If they're going to win the CL, it might not be a bad idea for them to win the league too. The media love-in is going to be sickening if they win the CL, and similar when they do eventually win the league, so getting it all out of the way in one go might be the best thing.
May I add that Leeds might be coming back too?
I think the issue here, more than us, it's our rivals entering a period of obvious domination that is compounding things.
It's impossible to look at our season objectively when there's so much going on around us that makes us reflect in ways we otherwise wouldn't.
Our team don't even show the passion and commitment of those going for the trophies, and that is the final arrow to the heart.
At least you knew in the 80's that the players going out there, as bad as they were, would give everything they had from game to game. There's none of that now and worse than the lack of quality, the lack of heart we amble through from game to game is just draining. We don't even have promising young talent to focus on during this period.
But there was no universal success from our rivals at that time. It's not just us being bad that is making this the worst season of all, it's that those around us are going to lift all the top trophies playing football we can't even dream of. It really is the perfect storm of disaster. I bet Leeds come up, too, for the clean sweep.
