There really isn't, it's been so crazy, actually it already started a few years ago.

I thought Ajax was out after their loss against Real
I thought Ajax was out after their draw against Juventus
I thought Juventus was out after their loss in Madrid
I thought United was out after their loss against PSG
I thought Liverpool would struggle after our draw against Bayern
I thought City would still progress after their loss in Tottenham
I thought we didn't stand a chance against Barca last night

All in one season. Absolutely bonkers.
I really feel for the people who gamble on all of these matches.

Never going to happen. It's one thing to be complacent and switch off against Roma and another to repeat it against a much better team 1 year later when the wounds are still fresh from that freak result.
Are you going to criticize Valverde now?

So what do we think about tonight? Normally I'd say Ajax is the obvious choice but the way this CL season has played out, it's hard to make any predictions at all... Spurs have the major advantage (compared to us last night) that they don't need to worry about conceding or away goals - just win with any other score than 0-1 and you're in the final. I think they can do it, but Ajax will be up for it as well. Really looking forward to the game and hoping for an early Spurs goal.

I'm still hesitating which team I'd rather face in the final. Not sure how Ajax would fare against us, but Spurs know us well and generally match up quite well to us. If not us, much much rather Ajax than Spurs though.
Ajax are the clear favourites. More injuries for us (again, ffs) and they have the advantage from the first leg. They're an excellent team all over as well.

The straws I'm clutching at currently:

-Sissoko is back!
-Son is back!
-It will arguably be the first time that Ajax are favourites in the competition so will be interesting to see how they cope with that
-One of the Dutch posters was suggesting that the Netherlands are collectively talking about how Ajax are going to fare in the final already and I saw one of their forums where some of the posters were talking about a 4-0 victory etc. In fairness, I don't blame them for their confidence but hopefully the players are the same :D

God forbid if the English or even PL fans in general show the same attitude, they're widely attacked on here if they ever say anything like that! :D

Seriously though, they are definitely the favourites and if they go through, I wish them well, what an incredible story it would be.

Obviously for me it's been great because Liverpool are in the final now, but has this been the best/most unpredictable Champions League in a while? The comebacks in second legs have kept it very interesting.

When you think how hard our boys worked last night out running them by 6km I hear and that war our third game in 6 days while Barca rested their entire first 11 at the weekend. Maybe they should have played and kept their momentum

One of my best mates is a Liverpool fan - as soon as the game ended we both agreed to get to Madrid for the final if Spurs get through tonight. Just checked flights... feck me.

We wouldnt be getting tickets, just going over for the craic and the atmosphere. To be brutaly honest as much as I would love to be there I'm not going to spend the guts of £400 for a flight over, thats before trying to find somewhere to stay for one night.

We did the same since we were planning a weekend away with our football team anyway. Accommodation in Madrid is through the roof as well that weekend, couldn't find anything under 10k for 20 people.

It was before the QFs so opted for Manchester instead, knowing that City, Utd or Liverpool still had the possibility to reach the final. Really happy we did now although Madrid would probably be a notch above.

I don't know your budget but you could try to fly into Malaga for example, return tickets in the €350-400 range.

Just rewatched the highlights.

When Gini gets his first and goes to take the ball from the keeper, ter stegen rolls around clutching his face as if Wijnaldum hit him.

Absolutely pathetic bunch.

To be fair, that was just some jealous hater who supports Feyenoord :wenger:

But honestly, yes, it's all about the final and how Liverpool might be a better opponent than Barcelona. It reminds me of 2008 when we demolished Italy, France and Romania and all we did was discuss the opponents in the semi's and the final. No one took into account that Hiddink's Russia squad could pose any sort of thread to our untouchable group of superstars.

Until they fecked us out of the tournament.

It takes one corner bouncing into the goal from Llorente's head in the first ten minutes to make it square. And then Ajax has the away goal shite to contend with. This tie is not over at all.

Read D. Sanchez is out for Spurs so they'll be starting 4 at the back tonight (surprised Vertonghen is fit but they need him otherwise it would be Foyth lunging in). They improved when they went to that formation last week.

Think Ajax will go through just but can certainly see Spurs scoring at some point which will keep them very much in the tie.

I think Vertonghen has had all the tests and also been assessed by independent neurologists and has no signs of concussion, seems to have potentially broken his nose though so he'll apparently be wearing a mask. And yes, back 4, not 5 please.

I'm unsure if we should start Llorente tbh or not. I'm also unsure of who we'd partner with Sissoko. I miss Winks. And Kane and Lamela for that matter.

You are a hateful bastard in fairness! :D

I knew it was you but couldn't find your exact username for some reason and didn't want to butcher it.

Sissoko hat-trick incoming, followed by a bicycle kick winner in the final and the balon d'or. It is the only acceptable return for his season....

Yeah that's why although I hate you (:smirk:) if I had to choose one team that I would like this to happen to it's Barcelona.

this is the end of pochettino at spurs. he's leaving. he's trying to jinx win tonight by saying they need a miracle.

man united may still go for him

No it isnt.
did you hear his ajax press conference? he says he will leave if spurs win the cl. but... he will still leave regardless of whether they win it or not. it's clearly showing in his body language.

Infinitely better than having another defender on the bench and a player who gives his all whenever he's on the pitch and a sly bugger as well.

He'll probably get himself injured in the warm up again.
Yep gives us an attacking option we never had in the 1st leg, he was popping up with some important goals early on in the season before he got injured and he relishes these kind of matches, you know he'll put in 100% every time.

I don't think either Spurs or Ajax can stop Pool in the finals unless Klopp's finals curse kicks in

Outplayed them in the first leg despite the score

Outplayed them rotten in the second half and blew them away

Is it fair to say the 2 best teams in Europe right now are now 2 English Teams in City and Liverpool??
Yes

That must have been the 'possible red card' they were checking. Should have booked Ter Stegen in that case.

If Barca appealed against the corner goal after it happened do you think it could have been reverted? I can’t remember if they did or not after it went in but I don’t think they did.

Based on what grounds? There's nothing wrong with taking a quick corner or FK unless I'm forgetting something?

I do not care if you ("you" in this case means the average Red Cafe user that supports United and hates Liverpool irrationally, I am not speaking directly to any specific user) hates Liverpool with passion. If you can not appreciate, admire and feel the beauty and wonder of what Liverpool and its supporters did today, I pity you and you do not love football.
I pity you for contributing this nonsense to the forum and everybody for having to suffer it.

True, but I'm just a bit sick of watching Lamela run in to players tbh. He's useful for his workrate and as an option, but I can't bring myself to be that devastated when he's out.

He had a good start to the season and then completely tailed off. Even minus the injuries he's a hugely frustrating and inconsistent player.

It just reminded me a bit of the quick corner or throw in techniques in the past that have been ordered to be retaken because they hit it off the back of the player in front or touch it and then leave it for the next player etc. Only because TAA motions to leave it and then takes it.

I don’t have any problem with any of them or the one last night myself, i think it was fine. Was just wondering if Barca could have appealed more at the time, bit of a stretch for them perhaps but I wouldn’t have put it past them.

At this stage we need every available player - Lamela I love but even I know that realistically he hasnt been good enough/fit enough but I'll be glad to see him on the bench.
