Is he still any good? Wouldn't mind him if he was to be honest.

You know the second we signed him ALL the paper would have his recent quotes on the back pages.

Woodward signing in a nutshell. Big name, slightly passed his best. Bale to follow.

A comment he made when he was 24 shouldn't be used as a yardstick to judge him for all his life. Everyone makes mistakes. I used to have certain opinions about certain subjects because that's all I heard from my parents growing up but they changed as I got older.

I like Rakitic. Intelligent player but is showing signs of slowing down. Coming to the PL, showing signs of slowing down in La Liga would make it super tough to make it here. Especially when we are going through a rebuild and require players to carry their weight or maybe more.

Edit: however, if he is who Ole wants, sign him up! Back the manager!

Edit 2: I’d like to add that if we are going to go through a successful rebuild project, we will have to buy some older players who can help provide experience and leadership. They have to be able to adapt quickly to help make us somewhat competitive while the younger players grow and develop. This was always my argument in support of Jose’s asks for his list of seasoned players with certain profiles.

No. He is 31 and I feel that other midfielder beside Pogba has to have a better engine. Like Barella.

And don't fund Barcelona for De Ligt. Also, bid for De Ligt while we at it.

Jose praised him very highly on beIN Sports.

Perhaps a player that Jose had on his list and Ed is actioning it now?

A signing that would make sense if we were fighting for the title next year.

We're not. Accept that a rebuild is gonna take 2 or 3 years. Sign some players that will improve and have a resale value.

Get de Ligt signed first. Don't give these a penny.

31 is quite old and I doubt he can be much good at 32/33 so we'll need to replace next year and have another old player on big wages and no resale value. I suspect Barca and La Liga have also lengthened his career and will hit a brick wall here.

Nobody cares about what he said. Alarms are raised because we have had this signing two times before and both times it didn't work out. He is on the decline.

He was injured constantly during his last years at Bayern. I seem to remember Pep questioning the signing.
Yeah, calling him Schweinsteiger (who I adore) was a bit harsh. It wasn’t meant in terms of injuries, but in terms of career trajectory.

Not really who I’d want to see headline the “rebuild”

Too old. No, really, as much as I would love a Croatian finally to put United shirt there's no really any purpose in signing him. Although he's a very good player.

It's so easy to get drawn into these transfer sagas isn't it? I really doubt we'd pay £30m but he'd be a good signing for a low fee.

Thinking back a few months, someone said we'd be replacing Herrera with someone a lot better. Maybe it's this guy if the fee is sensible enough. Or maybe they were talking a load of crap - can't remember who it was who said it.

Watched him live 3 times in the last 2 years. I don't think he's had a hard days works in 3 years. This league will be too fast for him. He only plays 8 games a season. Real Madrid and an intense CL knockout.

Great player. 55million euros is a robbery though.

But for half of that, he would be a great buy. Better than all of our midfielders. A proper baller, who knows to play the game.

Personally I think our squad is in a state whereby we need to mix young blood and experience. Our experienced players are largely deadweight.

He would tick the box in midfield, just don't throw stupid money and a 5-year contract at him.

31 is a fine age for a central midfielder with excellent technique. Wouldn't pay a high fee for him though.

He isnt suited to the PL at this stage of his career. Schweinsteiger without the injuries. Good profile of a player in theory, but his legs...

Also he doesn't really want to leave, he loves Spain and his wife is from there. He will just be here because nobody else will take him and Barca want him out.
