City, Liverpool and Spurs will continue to grow rapidly, and sooner or later, City (and even Liverpool) will overtake us in brand value and revenues.

Number 1 in the Premier League in the only table the Glazers/Woodward actually care about.

Great work, medals all round.

This cannot be. I’ve been reliably informed by some posters here that we’re “the biggest club in the world” and that other than the sugar daddy clubs , no one else has any money or marketing flair.

I'm surprised actually. The hype around Real Madrid seems to have died down with them not being the galactico signing bastards they once were.

Then again we are shite.

Will Liverpool though? Their club is so scouse centric I don't know if it would appeal as much. They've also not won much in most people's lifetimes.

They won 3 champions league in a row. That’s hype.

City the fifth most valuable brand yet struggle to fill their stadium. Hmm, I wonder how that was achieved....

Yeah, one club has been winning champions leagues while the other can't even play football.

Is that 27% jump for Real year on year? Yes they won the CL last year but that was off the back of already winning 3 of the last 4 so I would've thought their stock was already pretty high this time last year. They must have been bloody miles behind 4 years ago if 27% annual jumps have only just put them in front.

Why will Liverpool overtake United? City sponsor themselves so that's another thing.

I swear every Irish pub in the world (and there's an Irish pub in every tiny corner of the globe) is a Liverpool pub. I've been a lot of strange places in the world and there's a damn Liverbird to be found in nearly every one of them.

Okay maybe that's a stretch, but they are definitely closing the gap. Liverpool are negotiating a lucrative deal with Nike, they are playing CL final for the second year in a row, and with Klopp as their manager they'll continue to challenge for EPL every year, which will further boost their brand (i.e. better sponsorship deals). They are also planning to expand Anfield (it's not happening anytime soon though).

But with regard to City, barring a "Saudi intervention" (no pun intended :wenger:) they will probably overtake us in the near future.

It was only a matter of time, I'm surprised we managed to be the number 1 brand despite being so shitty for so long.

We will hopefully manage to stop the rot and challenge again.

With regards City, no we won't. It would probably take another 10 years of you doing what you've done for 6 or the last 7 seasons which is very unlikely and us doing what we're currently doing (which is possible if Uefa don't get us first.)

That’s a pretty sober post from a City fan. It takes a LONG time to build a monster brand, and while it is a bit faster to tear it down that is still quite a long process.

Irish have a thing with scousers. I went to uni in Liverpool and there were so many Irish people there.

Was speaking to a couple of Irish United fans at a game a few months ago and they seemed to think the proportion of United:Liverpool was 60:40 in Ireland. Can any Irish caftards confirm or deny this?

I'd say it's 60:40-50:50

Ireland’s favourite Premier League team is Manchester United (170,000 Facebook followers), ahead of Liverpool (157,500 followers)

We weren't altogether surprised to learn that Ireland are mad on Liverpool with 25.67% of Irish Twitter users following the Reds while their old rival Manchester United take second spot with 23.20%.

I'm not mate, how's your membership going?
What you getting at? That scousers came from Ireland?
That if you look at a map it's pretty obvious why there would be many Irish people in Liverpool and not as many in, say, Bournemouth. Equally obvious why they would support Liverpool or United and not Arsenal.

Also, why go to Uni in Liverpool of all places? SM? :p

Is it my imagination, or does a story like this release ever year? I swear every year I read about Real Madrid overtaking us in some kind of brand related thing.

What does "brand value" mean? Is it supposed to be the total estimated sale value of a club?

Highly unlikely anyone will generate higher revenues (legitimately) than us in the PL. The only reason clubs get anywhere near us is due to the collective bargaining agreement sharing out the TV money. There will be a point where the penny drops with the Glazers & Woodward. We will demand a bigger share of the pie for ourselves or go it alone. The money we receive at the moment for broadcasting rights is a pittance compared to what we could generate showing our own games on a PPV basis.

When City's figure is recalculated to account for corruption, they will rank alongside Bolton...
