I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
Both DDG and Pogba could follow Herrera out. Martial seems disinterested, Lukaku’s regressed as has the undroppable Rashford who’s been convinced he’s a 22 year old Cristiano Ronaldo. Sanchez finished and Matic a shadow of his former self. The less said about Young, Jones, Smalling and Lingard the better. Although three of those have recently extended contracts and will be an integral part of our defence next season.

I just can’t see us landing the players that we need. Firstly that’ll take some competence from upper management to identify suitable targets and even then they’ll probably be snapped up by another club. Leading to panic buys of under par players. The teams above us will continue to improve and with the money in the league so will the teams below us.

So if this merry go round carries on for another few years without the club addressing the many problems we have how far, on the footballing side, can we fall?

If we don't make a huge change in the club structure, meaning if we keep going like we are now then I can easily see us finishing between 5th and 8th for the next 20 years.

I think it will get worse as we still haven’t learnt our lesson, we could easily spend a fortune this summer and be no better off, not sure of another club in Europe you could say that for.

I assumed we’d do what City did recruit two top people to run the football side, create a plan and structure etc. That would help with recruiting managers and players but it’s just business as usual with a token Technical Director which we all know will be Darren Fletcher.

Don’t think there is the competence or willingness behind the scenes to buy and sell the players required to rebuild this summer. And if it all goes wrong there isn’t any plan of what to do next or how to recruit another manager.

I think it can actually get pretty bad. If De Gea and/or Pogba go, there's our best players out the door. Let's say we start trying for this "british core" and sign Maguire and Rice and James. Then we are unable to land technically gifted footballers.

Romero
Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw
Fred Rice
Gomes
James Rashford Martial

Mid table stuff i reckon.

Liverpool win the CL.

City are docked points by the Premier League for blatant financial doping/irregularities.

Liverpool are awarded the Premier League title and, therefore, the double.

We are all subjected to an entire summer of mawkish Scouse poetry.

Longer term... further cementing our midtable obscurity with back-to-back non-top 4 finishes. Big stepdown in the value of our commercial deal = we can no longer buy our way back.

This team should be beating Cardiff, Huddersfield, Brighton, Wolves... If the players perform.

Unless we have a great summer, I genuinely think we'll be fighting for 6th & 7th alongside the likes of Wolves and Leicester. Our first team is on a similar level to those currently.

In United fan terms, only ever known us winning, 6th place is a disaster terms, we could barely sink any lower.

In real life actual football in the country terms, we could drop a million more levels

Its all about the fight. No matter who goes or stays if we can somehow start fighting and believing we will be top 4 at least as long as we dont loose de gea and Pogba. I look at liverpool and the team is not that great compared to City for example but the fight and belief and work rate is a million miles from where we are. If then on top of fight and belief and not losing our best players we somehow manage to sign 3-4 top players we wont be champions but we will be much closer.
If the dressing room and attitude doesnt change then yes we are fkd. 10th by November/December and Ole Sacked.

We could get relegated

Results and team could get worse and worse, we’ll be making less money as a result of being incompetent and irrelevant l at the highest level of football for too long, the quality of player we’ll be able to attract will be lowered with each passing season, and before you noticed we got relegated.

You can’t buy results

Leeds, in their last season in the top flight fifteen long years ago, had a relatively decent side with (ageing) seasoned professionals such as Harte, Barmby, Viduka, Wilcox, Bakke, Matteo and Batty alongside several talented youngsters of that era in Robinson, Pennant, Smith and obviously Milner. Sounds familiar? If I remember correctly they were stuck in a rut for much of the season, suffered horrible runs of form and were ultimately relegated.

I'm not saying the same fate will happen to us in the near future but if we lose both De Gea and Pogba this summer, fail to properly replace them and become even more complacent despite all the warning signs, relegation is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Relegation would probably mean the cockroaches would scamper aka Glazers and their cronies, then bought by a random billionaire.

Could actually see that scenario happening.

It’s going to get worse. We’ve been firefighting unsuccessfully without a coherent plan for ages. Other clubs with better strategy will surpass us

My predictions are:

We buy 3 players in position we don’t need. We are linked with players who play at number 10 and LW. Not quite sure how RW is still being ignored, whilst Young is first team RB at 34 years old.

We manage to sell only one of Darmian or Rojo for less than £8m.

