I'd rather keep Smalling than Jones. Still find it mad we gave him a new deal.
That would also be my choice, but given the circumstances, we will have to bare with Jones and sell / loan Smalling out in order to reduce our wage bill and squad size.

:(

Edit: actually our wage bill just went down by 25%, yippeee!

I think he's been on 2 pre season tours played quite a few games on them, need him back this tour play him along side lindelof or Smalling , see how they go. But he needs to come back into the squad.

Mate of mine is Villa fan, and there hoping UTD don't take him back, they love him there. Championship is a hard league,

Championship is a very tough and tight calendar: 46 games + cups! You need super athletes who can recover very fast.

So much composure on the ball and while defending. Can't be worse than jones/rojo in defence and he can actually pass.

Watch us send him on loan again () and play our panic mode players.

What's the consensus of his loan?

Did he developed enough to be in the first team next season? Pretending if one of Rojo, Jones, Smalling or Bailly leaving.

He's been brilliant according to Villa fans.

Should be a bench option over the likes of Rojo and to be honest I'd rather see him play than Jones or Bailly.

By the sounds of it he'll be taking the place of whoever we sell this summer out of Rojo or Bailly. I think he's got the potential to become a regular starter for us. His only real weakness is he's not the best in the air, but his other attributes more than make up for it.

Not being good in the air is a serious failing for a centre back. Although a lack of positional sense is more of a failing. (With a nod to Mr Jones)

I know it's not popular, but can we convert him to a DM? Pace, composure, passing, reads game well... seems to be great DM attributes.

None of our CBs except Smalling are decent in the air. I've never seen a United team conceded so many goals from setpieces since watching from the early 90s. However, he possesses speed, technique and ball playing abilities to play the high-line which Ole adopted in our initial successful run.

Comparing him to Smalling's ability in the air, he's no where near as good, he's not terrible in the air, but he's not great. Rio wasn't the best defender in the air, but he's possibly the best defender I've ever seen live. His reading of the game was exceptional and he didn't need to be great in the air. Stick Tuanzebe alongside a suitable partner and he's got a great chance of making the grade at United.

They love him there. Same with the Sheffield United fans and Dean Henderson.
Need both of them back here. Axel next season and Deano maybe season after next - after a year in the PL with Sheffield United. Makes a change from the bunch of mercenaries we currently have who don't give a feck about the club.

Rio had Vidic alongside him who literally headed everything

I’d be concerned if we dumped smalling and bought say koubilay, as he can’t head, tunazabe cant and lindelof can’t. It would be a defensive weakness

Tuanzebe can't? He's not the tallest sure but I've seen him win loads of headers.

Admittedly I haven’t seen loads of him yet but I don’t think it’s a strong point
He's improved on that this season, but that's true with all of his games given his age.

He needed to bulk up a bit most importantly. Which he has. Maybe slightly more this summer but I think he could be in our top 3 CB's by end of next season -if he continues to improve.

New CB, Lindelof and him. With Smalling in the mix too.

He's improved his heading. Check out his stats in the Villa's recent game. It was around here somewhere I think.

He's a young CB working with John Terry every day. I would be concerned if his heading didn't improve.

Watching him play as we speak. So far I've been impressed with how calm he is under pressure. Complete opposite of Smalling.

His strength is frightening! Just brushes off players like they aren't there! Amazing recovery speed too! Definitely needs to work on his positioning though

That was his man. 1-0 Dawson
It was but Dawson was smart. Ran around a bunch of who blocked off Tuanzebe. Smart move from him. No way Tuanzebe could have got there. Believe it was Mings and a WBA player who were in the way
