One thing I must admit is it seems our scouting system has improved dramatically. Doumbia was a great pick up and is talented. Matheus Nunes is a big talent, Borja is a good squad player, and Luiz Phellype has been scoring goals and making an impact.

Now I see we are really interested in Moussa Djenepo and though I only know him because of FIFA if you watch his videos he is rapid and has great technical ability which allows him to beat 2 to 3 players similar to how Gelson would except it also seems he has decent finishing as well and he is still only 20.

These are the types of moves the club has to make find gems in lesser leagues and bring them over while we can afford them. I hope the deal for Moussa goes through.
Probably related with Varandas recruiting Jose Chieira for our scouting. But Luis Phellype nothing to do with him.

I just hope we get our business done quick very quickly. Before other teams start to interfere.

Anticipation is Sporting best friend in the transfer market, since you guys are not swimming in money.

But worry not: Sporting has enough reputation to attract players if the transfer market is well run. You might end up with some raw talent that still needs a bit of work, but even if you pay 10M5 for a u19 from South America you get the same raw talent "problem".

I know the Belenenses keeper was sent off, Muriel (Alisson brother), I know we are playing better, I know Bruno Fernandes is having the season of his life, but the league is getting horribly unbalanced this days, 1:8 on a neutral stadium shouldn’t be normal.

We usually make jokes about the Eredivisie but if we look at the amount of goals scored between the top teams I don’t see much difference this days, and I don’t think that’s good.

We should reduce the number of teams, review the sharing of TV revenues, do something to improve the overall quality. Anyway we’re still 7th on UEFA rankings and unless the Belgian teams improve massively in Europe we probably will keep that place.

By the way I like this dynamic with the 3 defenders and each game it passes under Keizer the more I am certain JJ was only a expensive fraude created by the media. Big mistake by BDC.

Impossible to keep BF, I just hope with Chieira now at the scouting department we improve our recruitment. That and at least try to call back Bragança and Matheus Pereira, I don’t like to watch so few youth or Portuguese players on our 11, but it will take a few years to recover on that area.

I hope this puts to bed the anti Keizer narrative on Sporting forum where on the prospects to replace him they had names like Silas there.

@SCP Benfica was against sharing TV revenue equaly. No need to explain way. Our football fits our culture, or lack of it.

I agree with everything the league needs to make changes to see more improvements.

As for the team Matheus needs to be in the team and in the case Bruno leave Matheus Nunes needs a chance as well. Bring back some loaned out players promote 2 youth players and then see if our new scouting department can keep doing what they have been. Doumbia was a great fine as was phellype who is on the form of his life.

As for Keizer I am still not 100% convinced BUT (especially if he wins the Taça de Portugal) he has done enough to at least warrant a summer transfer window to pick out the players he wants and build the team how he wants too along with allowing his team to fully grasp his ideas and playing style in the summer. I think this will be a big summer for Sporting with potentially a lot of millions coming our way and it is important to know how to best invest that so that we build a young competitive team. Bruno Fernandes, Bas Dost, Coates, Acuna, and probably Mathieu will all leave so that is a lot of money to be gotten and a lot of positions to fill.

@broccoli Yeah I know that.
@SportingCP96 Keizer will stay even if he loses the Cup.

Anyway,no sane club in Europe sacks a coach if he loses a Cup Final. But I agree it’s a challenge he has on his hands because I suspect beside BF, don’t know how many more players will stay, hopefully we can hire a good bunch of prospects and yes Keizer will have a preseason to implement his ideas. Anyway we won’t have the best squad next season but at least we should try to reduce the gap and play better football.

João Félix going to the Nations League then. If Rafa and Pizzi go I'll support England.

Peixe

Leaves the 2 best players who won the Youth League in the bench because we lost the first game.

Anyway I lost my hope regarding the current crop of coaches working in the Federation.

From the top to the under 15’s. Ok Helio is the least bad working there, I guess Fernando Gomes football knowledge to hire someone is based on being a former player, terrible alternative cheap versions to Queirós, or former Porto employees who happened to work there 20 years ago.

