I don't really hang around the reddit too much so not sure on his reliability but from what I can gather he does have a source at the club.

I still think Romero could be decent for a year, he's never done poorly when he has been called on. We have lots of positions to fill, a top keeper will eat a lot of our budget.
Bound to happen. And if we are able to get a replacement (Not Cillessen) that can perform up to the standards required... Then this should not be the biggest problem.

I don’t want an upgrade.
I want a fecking Rolls Royce. If I’m paying out Rolls money then I don’t want an upgrade.

Saying that we won’t get who we really want because the players us fans want unfortunately want CL and there is a slight problem with that.
What are you even talking about.

I don’t want Utd to waste money on mediocre players that won’t be much of an improvement on what we have. ie an upgrade.

The fact is we won’t be able to get the top quality because we are not in the CL. Utd have pissed more money up the wall then any other club recently. Look at City. Their transfer record signing is that chap from Leicester Marhreze for £60 million no where near what ours is. Their wage bill is a lot less as well.

So when I say I don’t want an upgrade I mean just that, I want top quality but we are no longer a club in a position to attract the very best.

Ffs do you want me to draw you a picture?

So you want better players but not upgrades. Those are your words :houllier:

That itk guy on Reddit has said that Sancho has decided to stay at Dortmund for another year and we are keeping tabs on De Ligt situation, but it'll take a massive Barca feck up for us to get seriously involved.

Last week it was reported that there were United scouts at the Rayados stadium. Apparently, the targets are Carlos Rodriguez and Rodolfo Pizarro, both midfielders of Rayados, with Pizarro being a natural 10. There are some pics of the supposed scouts on the stadium but who knows if they really are scouts or if it's just the Mexican press making noise.

The media seems to have even less of a clue than normal this summer. Usually by this time we have 1-2 names who won't go away, where you feel like there's too much smoke for there not to be some kind of fire. Now it's just a new name everyday.

If the prices being quoted for some of the players we're in for are true, then we're far better off just going for young, homegrown talent.

If Felix is going to cost over £100m, and Napoli are rejecting over that for Koulibaly then clubs need to try and drive down the market by simply refusing to pay up.

Yes. It’s akin to your old ford Escort GL, you know you want better so you upgrade to an Escort Ghia, but at at the end of the day it’s still a Ford when you really should have gone to the BMW dealer.
If we are going to replace then replace with a class above, not a Jones look a like.

Saying we've had a bid accepted for De Ligt and are close to the finish line.

I very much doubt we are buying a CB.
Tuanzebe is coming back and we are not getting rid of Jones/Smalling/Baiily and Rojo if we are to believe the latest.

Its Midfield we will be looking to strengthen for obvious reasons.
I am certain we are buying a cb. It’s obvious the club has gone balls deep for De Ligt.

I’m more concerned about our lack of movement on the so called director of football that would play a role in getting the transfers completed, Ed Woodward has to go, he’s got no clue and is clearly very slow at getting the deals done.

Agree, signing this guy would show the rest that we are determined to build a very good, hopefully a great, team. We can still get a sale for Rojo, Smalling, Jones or Baillie once we have signed a CB.

A question to betting experts: do bets related to potential transfers make sense?
According to bets I saw, we seem to be closest to signing Gareth bale and AWB.

Not really. There isn't a lot of liquidity in those markets so small-ish bets can move lines. A lot of those bets also don't even offer the option of the player staying at his current club.

You are 100% correct but he will not be going as he is the Glazers guy. He is our DOF right now and it can be seen on the pitch. It will become even more obvious during this transfer window after he fecks it up as he has done with every window he has been involved with.

Not even appointed a Technical Director yet. That should have been done soon after Ole got the job. What are they waiting for?

I remember last summer was brutal. Promised so much and we ended up with Fred, Dalot n Grant which was a shocking window for us.

I have a bad feeling this one could be even worse. Players might be actually thinking twice about signing for us given the state of our club.

The more days that pass by without us making a signing or close to signing anyone makes me worried.

Surely after such a dreadful season we would be looking at tying up deals and giving the fans something to be happy about and some optimism for the coming season.

Yeah, the Daniel James deal may be done (if reports to be believed) but there’s other massive areas that need improving. Are we getting given the runaround by players we’re linked with (De Ligt, AWB, Meunier etc) again like we were with Ramos, Godin, Fabregas and the like?

They are definitely thinking twice about signing for us. Our best players want to leave, no CL, no likelihood of big trophies within the next 3 seasons, the club is more interested in the financial side than what happens on the pitch, inexperienced manager, few players perform or develop at the club....

I think our transfer strategy went to pot when we missed out on champions league football. Now potentially a vicious cycle. In life things have a way of working out I believe but we are going to have to be incredibly patient (may take a decade or longer). I don't even think we've seen the worst yet sadly. I think our summer will be underwhelming but this may prove a blessing as we will be forced to promote out own youth.

The question is can we enjoy the journey?:devil:

How many players have Madrid signed already? Seeing as they need just about as much of a rebuild as we do, it's clear who the better run football club is. Getting their targets in as early as possible, whilst we aren't even able to get some average guys from the Championship over the line.

Madrid 3 over line with 1 more very close (Mendy) and Hazard basically admitting he's going there.

Bayern have signed 3 players. L. Hernandez, Pavard and some guy called Arp.

Meanwhile at the club who can do anything in the market..........<tumbleweed>

So that's two top clubs that made significant investment so far? Are you similarly worried about L'pool, Tottenham, Chelsea?

About the second sentence, we already proved we can do some dumb shit in the market but definitely nothing others dream about

Thing ive never understood, if I go shopping at Tesco, whilst I know it opens at 8am, I can decided what I want and how much its gonna cost me before it opens? In principle, utd could have entered into discussions with clubs and players before it opened and then sign them the day it opens officially. Am I being too simplistic. Germans seem to manage it...

They don't need a huge rebuild though.

How many ‘threads of doom’ does the caf need?

Whilst there are clearly serious issues at the club it’s becoming dull and tedious listening to the same folks whining about the same sh1t under differing guises.

We have turned in a laughing stock now when it comes to transfers.
We sell cheap and have to pay well over the odds for players.

Other clubs are laughing at us. This summer is the last chance for Woodward to redeem himself and make up for the terrible transfer sagas the last couple of years.

Time to panic? This time last year when people came out with similar “premature” statements, they were laughed at. The panic however was justified. Once again it seems we have no plan and no solid transfer strategy in place. I remember ole saying he wanted his new signings finalised early, in order to get a solid pre season in. Not looking likely is it?
