Really against the AWB signing, all he seems to do is go to ground with slide tackles. Ethan Laird in our academy will be twice the player if we give him a chance.

DDG
AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
Neves - Rice - Pogba
Pepe - Dembele/Dybala - Rashford

Sounds like we have enquired about Dybala and he would be first choice but the fall back option for CF seems to be Dembele for 45m, which I am not overly for but we don't seem to be linked with many other strikers.

If not Pepe then hopefully Brooks from Bournemouth.

Only heard good things about Laird. Hopefully he's capable of the step up. Always a good feeling when an academy player turns world class.

Anyways, we could be after Meunier. Would you have him over AWB instead?

Ideally we sign all these players:
Dybala, Fernandes, Rice, AWB, Koulibaly, Lozano, James
Dybala false 9, Rashford down left with James backup there or also on right with Lozano. Fernandes and Rice controlling the midfield with Pogba and AWB / Koulibaly strengthening our defence.
But that's pretty much not going to happen and almost impossible.

So I agree with this now:

Romero
Young - Smalling - Jones - Shaw
Longstaff - Rice - McTominay
Lingard - Rashford - James

I'm personally of the opinion that we should have a lot of our squad players be youth players. We need to sign 4-5 players, but get rid of 8 or so this summer, and replace the rest with youth.

Gk: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Henderson (loan)

Rb: Meunier, Dalot, Laird
Lb: Shaw, Young
Cb: Koulibaly, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Smalling, Jones

DM: Gueye, Fred, Garner
CM: Tielemans, McTominay
AM: Fernandes, Jesse Lingard, Angel Gomes

RW: Nicholas Pepe, Tahith Chong
ST: Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood
LW: Anthony Martial, Daniel James

Incomings:
  • Nicholas Pepe - £60m
  • Daniel James - £15m
  • Bruno Fernandes - £50m
  • Youri Tielemans - £40m
  • Thomas Meunier - £20m
  • Koulibaly - £80m
  • Idriss Gueye - £35m
Total: £300m

Outgoing:
  • Lukaku - £60m
  • Sanchez - (£10m) (yes we pay to offload)
  • Mata - £0m
  • Herrera - £0m
  • Pogba - £120m
  • Matic - £10m
  • Marcos Rojo - £5m
  • Matteo Darmian - £5m
  • Antonio Valencia - £0m
  • Lee Grant - £0m
  • Eric Bailly - £20m
Total: £210m

7 in and 12 out isnt realistic at all but I can honestly see all of these leaving in which case we do need to buy players. If I had to guess, Matic and Rojo would stay, we won't sign Gueye, maybe replace Tielemans with Rabiot in terms of what looks more likely. Probably also Lukaku because our attack would be very light in depth. I would be perfectly happy with the above summer though. Maybe a bit light in proven attackers, but potentially devastating if they click (though a whole new midfield is really difficult to bed in).

Totally get what you're saying regarding the youth given the deadwood's place in the squad totally agree with you mate, I would go the following this summer:

DDG, Romero, Grant
Wan Biasska, Dalot, TFM
Shaw, Young,
Maguire, Tuanzebe
Lindelof, Smalling, Jones
Rice, Matic, Garner
Pogba, Gomes, Pereira
Neves, McTominay, Fred
Pepe, Chong, Lingard
Dybala, Greenwood
Rashford, Martial, James

In
AWB 40M
Maguire 60M (would love Koulibaly or De Ligt but just can't see them wanting to come to us)
Rice 40M
Neves 50M
Pepe 60M
Dybala 80M (dream signing to lead the line, heard the fall back option is Dembele for 45M)

340M if we get all of them (which I very much doubt)

Outs
Rojo 10M
Darmian 10M
Sanchez -10M
Mata
Herrera
Lukaku 60M
Bailly 25M

95M bringing the summer net spend to 245M which seems about right.

Dembele for Dybala and Brooks for Pepe cheaper options if needs be but lets hope we can get one or two big name attackers in with the core/spine being Premier League based signings.

My dream team (semi-realistic):
DDG
Semedo Kouliballiy Alderweireld. Shaw

Herrera/Allan. B.Fernandes. Pogba

Zieych/Sancho. Rashford/Vardy James

Won't get them all, but this team would be a joy to watch!

Subs: Lindelof, Romero, Lingard, Martial, Greenwood, Fred

I'm not going to do a half-arsed guessing attempt, but rather a somewhat optimistic-realistic guess at what our team could look like based on the more concrete rumours and how much it would cost.

