Apparently if they get banned, we will replace them at CL if Arsenal wins the Europa.

https://www.skysports.com/football/...itys-potential-champions-league-ban-explained

If a ban was brought in for next season, fifth-place Arsenal would get the fourth Champions League spot. Or if they were to win the Europa League, Manchester United would technically claim a Champions League spot.

If the ban was implemented for the 20/21 campaign, and City finished in the top four next season, the fifth-place side would get a Champions League spot.
....COYG?

The article states;

For how long and when would the ban be implemented?

At least one season. It could be set for next season (19/20), but with Champions League qualifiers starting in June, it is more likely any ban would start for the 20/21 campaign.

All speculation at this point.

We're turning into zombieland, if there's a mild cure, this is it.

Is there any precedent for this? Sounds way over the top. It would be laughable if we benefited from this somehow. I'd rather we earn our fortune out on the pitch...

We are not getting in the CL this way. Even if they did put the ban in place, as we see with all the transfer bans, City would appeal and I would assume be allowed to compete while the appeal is being held. None of that is happening before the competition starts, which means on the off chance that the ban is actually upheld it will be the season after likely affected.

Saying that, based on our recent history, it could still help us qualify that season :(

We can call this CL contingency plan C.

Uefa could reduce the chance of a ban by stating that any appeal deemed frivolous would result in the ban being extended to 2 or 3 times the initial decision.

So if City were banned for one or two seasons, would they then risk extending that to as many as 6 years.

As for us getting CL, relying on Arsenal is the definition of insanity.

Rule of thumb is if you're rich enough to get yourself into this you're rich enough to get yourself out of it.

UEFA reps all suddenly get new houses and cars and this thing gets forgotten about.

They'll be in the Champion's League.

Even if we got CL this way we’d get put out in the qualifiers!

How on earth would it be over the top? It's disgraceful enough they're allowed to get away with basically sponsoring themselves. The fact they went further with this and were funnelling even more of their owners money into the club is beyond belief.

And yes there is precedence https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35708136

They tried to ban Milan too but that got overturned

You are literally allowed to sponsor yourself. That's not an offence. I presume you're outraged at the name of Stoke City's stadium?

If they are found guilty of all this, shouldn’t the Premier League look at banning them from their competition as well?

Even if they do get banned they will have a right to appeal to FIFA and then CAS, so there's no chance it will be enforced in time for next season.

God I'd be so pleased.

Enforce Chelsea's transfer ban (lengthen it even!) and ban this lot from Europe for a while. Would be glorious to see the plastic sugar daddy insta success clubs get what they deserve.

Won't happen though, just a dream.

Though it would be kinda bittersweet to get into the CL this way, seeing City actually getting hit were it hurts would be glorious. Fining these clubs is a joke, this is what should have happened a long time ago when they first started talking about FFP. Let's see if UEFA are actually backing their words with action this time

How would United get CL this way? All it would do is allow Arsenal to qualify via the league. The league doesn't get an extra spot for winning a European competition, it's just the winner that qualifies, no matter their position in the league.

Be good for multiple reasons. Pep is surely gonna go all out for the CL, and we need him concentrating on the league for now.

Don't want Champions League this way I really don't. Of course we won't get in anyway because of the entire appeals process but rightfully so, we thoroughly thoroughly deserve to spend a season playing on Thursday nights.

different 'financial' rules
If UEFA found it right to ban City, then the PL would look very foolish to just pretend everything was ok on the domestic front.

Also, while for a different offence, just about every governing body in football is investigating City for one thing or another.

Banning them for the CL only strengthens their grip on the PL title. How is that a punishment?

Give them a 3 year transfer ban. With 4/5 keys players all wrong side of 30 that will be far more damaging to them.

According to Bild and Spiegel the Premier league has also launched an Investigation against Manchester City. Premier league suspects shady Sponsor deals to avoid FFP. Also under suspicion are deals with their Academy and buying Kids.

Apparently Etihad has a 90Million Sponsor deal which they only pay 9 Million and 81 Million comes from somewhere else.

I was reading something somewhere that say's exactly this.
It mentioned re-writing the record books!
Thing is, this would mean we gain 2 extra leagues and Liverpool gain 2.
Hope they get away with it!