De Gea won’t sign a new contract and we are torn between selling him at the end of the summer window or letting him go on a free.

Pogba won’t go until next season because Raiola is banned.

Solskjaer has a poor run of form simply because the squad isn’t good enough. Likely sacked around November/December time. We are 12th in the league and knocked out of the League Cup by a Championship side.

We’re not going to be relegated. Given the financial imbalances in modern football, not even Woodward could manage that. Although we have suffered succesive relegations of a sort - from Chanpions League contenders to Premier League contenders to Top 4 contenders to next season maybe Europa League contenders along with Leicester and Wolves.

It will only get to a certain level before the Glazers sell. It's like those horror films where they have to stop the patient's heart to drive out the demonic possession.

The way our club has been run, relegation is an option. If it does happen I hope it has the same effect it had on Juventus though, and we eventually end up winning the premier league like 8 times in a row

I think this season was as worse as it will get. I predict 5 new players coming in and 7 to leave. We will have a new CD,RB,RW,CM and striker. Ole to led us to EL victory LC victory and 5th in the league. The season after a new CD, LB, CM, LW will come in and we will finish 3rd.

Sadly, at our current state, Wolves and Leicester would beat us 8 times out of 10. We need a massive summer.

This! The season we just had has been coming for a while. This should act as a massive slap in the face and we will wisen up and invest accordingly

People say we can't get relegated, but if we play next season like we ended this one, it's a real possibility. I don't think it's completely unrealistic to think we might start bad and see morale and performances drop just as low. BUT, we'd surely change manager and have a huge January if it looked like it.

Look on the bright side, if we get relegated at least we'd have an outsiders shot at actually winning the league the year after.

Ah who am I kidding, 4th would be the best we could hope for!

For certain we have no Fellaini, Herrera, Valencia.

We may also lose Mata. I'm sure we'll sell at least one defender as well. Rojo and Darmian almost certain. Maybe Bailly.

De Gea is irrelevant. If we sell him, we trigger the Oblak release clause and end up roughly same place with a younger keeper on probably more sensible wages.

Pogba I would imagine is a net gain, I.e. if he goes we get two players for his price. He might be a star occasionally, but he is a burden a lot.

So focusing on the outs, ignoring Pogba and De Gea for now....

Herrera and Fellaini replacements....Tiliemans and/or Rabiot most linked
Valencia replacement...Wan Bisaka or a versatile wing back....probably surprise name
Mata replacement....James as versatile quick option, but also expect a Bergwijn or with best endeavours Sancho
Darmian/ Rojo replacement....Koulibaly heavily linked. Would also expect Tuanzebe to be in the squad next year.

That's a minimum of 5 new names and a few out. We'll ideally need more, but I think the above will be mixed with more time for Gomes/ Chong/ Greenwood/ Laird.

I expect a lot to be done, watch this space....

I honestly think we will finish behind Everton and Leicester next season, possibly even further down than that, 10th/12th.

We really are that bad at the moment, and as much as we love OGS, I have zero confidence in him turning this around.

Regarding relegation, probably not....... but can you imagine fans continuing to pay £950 a season ticket, £5 for a 330ml bottle of Heineken, and £4.75 for a soggy hotdog? I doubt it would go down well.

Feels like we keep asking this question whenever we fire a manager and hire a new one, only to realize that it can indeed get worse. Meanwhile, the egotistic clown continues to handle our footballing matters.

I'm not optimistic anymore.

Woodward still in charge. We've still got shit players on big contracts. We've got young players thinking they're better than they are, and demanding big money the don't deserve. Demands which will be met by an inept CEO and board who won't want to spend money rectifying their transfer mistakes because they are happy treading water, not winning trophies and just making a profit put of the club. We've got an inexperienced manager who will be overruled on key decisions by Woodward as well.

United is a shit show. We're going to get much worse.

Not much worse honestly. We might not be in Europe the following season but we are still too good to be relegated/fighting for EPL survival. Yeah. so at most, not in Europe then. Finishing 8th or 14th doesnt make any difference to us anyway.

Oles desire is to have a bunch of hardworking British lads that would run around more than the other team and chant united way in the changing rooms.

We’ll feel normal with mid table next season

We are 1,000-1 on Betway to get relegated. I'm not saying it will happen, but there is value there.

I'd definitely say there's more chance of us getting relegated than there was of Leicester winning the title...
