Talented but even so there are bigger talents out there. Would be nice at the right price.

Tielemans is a playmaker, not a defensive midfielder at all.

It's interesting that if you look at his average position he tends to play on the right of the midfield for Leicester, like how Pogba plays on the left for us. So it would be a nice balance to have those two creative/attacking midfielders either side of a DM.

I suggested we sign this lad when he was looking to leave Monaco and got laughed out of the place. Look at it now...
Was too early . What we should do is to sign him now rather than LC buying him and we, trying to sign him from them couple of years later.

How much natural talent does he have? Is he one of those midfielders who are immensely gifted on the ball?

He's been a good player for a while and didn't fit the Monaco system. Jardim didn't sign him and didn't want him, he's suited to Leicester's, and our game of counter attacking quick football. He would improve our midfield no doubt, he's also played Champions League consistently and never looked out of his depth.

He is more of a Pogba than a Herrera. Could play alongside Pogba in a more offensive tactic against lesser opponents, or backup to Pogba. I was hoping Pereira would be that player, but while he has his strengths, I don't think he is ready to play for United. Even Sir McTom looks more composed than him this season, despite having less first team experiences.

Has a Rakitic vibe in him imo. Not the quickest player, but really good on the ball, can pass, spread the play and a pretty good shot to go with it.

I would take him. Not sure if it's too early, but we certainly could use someone who won't hide at first sign of the opposition press. And he could cost much more in the future.

Hes an all rounder capable of playing in any of the 3 but best as the 8, the true central midfielder who will dictate games but also balance the midfield really well. Exactly the type we need as technically he is a very good player, but we also need to get a holding midfielder like Ruben Neves as well to sit behind him or next to him.

Always thought he was a good young player since I saw him play against Arsenal in europe when he was very young. He's been one of Leicester's best players since he came in along with Maddison, Pereira and Ndidi.

Unless we sign a very active DM he'd have to play in Pogba's role though on current form. At Leicester he's just been an attacking player. In the past for Anderlecht and Monaco he also put some work in defensively winning the ball with tackles and interceptions 3 or 4 times on average per game. But at Leicester he's at less than 2, around the same as Pogba. So not sure he'd go back to putting in the defensive shift. But if he did he could play on the right with us having a very combative DM signed too.

There is no reason for him to leave Leicester other than more money offered else where. He has a manager's trust, and a tactic that fits him like a glove. If he keeps playing well the big clubs will come for him anyway.

Proud of you.

Him and Jordan Veretout would be quality, understated additions to United’s midfield, without costing too much.

Neves and Tielemans are more than capable themselves to hold it; both aggressive players, both very intelligent, both very diligent defensively. Neves is perfectly capable of being the pivot player, holding midfielder in a 3 while Tielemans has played that role in the past but is perfect for the all rounder, controlling midfielder IMO. putting them as the 2 in a 4231 or as 2 of the 3 with Pogba the 3rd mid, would definitely work IMO. Definitely a huge improvement on the ball but also in terms of energy and midfield balance.

Either way think Pogba only has 1 year max left at United so we shouldn't really plan our long term midfield around him.
Not sure about that really. There's more to defending than just being aggressive (see Fred). Neves may be good as a DLP, but I think he'd need pairing with someone more mobile and defensively solid to compliment him that goes for Tielemans too - both of their best qualities are in attack. Unless we suddenly start playing like Barca or City (though even City have a more defensive player in Fernandinho), I'm not sure it would be ideal.

He is a good player for sure, but does anyone know why it didn't really work out for him at Monaco?

I remember thinking at the time when they signed him that it would be a great move for him.

Agreed. Someone like Ndombele would be great next to him.

I mean, he was okay and played double the next players games in CM and 2 off the most in DM. But Monaco's formation hasnt tended to use the kind of role he plays at Leicester where he attacks from midfield. They've played 4-2-3-1 most of teh time which is 2 DMs and 1 player in the hole behind the striker. And thats not his role and Golovin plays there.

He was generally bad and allegedly ended up not getting along with Jardim. And unlike what others suggest he wasn't used as a DM but a box to box, he was inconsistent on both sides of the ball, sometimes he showed promises just to be atrocious the next minutes, missing easy passes, not covering his area, not tracking back and things like that.

Sounds like more of what we already have at United!

In all seriousness though we should be targeting this guy instead of trying to compete with City and Madrid for players as we've no chance. We are dog wank
I agree with this, and I think Tielemans is a good young player. Get him and that kid Rice from West Ham I say

Better on the ball than Herrera, is a playmaking attributed individual, can play in the midfield. I'd take him, everyone's posting these fantasy signings how about we go back to buying what's worked in the league I'll start from defence to attack.

Nathan Ake
Aaron Wan Bissaka
Neves / Tielemans / Ndombele
Rice /
Jota / Zaha / Sancho
Richarlison

Going back to buying young promising players that could make the step up at bottom mid table clubs.. right out of Sir Alex’s handbook and should be the principle of all our transfers!

These mega money, dream signings are completely not what we need.

Sign him. Definitely an improvement over what we have and seems like great potential

Thats 40 + 40 + (80/40/60) + 40 + 75 + 75
250 +

We should invest that much to be competing again though.

pretty good player, who is also technically gifted. I wouldn't be against his signing - still very young as well. I'd rather have technical players at our team than the occasional plan B in Fellaini.

Could be as good as Christian eriksen in a couple of seasons. Buy now or regret later like we did with him.

Without being an expert on the lad, I think profile wise he would fit the type of players United should be looking at this summer.

Ole needs a fresh bunch of players without any inflated egos or transfer fees! a competent board show be able to attract him to the club.