Portugal in a nutshell.

Penalty for Rio Ave not given and Benfica score on the counter... 2 goal swing with VAR. There's nothing to do but laugh... the shadiest title I've ever seen a team win, can't believe they got help again after what happened in Braga.

Not that it's undeserved because Porto and Benfica sharing the last 2 league titles would be fair but it makes it impossible to watch.

Not even we have the chance to play the playoff for the next under 17 WC.

Honestly the generation wasn’t the best ever but it would help having someone who knows what he is doing and what’s the best 11.

Incredible how mediocrity is rewarded at the FPF, no matter the results and performances, your job is always safe.

Ffs.

Vietto signs for Sporting. Very good signing IMHO. He will do wonders on Primeira Liga.

I like the potential in the signing but I hate how it happened.

22M for Gelson than 7.5M for ONLY 50% of his rights. So in other words we only got 15M for Gelson and even if Vietto lights the league up in order to get any financial compensation from him we will have to pay another 7.5M for the rest of his rights soooooo in other words we will pay 15M! for a guy who scored 1 goal in 20 games last season and 19 goals in 4 seasons. Safe to say Godinho Lopes reincarnated?

I know this is not Vietto fault and I think the player we saw at Villarreal is still in there but at the same time in a 4-3-3 I don't know how well he would do as a loan striker. He would of been perfect in JJ formation with 4-2-2.

I do think Vietto will do very well as a support striker, as I think Keizer is planning to use him. His workrate won't be an issue, since he is quite a disciplined player on the pitch. He's not a creative force but in a grand scheme he can be a vital player.

About the deal: Atletico is very aggressive on the transfer market and they never sold a player without that clause. Porto had to pay 20M to get Oliver Torres at 100%
We had to pay a total 15M to get Salvio at 100%. Unfortunatelly as Atletico is one of the few clubs who don't mind take risks on the underdogs market, we have to bare with them.

Sporting-Porto was really the last round, surprised a big fixture like that concluded the season.

Another dirty league win. The football is a sewer like the politics in this country. Don't like the super dragões but their banner today was spot on. Will António Costa and the referees get winners medals as well?

We suck thats what. 2 goals conceded the same way. Granted all game playing with 10 men but still. Don't know why he started so many of the starters in a pointless game.

The whole league is dirty. The only league more corrupt than ours is the greek league.

That's because even the fixtures are fixed to favour Benfica.

Jesus Bruno Gaspar was a terrible signing. He looked half decent 2 or 3 years ago, but now...

Anyway not a great perspective next week to start with him and I hope Acuna on the left, because I don’t want to imagine Jefferson there.

If Jefferson starts we basically are starting with 10 men and 1-0 down.

Today was a great day. A great party day. All the people together enjoying a great day...

Where Nuno Pinto returned to the field for another 6 minutes after a hard cancer battle. This is football

Indeed. Both Cédric and Semedo are not even starters at Inter and Barça.
He called Cancelo and Semedo but I agree. It’s terrible that a player who makes a great season at Porto and then on his first season on the hardest league in the world atm doesn’t have a chance and instead a bench player from Barcelona goes in his place.

Nothing against Semedo because Barcelona is Barcelona, but I have some doubts he would perform at the same level as Ricardo for Leicester.

Anyway nothing surprising regarding Santos. He lost a league with Porto having players like Jardel, Drulovic, Capucho or Deco.

I hope he retires, hopefully we can qualify to the next euros.

Of course he might be replaced by someone with even worse ideas though.

Strangely enough, Porto did very well in Europe that season and only got eliminated by "portuguese league typical behaviour".
Porto was in advantadge by away goals vs Bayern Munich and the game was going well for Porto. The ref called a dubious foul, and Porto players went to sorround the ref and whine about the decision. Bayern took adavantadge of this by taking the free kick very quickly and suddenly they got a 4 vs 2 situation and scored

But I feel your pain. The available managers for NT are not famous.