IN:
Kalidou Koulibaly (£63.00m) / Harry Maguire (£40.50m)
Thomas Meunier (£31.50m) / Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£22.50m)
João Félix (£31.50m) / Bruno Fernandes (£31.50m)
Jadon Sancho (£72.00m)
Daniel James (£2.70m)

OUT:
Eric Bailly (£27.00m)
Antonio Valencia (£6.30m)
Matteo Darmian (£9.00m)
Nemanja Matic (£31.50m)
Ander Herrera (Free)
Juan Mata (£22.50m)
Alexis Sánchez (Free)

LOAN: Andreas Pereira

5 IN - 7 OUT - 1 LOAN
Player values taken from transfermarkt.co.uk (DISCLAIMER: I know a lot of these values do not reflect what the players will cost in the transfer window, but I wanted to have some objective source).

Net spend evaluation: Considering the values above, plus a little of my own judgement, I believe we could get about 80.00m by clearing the deadwood. How much the ins would cost is the big question mark.
Koulibaly and Maguire would cost about £70.00m I think. That's close to what Liverpool paid for VVD so that is my reference.
Meunier should be bought for about what he's evaluated so let's put £35.00m there
Daniel James is rumoured to come for £15.00m.
That leaves us with the real bank breakers in Felix and Sancho, whom I believe would cost about £80.00m and £100.0m respectively.
That leaves us with approximately £300.0m to spend. Subtracting the £80.0m in fees received we would be left with a £220.0m net spend, something completely achievable for a club in our situation, with our financial means, that only bought Fred and Dalot in one whole year.
I think that the main roadblock in my projected team would be getting Jadon Sancho. That could take even more money considering we don't have UCL next season, that if he'd want to come at all. But like I said, this is an optimistic approach and all the pessimist lineups so far make me sick in the stomach.

TLDR; For about a £220.0m net spend, we could buy Koulibaly, Meunier, Félix, James and Sancho, and get rid of seven players, plus one loan. Bringing Jadon Sancho is the biggest challenge.

I don't understand the caf's obsession with this player. IIRC he hasn't even played a single U23 game yet. No chance he's even remotely close to being ready.

You called James in your OP back at the start of April. We've since been linked to the player stronger than any other target and he's not in your starting XI anymore

Yet again, I need to get in on this:
GKs: DDG (Romero)
Side backs: Shaw, Chilwell, Dalot, Wan Bissaka, Hakimi.
Central: Lindelöf, De Ligt, Maguire.
Midtfield: Rice, McTominay, Saul Ñíguez, Berge, Garner.
Attackers: Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Jovic/Haaland, Sancho, Son.

The rest is academy fill. (This team is obviously super realistic next season, you can bet CASH on it!)

Only heard good things about Laird. Hopefully he's capable of the step up. Always a good feeling when an academy player turns world class.

Anyways, we could be after Meunier. Would you have him over AWB instead?
Id take Meunier to bridge that gap until laird is ready definitely, yeah.

So what, how many u23s games did Rashford play? That James Wilson has played about 150 u23s games, doesnt mean he's any good..

Laird looks to have world class potential, hence the reason for optimism. I just don't see AWB as an essential signing based on what I've seen at all.

Is it not worrying that we haven't been linked with a top class finisher? Obviously a position that needs sorting

I'm not saying this is ideal but I have a feeling that Ole will start with Matic next season although I would prefer if we signed someone like Ndidi.

These type of threads are the biggest waste of time in my opinion. Over thinking, guessing, no real concrete behind etc, hopeful, reminds me of most of my friends and myself with Game Of Thrones, speculating, whats the point?

No way should we even think about those two. Vardy 32 years old and Bale 30 next month. It would be madness!

Not what I want but what I think we will get.
Not being pessimistic just realistic, based on who we have in charge in the boardroom.

This thread is a joke.

How fans think we will actually sign more than 4 players is a joke, or signings that will be world class?

We have been at this stage for 6 years with Thiago, Kroos, Fabregas, Mane. Manutd is no longer a club where players want to come and play football. Pogba was signed because he might have wanted to prove something, but other than him when was the last time we signed a player in his prime or just about entering his prime? and being in the top class bracket?

DDG
Young - Lindelöf - Maguire - Shaw
Fred - Matic - Fernandes
James - Rashford - Martial
This is probably the closest thing to a "prediction" without Fernandez.

The thread is predict the line up not post a fantasy line up.
