Is he really better than the likes of Luke Steele, Tom Heaton and Sam Johnstone? Oh and what about Joel Pereira?
He is at the same age, Tom Heaton is better currently but that's no shame.

The headline and the article don’t align.

I fully expect him to be on loan with Sheff Utd next season. He he proved himself, then he will have a chance at a top club (which may or may not include Utd).
Yeah the headline is bullshit, sky sports really are tier 5 trash these days

Keep De Gea unless we receive crazy offer. I can’t see De Gea wants to stay. Extend Deano contract, let him go on loan one more season to see he’s the real deal (from what I see he’s a talented keeper) and then we can start making decision whether he can be De Gea successor.

If we sell De Gea this summer, the we might just keep Deano in first team and let him compete with Romero.

Those handling can be improved if he plays in EPL because he has to improve them in order to survive in EPL.

We'll extend him and leave him at Sheff Utd next season (same with Tuanzebe at Villa, if they go up), no reason not to right now. Revisit in a year.

Well if he wanted to leave on a permanent why wouldn’t it make sense?
Sorry, have I missed him wanting to leave permanently?

He's in with a chance of being our number one in a season or two if he keeps his development up and we don't get De Gea tied down. It just makes no sense on either end to sell him.

On Tuesday? The reports were that we were probably looking to extend his loan at Sheffield United so he could get some PL experience in familiar surroundings having won promotion with them.

Just bring him back and promise him the EL and LC, he’d get around 20 matches. We shouldn’t lose him especially with DDG leaving.

The journalist who linked us with Collins has said he'll sign a new deal with us before going back to Sheffield Utd on loan, hope it's true. Probably means we'll let de Gea run his deal down.

Looks a top class keeper in the making. Hopefully we get the new deal wrapped up and get him out on loan.

Be honest, not watched a lot of him, and of course YouTube reels can be highly deceiving, but he very much reminds me of Schmeichel in some good stuff I have seen, especially seems to have a good command of his area and good throwing distribution, needs to work on his handling thought for sure.

With rumours of De Gea leaving, no new contract signed and Buffon leaving PSG, could this kid be our long term successor in a season or 2?

Love the confidence on the lad. Get an excellent GK coach and give the lad a chance.
He's got a fierce personality and the right attitude.

Looking over my shoulder.
Is he good enough should ddg leave? Him and Romero battling out for that 1st spot? I haven't seen enough of him, but I do like his attitude that has an arrogant edge to it, which I think good goalies often possess.

I think if DDG leaves we should give him the chance to shine.

Romero is pretty reliable and a good stand-in for cup games etc but Dean looks to have something else to him

Should give him another season at Sheffield and get valuable PL experience to truly see how good he can be. If things go to plan, he can take over from De Gea (maybe rotating with Romero a bit to ease him in).

Would go the other way, let Romero start the season and give him cup games. If he does well or Romero falters let him take over full time. Like his attitude.

Not sure the club will have the balls though to not sign a big name if De Gea does leave.

Yeah, but if ddg leaves this summer, should we buy an expensive replacement, or let Henderson and Romero be our goalies?

Dean Henderson is quality, I seen him play as a youngster for his local school a few times before he was scouted by Carlisle United and then brought into the Manchester United set-up. He has certainly progressed massively and the confidence on the lad is there to see, he truly has what it takes to make it at this club. I would let him and Sergio Romero battle it out for the number one spot, why waste time and money on finding a new Goalkeeper when we have two at the club that can play when required and why keep David DeGea when he doesn't want to be at the club and his contract is up next year? Overall though I do think Henderson has the ability and attitude to be the number one Goalkeeper at this club and also a natural leader in the dressing room as well.

The way I see it, he is better and further along at his young age than either of say the Notorious P.I.G or Ben Foster were when they were our backups. The consensus was that they could be trusted with the odd league game, as well as Cup and European duty.

Give him his chance I say.

Good to hear about his commitment. I remember being surprised when i heard gossip about him wanting to stay there permanently a month ago.

The dreaded modern question concerning goalkeepers; is he decent with his feet? Or at least better than DDG in this respect?

Will be a bold move by the club to not sign a replacement for DDG and let this guy and Romero battle it out for the number 1 spot.

From what I remember Foster had played a decent amount of PL matches by the time he was our backup, and was highly rated.

He was a later developer at Stoke and came in with little fan fare. Granted he looked good in his season on loan at Watford but judging on Henderson's season, I would say they are at a similar level. Henderson also has a few years on him at these respective points in their careers.

Foster wasnt mentality wise on top to make it at a top club.
Agreed, but that only really became apparent after he started with us a few times.
