Pretty much cursed by injuries in all his time there. Just when he was starting to score goals he'd get an injury and it would be a serious 6-9 month one at that as indeed he got this season. Can barely remember him even getting a thigh strain when he played for you guys.

Will probably even up at Everton/Palace/Newcastle/West Ham or go abroad (think some Turkish clubs been linked with him).

Him and Sturridge really had identical careers in last 5 years. Both would easily still be in England squad if they'd stayed fit so you'd have nice mix of options with Kane, Rashford, Sterling and Sancho across front 3.

Have to say the header he scored v Real Madrid was really good, stick up a YT video of that.

We already have so many players in our squad who aren't good enough, so the last thing we should do is to go and add....another squad player, who is also very injury prone.

Good luck to Welbeck though.

Scored a goal at the Bernabeu in Fergie's last year.

Finished 1-1 and we were 1-0 up in the return game at OT until that cnut ref sent Nani off and we lost 2-1.

I like Welbeck but he was never anywhere near Sturridge’s level tbh.

Remember the numerous mental threads on here when he left about “selling our soul” and how we miss him etc

Ole to bring back Welly and pair him with Rashy in a 442?
2 false strikers upfront. Literally it would like having the Neville brothers playing upfront.

Good player, crippled by injuries. I didnt think we should have sold him when we did, especially given some of the players we used in his stead.

Zup Zup Nada etc...

To be fair to him, I’ll always give him props for leaving to further his career, even though he was never good enough, that’s more than a lot of our past and present players who are happy just collecting the pay check.

Always been shite.

I said when he was here when somebody was telling us all he was a "future united captain", that they were having a laugh, he will be sold before the end of next season, and will struggle to match Shola Ameobis goal tally across his career.

Ameobi has 96 career goals.

Danny Welbeck is 28, he isnt finding another 27 league goals before he retires or has to quit the game because he cant find a club.

In fact, Welbeck would need another 6.13 years given his average appearance/goal return to match one of the worst strikers to have graced the Premier league.

I was never really sure what type of player he was tbh, not clinical or instinctive enough to be a out and out goalscorer and not at the level to be top quality number 10.
Talented but limited, he'd do ok for a mid table PL club, so no doubt he'll come back here.

Used to have quite following here.

Was never good enough. Would suit teams like Everton, Palace etc better.

Not really sure any current Premier League side should sign him as he's a big risk but wouldn't be surprised if they did.

A move to Rangers or Derby to link up with one of his ex-England teammates would be more worth the risk and good for all concerned, maybe even a return to Sunderland if they come up to the Championship. Failing that there's always MLS.

That was classy by Arsenal. Welbeck would improve us despite what people say. He was great for Arsenal under Emery before injury. However, I think he should be looking at a club where he would be a regular and imitate a player like Callum Wilson.

He was never "great" for arsenal.
He averaged about 4 goals a season for them.

He would not improve us in any way shape or form. It's amazing anyone thinks differently.

Obviously not a long term first 11 player but if we get him on a free and on a reasonable wage I really don't see why not. Offcourse we need to sign 4 to 5 starters this summer

Under a tree.
His Bambi on ice style fecked him over, won't be surprised to see him announce his retirement soon...

Will always remember his 45 minutes Vs Real where he momentarily possessed fat Ronaldo's god like powers

Good player, we're letting him go because of his injuries, he always played when fit. Doubt any top tier team will go for him. A bottom half team could take a punt if they are able to match his salary demands.
