another striker if we buy him. He is a glorified Javier Hernandez. He comes alive in the box and offers very less in other departments. His finishing is lethal though.

Won't suit the way we want to play and not worth the drama he will bring with him.

Sounds like a signing we'd make

Feels very all or nothing to me - this would be the best or absolute worst move we’ve made in ages.

I’d wait until end of summer and roll the dice if we’ve not brought in enough talent.

If ever you get “offered a player” view with extreme caution! There’s probably a reason. Teams will fight to keep the best players.

The guys a finisher for sure. I don't care what he does off the pitch if he can deliver on it.

Why would we even consider this?
Inter's fans doesn't want him, why would we? Not the right character for United.
