Is this the worst thread in Caf history?

 Christ we're bad by our standards, but we were still 6th in the Premier League. 5 points behind one of the Champions League finalists this season and people are asking if we'd win the Championship? :houllier:

More to do with the attributes needed to win it. First of all a squad of winners, then fitness, physical aspects in terms of battles , focus - desire - workrate and lastly the ability to break down countless teams prepared to shut up shop. Like Cardiff.

Hear me out before giving me a battering  this is a genuine discussion, not just a moan. We are obviously good enough to win it without fuss but, considering our current status, over 46 games and this squad, would we.

We absolutely clearly would have by a huge distance the best squad. Certain players would just dominate teams many weeks.

However.

1. We seem to have huge trouble with the types of teams that make up a lot of the division : teams that we would have to break down, or teams like Sheffield United who are well organised, not afraid to attack and are very good on the ball.

2. We have little to no appetite for physical battles. We visibly shrink and look absurdly lethargic when faced with any semblance of an 'up for it' side. I can smell the defeats at West brom, Derby and Swansea.

3. No matter what we do it probably takes anything between 94-100 points to win it. Do we have any sort of consistency in us? Even when we went on a great run it literally swung to the complete opposite extreme at the drop of a hat.

Other key points are that you can count on one hand the amount of teams we could be said to have dominated in recent years. We have lost or drawn with a various collection of the worst most demoralised sides I have seen in the Premier league. We also went out to Bristol, Derby and one of the worst Sunderland sides ever in the league cup. That excludes our weakened team getting annihilated by mk dons. Many of our players seemed to believe that even a top 4 battle was beneath them. Would they have the stomach for it.

Our record against the relegated and newly promoted teams in the last two seasons is 44 points from 72,or 44 from 24 games. (added to op)

Its said that its the most competitive league in England by many, or certainly that's the narrative they try to push. Would we win it, would we clock up 100 points over a season?
You need to leave the forum and I am not joking.

I won't, but thanks. For what it's worth I think arsenal for example, would have similar issues, maybe less so under emery but in last 2-3 years I wouldn't back them to get 100 points.

Sorry I'm busy writing a thread on whether Taylor Swift could win a karaoke down my local pub.
What would she be singing? And if big Dave does his Kenny Rogers then she might be in trouble

Only United fans can think that a team finishing sixth in PL wouldn't win the Championship.

This is genuinely one of the worst and most stupid threads in the history of the Caf.
This.

Not ”one of”, it is quite clearly the dumbest thread in caf history.

Next up, would this Real Madrid side win
The Segunda División

Are people going to ask the same about a team like Arsenal or Chelsea then? Because these teams are a whopping 4 and 6 points ahead of us and have shown such mental fortitude and fighting spirit over the season!! Only half joking, you could definitely have the exact same reservations about Chelsea and at that point you're asking whether the 3rd placed team in the Premier League would win the Championship.

Would we win the Championship ??

Highly unlikely.

To do that, you need hard working, tireless, 101% effort giving players over 46 games.

And that's hardly our lot this year, is it ??

The fact is that we would be favourites to win by a long shot.

We would almost certainly be in top 2 or 3 and probably win it.

However, if we were much better quality than most of the teams but there ended up being one or two teams that although we are quite a bit better quality wise, they are still quite a bit better than the rest, then if they ended up with 90+ points (Norwich 94 this season) and we slipped up a few times (teams treating playing us as their cup final), (as happens to Premier League Cups in the FA Cup) then it is perfectly feasible that we could end up second or third.

we will have a starting 11 of only academy players because all other players would have left if we were in championship! so we might be fighting for a play off spot!

Caf needs a cool down period these threads are getting out of hand

People forgetting Wolves are the nearest Championship side to us in terms of money and talent. Won the Championship with ease but still behind our shite side.
