Arsenal: how will you cope if Spurs actually win big ears?

I can't remember a time when it was Spurs > Arsenal in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps the early 80's, but even that's tenuous. If, however, Spurs do go and do the unthinkable, allied to their current squad and finished above Arsenal, thus making Totteringham Day null and void, it would surely usher in a new era where the mocked become the triumphant, no?

Spurs winning the CL before Arsenal was quite incomprehensible even as recently as a couple of seasons ago... surely the chance of this happening is sending waves through the Gooner support?

Spurs have been a better team than arsenal for about 5 or so years now. They just lacked the mentality to get the job done.

I wonder how the rest of London views it. I gather that Chelsea want to stay as the only London club to have won a Champions League, whilst I can't imagine West Ham would be too fond of having their 1966 World Cup overshadowed.

While I'm sure it will send ripples through that rivalry, arsenal are thirteen time League champions.

Hard to feel sorry for Arse. They had their multiple chances in 1998-2006. And they reached the UCL final two seasons too late.

Oporto vs Arsenal 2004, that would have been their title, I'm sure of it. But no, they blew it against a pre-Mourinho Chelsea.

I think Spurs is going to knock Arsenal off their perch in next decade if Spurs win UCL and win a couple of PL title. We've done the same thing to Liverpool in the 90s when we were 11 league title behind Liverpool then we have gotten more dominant in 2000s with our revenue, success, and fanbase.

Arsenal have not been on any sort of perch for a long time. If Spurs win the Champs league it'll be like kicking someone when they're already down.

Funny thing is that Liverpool are favorites and most likely will thrash the Spuds, making this 2019 final an exotic anomaly (Liverpool in the final after the 4-0 vs Barça and Spuds of all people after two miracles in the QFs and semis).

Arse will feel the relief this 1st of June that we felt when City didn't feck up vs Brighton.

Yeah would love to stay as the only london side but the alternative is henderson lifting the trophy whilst theyve already got 5 in the bag its still scousers and everyone saw the nauseating habits in the title charge so, no win situation really more of a case of ignore the winner laugh at the loser.

Depends what you define as a 'perch'. A couple of titles still doesn't put them close to Arsenal's 13, and emulating what United did in today's game is fantasy stuff.

Great idea. I remember that song they kept singing at Chelsea fans back when the Champions League rivalry was hot - something about "you ain't got no 'istory." Even if it is Spurs, can't wish them well.

Even if Spurs get a few league titles, having more CL's doesnt make them bigger than Arsenal surely?

Still Imagine it would sting mind.

All the shit Spurs have taken from the Gooners lot over the years, IMAGINE if they won the Champions League when Arsenal havent. I dont think my sides would be able to handle the laughter watching the Arse TV lot. How much money would Robbie make that weekend? He's sort of got to be half hoping Spurs win it.

Perch doesn't mean Spurs will become bigger than Arsenal by trophies but If Spurs become better than Arsenal in the next decade and winning major trophies like UCL or PL with Arsenal not coming closer to the title, they'll blow Arsenal off pitches. We have been better than Liverpool in the 90s, then we managed to outperform Liverpool off pitches on commercial and other stuff in the 2000s as everyone believed we knocked them off their perch despite Liverpool having more trophies.

The club I least like in English football is Liverpool but the thought of Spurs lifting that trophy is enough to make me vomit. Liverpool winning it again won't be as bad as them winning the league anyway. They've done it before so no big deal.

I've arranged to be in Liverpool for the game and I'll be cheering them on. If they win it'll be a massive party and a bit of a laugh. They lose then there will be crying scousers everywhere. I'm making a win/win out of a bad situation.

Ripples? Do you know what St. Totteringham's Day is? Ripples?

It's really terrible both ways. The leagues importance to them is obvious given it's been thirty years since they last won it, but for the most part they haven't threatened to win it in that time. This year too close for comfort.
.It's really irritating though that United have not really looked like getting close to their European Cup haul, and now they're in another final. They'll join Milan on 6 wins if they defeat Spurs. Bastards.

Arsenal hugely underachieved in the CL under Wenger.

Particularly from 1998 to 2006, they should have won it at some point in that period. 2004 the most obvious example

as neutral: nottinham forest and aston villa have won the european cup in their history, never on the same level as arsenal…. arsenal is the biggest and most noble club from london for sure.

If they win it, they win it. I actually give them a slight edge over Liverpool. We've blown it by keeping Wenger far too long, a totally incompetent manager on the European stage. We also have an owner who'll just shrug his shoulders if Tottenham get the European cup, I'd be surprised if he even knew about the rivalry. He just doesn't give a damn so I can't be totally surprised if Tottenham win it before us. That still wouldn't make them a bigger club though.

I don't know what you're talking about. There is no CL final this year.

It'd be hilarious for two major reasons - obviously stopping Liverpool, which would be pure gold.
And two, arses like DT suffering a massive meltdown over it!

Exactly, a few years above Arsenal even with this cup, doesn't outrank the 20 years or so before, league titles and FA cup wins.

Any Arsenal fan coming back from Baku will probably u turn and stay there for a few months.

Arsenal were in CL for years and years and were a joke last 5-6 season in the knock out rounds so yes they were never hear the end of it.

Milan have 7 titles. But they'll overtake both Bayern and Barcelona if they beat Spurs

At the time you would have thought so but in hindsight i imagine Jose would have found a way to beat them, for the same reason the Monaco defeat pain eased for us because it became very clear within a few months of Mou at Chelsea that there's absolutely no way Ranieri would have outfoxed him in the final.
