I'd have him here. Comfortable in possession and moves the ball well. He'll take time to adjust to the league but I think he'll be very good in a year or two.

Not the kind of player we need right now and won't improve our squad by a large amount. He can definitely work at Liverpool where he can be a valuable squad member like Shaqiri and play across the front 3 and maybe get a starting role as a CAM in the role Coutinho was given (though that will effect their defensive solidity).

The only way I can envision us buying him would be if we sell Pogba because him and Pogba in the same XI would be a disaster defensively. If we do sell Pogba, which I think we should, then playing Brandt would require a complete reworking of our midfield 3. You can play Brandt but you would need two defensive solid midfielders behind him (one of whom would have to be a playmaker) to give Brandt the freedom to roam in the final third.

Could he not play in our front three as he would only have to produce better than Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Rashford, Martial and Lukaku. That's surely easier than getting into Liverpool's front three.

I see it similarly, he'd be a 1:1 Pogba replacement, although Brandt is of course younger and still has plenty of room to grow into his new CM role. But to write him off on the left wing when his sole competition would be Martial and Sanchez is rubbish.

He's stagnated playing on the left wing though and I think it would be a waste to play him primarily in that role. I remember when he first joined Leverkusen from Wolfsburg he was known to play as a CAM but the coaches started playing him as a left winger where he didn't really develop as well as he could have. Now, playing centrally, he is having the best time of his career getting consistent goals and assists.

Making him go back to the left wing would be a waste of not only his potential to develop into a world class player but also his current ability. If you want him to play on the left, you would have to give him a Hazard type role where he can freely roam into the middle and become a playmaker.

We're in complete dire straits at this club with bang average players in every position, yet people on this forum want to turn down the likes of Brandt and Werner like we have an embarrassment of riches on the field.

If you wanna turn down this kind of talent at 25 million Euro's, especially considering todays market, I genuinely don't know where your head is at, back in the glory days of the 90s when we could attract everyone and prices were a snip in comparison I bet.

I completely agree with you.

Heck, I bet that Klopp would personally go to Leverkusen just to get that kid for that kind of money and he would play him as a CAM with Henderson and Fabinho behind him.

In ideal situation, if Pogba wasn't that stubborn and if he had a proper defensive work rate, we would play Pogba on 8, Brandt on 10 and someone like Ndidi to watch their back.

Rumors in Germany that Bayern lost interest in him and he´s in negotiations with BVB. Read about it on Schwatzgelb, people there with mixed feelings concerning Brandt´s workrate and attitude. But often mentioned: the pricetag is worth a shot.

Brandt and T. Hazard for a combined fee of £50m would be great business by Dortmund.

Just out of curiosity, have there been many German players who have played well in the PL?
Not many since not a whole lot have played there as far as I know. Ballack was decent for Chelsea right? And Özil has had pretty strong spells at Arsenal.

Edit: Sané, Huth, Hamann, Mertesacker, Can, Lehmann, Hitzlsperger, maybe Gündogan and Podolski

Sane, Ozil, Gundogan, Podolski just to name a few of recent times.

I think with the price quoted it is a no brainer as his talent is clear to see and he can operate in a number of roles and positions. He has done well in a deeper role this season at Leverkusen along with Havertz. If the rumoured price is genuine whoever manages to sign him (looking like BVB) will get a bargain!

We got good mileage out of our batch.

Riedle, Didi Hamann, Ziege, Babbel, Can. Sean Dundee.

He is a bargain for 25m. The way he plays now centrally at Leverkusen, he is on fire. He would be perfect for City and Liverpool.

Dortmund want him. He said he will say something about his future at the end of the season. If Leverkusen play CL next season, he might stay another year and leave the following season, his contract would also be almost up. I am pretty sure he will leave if they dont end up in the CL, i think he wants CL football badly, which would also increase his chances for the NT starting spot.

Want him as an 8 and depth for LW with mane given the amount of players we’ll have away over the summer it’s a no brainer.

He is so good currently. Think his future will be resolved soon for next season. Leverkusen reaching the CL, he might stay for another year.

If he decides not to buy a player based on nationality, that's plain dumb.
I can understand being wary about Argies, but Germans? Can't work out what wrong could that be, unless we're looking at some has beens.

Would you not argue it's Ballack the most successful? I mean, he actually won trophies!
Trophy wise certainty but he wasn't the same Ballack that I saw dominating for Germany,Leverkusen and especially Bayern. Though, funnily enough,he did turn it on against us in the majority of our meetings.

I can Leverkusen selling just one of Brandt or Havertz this summer. I think Klopp will go for Brandt because he wanted to sign him.last summer.

Where does he predominantly play? Only really seen him when he came on for that abysmal German team in the World Cup, and I think he was on the left?
