Every time I've watched Real specially under Zidane it always felt like Bale was there to just complete first 11 while others played football, like a kid no one wanted but had to let play because mommy said so.

Offer him on loan with an option to buy at an agreed price. Rinse, repeat each season until he moves to another club or his contract runs out. You might have to pay 20% of his wages year 1 and increase it by 20% each year to make it attractive but you're recouping some money on a player the world knows is not wanted and he's not an issue in the dressing room.
Who are these teams that would be taking him on loan each year? The only teams that could afford him before Real need to pay the majority of wages, would be top teams. Which top teams would want to loan a 30-year old crock, when there are plenty of other targets out there?
I think there's a season in him, similar to that RVP season. IDK why but I wouldn't mind a 1 year loan if we can't get Sancho and co
When did you last watch him play?

It would be exactly the same sort of deal as Higuain at Chelsea. Very expensive player, that the club doesn't want and can't find an outright buyer for. It's the sort of deal we would be lucky to get for Sanchez, where we might him to Inter with Utd paying half his wages, just to get him away from the club.

I can definately see Real having to do this. The other options are to find a buyer willing to pay a transfer fee and his wages (unlikely), or keep him - which they don't want to do under Zidane.

I had a terrible dream last night in which Woodward unveiled Bale (over the hill) as the big signing for the season, followed by Kroos (almost past it), Rabiot (twat) and god help us Troy Deeney.

A loan wouldn't be that bad provided he took a massive pay cut.
Except it would given hes a crock
Fact is he doesn't want to play for United so we shouldn't have him here, have we not learnt our lesson yet

Please don't let us be interested. Let Madrid stay with their headache.

He's the last player we need. Constantly injured and way too much in wages.

Hope we stay as far away as possible, dont want him here at all.
We shouldnt be the suckers who help Madrid out with this massive problem of theirs,we have our own problem with Sanchez.
Hopefully Woodward has learned a hard lesson from that and wont do anything stupid here.

A loan for a season could be a shrewd move. He's far better than anyone we've been linked to as a right winger and would allow us to focus and filling other gaps then revisiting the position next summer.

As mentioned his injury record is poor. Real want rid reported on £600 k a week , bloody hell, on loan they want a club to pay half?

No chance, they wouldn't give Herrera a new contract like that so why give it to him? I'd have him on loan but not at that price for it?

No thanks. But United recent history in the transfer market suggests Woody will be all over this like a cheap suit.

It seems clear that Zidane does not want him and very few clubs in the world have the money to pay them and meet his wage demands.

Most likely scenario is that he will stay there because those very few clubs like PSG City and Barcelona would be put off by his injury history while having younger and fitter players.

Unfortunately, due to our current situation, he seems like the kind of marketing signing that Woodward would make to try to appeal to the fans.

I have seen papers claiming Tottenham would be interested but he would ask for Kane wages or more. It's either Real or United, from the outside looking in.

How longs left on his contract? He really needs to get thinking about his next club because no one is paying £600k a week when his deal runs out.

Would a 1 year loan with Madrid paying 80% of his wages hurt? He still looks pretty good when he plays for Wales.

I reckon a season can be squeezed out of him before Sancho the following year, one can hope.

He apparently isn’t interested in going to Spurs.

It's a big concern, but he has managed 42 appearances this season which isn't that bad and 39 the season before ...a lot better than Phil Jones has managed here, but I completely agree that we'd be absolutely mad to pay his full wages or buy him after the Sanchez debacle. A loan with reduced wages wouldn't be so bad and gives us a much better player than what we've got at the moment in attack.

The other clear and obvious thing is that he doesnt want to play for United. We should stay clear

I doubt many world class established players want to play for us sadly with the way we are at the moment. From the interviews he's given he seems a very driven guy in terms of his personal ambitions. He hasn't got a lot of time left and he's running out of options. I have no problem if he's self-centred and has no love for United ....just give us 25+ goals next year, a top 4 finish and then he can bugger off while we get someone better and carry on with our rebuild :D:wenger:

Again, must state that buying him though would be crazy, especially after the Sanchez mess. A loan is a safer option.

I hope he runs down his contract and gets some of that grateful Madrid treatment they are known for.

Ok so according to google he is on €15 million a year which works out at €288,461 per week. Say you take him from the 1st of July to the 31st of May that would be a total of 48 weeks so Bale would be due €13,846,128 in wages for that time. Under my scenario of 80% in season 1 then a club would need to pay him €11,076,902 for that time.

I don't think its ludicrous for clubs like like Inter or AC Milan to look at how Ronaldo has done in Italy and feel that 11 million isn't a huge outlay to bring a guy who only last season was instrumental in winning a Champions League for Madrid. Especially if you have other areas to focus on in rebuilding a short term investment might not be crazy.

If Solskjaer got his winger, central midfielder, defender and full back sorted and needed to replace Lukaku it might not even be the craziest thing for United to do (though I suspect we have been burnt badly on Sanchez and would hopefully focus on young players instead).

Good analysis. I suspect it would be structured slightly differently, so that the loan club pays a fee to Real Madrid and a proportion of the wages (Real conveying the rest). Same net result cost, but doesn’t disrupt the wage structure.

If you look at Lukuku, we would be lucky to get £50m for him, so would lose at least £25m on him in two years. So the scenario you outlined is sensible. It’s exactly what Juventus are having to do with Higuain as well.

He is on much more than 15 million a year (he is around that much after tax)

Around 600K per week before tax.
