Everton
Would you be happy if Everton buy him for 30m (with 100k/wk wage), though? I'm not asking about other club, just Everton (as you're supporting Everton).
I wouldn't be against it. I thought that the fee for Richarlison was too much and he proved to me this season that it hasn't been. Lingard would be a good player for us, sure.

Fair enough, if you think he's good enough to replace one of your attacker.

Just curious. Who'd you be happy Lingard is replacing in Everton starting XI?

I’m guessing there’s a billion twitter twats giving him shit over that necklace. Which they would have never even known about if he hadn’t taken the time to stop and take a selfie with a fan.
He’s not a bad lad Pogue, most fans love him for what he has done. It’s concern he is losing focus and falling in with the wrong element who aren’t up to his potential

I get that. I just think the idea that Lingard is “the wrong element” is completely unfair, based on zero evidence that he’s in any way unprofessional. But we’re going in circles now. And I already said I’d take a break from this thread. So I should heed my own advice...

A lot of people think every Footballer should try to reach the level of say Cristiano and if they do not make that level they failed in someway. "They have not achieved anything" compared to who? You make look at them as players who are not good enough or who have not made the best of their talents. But, the likes of Rashford and Lingard if they compared themselves to the kids from their neighborhood, kids they went to school with and even players they were in the academy with they are definitely a success. And when they go back to their old neighborhood or back to their old school they are looked up to as a success. And they probably were able to buy their parents and help their family and close friends out financially so they would be viewed as a success in their eyes.
We are football fans. As such, of course we do not measure their success by how they compare with their blue collar neighbors. We measure their success by comparing them with other football players. And we judge them by how much effort and seriousness they put in favor of the club that is paying them millions.
The whole point of them being millionaire celebrities is that they are supposed to do superhuman stuff on the pitch. If they don't, it's only fair they'll be criticized. To accept that a player downs his tools and steals a living at their club is an attempt against the essence of football.
Let me do an analogy. I am a public servant. To work at my job I had to study for many years and defeat many competitors in a very, very difficult test. Does it mean I'm now allowed to rest on my laurels and suck at my job whilst collecting my fat paycheck every month? Of course not.

The main problem is that United fans are horrendously spoilt and most have never experienced years of mediocrity like 99% of other fans. Our fans have a black and white viewpoint where you sre either Man Utd level (meaning Premier League Champion level) or utter shit. But then if some of our players, like Lingard, are utter shit, then how shit are the players at Huddersfield? Utter utter shit? Or at Leeds? Humungously shit? What about at Salford or Accrington Stanley? Mind bogglingly shit? Or how about the football played by posters on this forum? Super mind-numbingly outrageously fecking shite. So however shite Lingard is, it just makes you, statistically, 10,000 times shitter than him.
Again, caf posters having to resort to comparing Premier League players to other caf members to make a point. That says a lot.
I will compare an amateur with another amateur. I will compare Accrington Stanley players with players on the same league and salary range.
When you are a millionaire playing for one of football's Leviathans, it's only fair to be compared to other players of similar status.
And if your point is that we're angry because we don't want to be West Ham, then you're right. So would any fan of a major club. Go ask an AC Milan fan to see if they're not apeshit about their team.

Comparing them to other Footballers and they still come out pretty well. And I really do not think they have rested on their laurels. Lingard has probably gotten the most you could have expected with his ability. Nobody expected Lingard to make it at Manchester United.

Jesse Lingard Is A Red!

And I meant to say before, the 0.012% rejoinder is a classic. A very short, sharp, dignified response. Others should learn from this.
He's more of a red than some of the deluded people on here hating on him

To other footballers as a whole yes. To footballers on other big PL clubs, no. Big no for Lingard, and a not yet for Rashford.
Ref. the rest on laurels thing. I really believe they are lacking a lot in ambition. There were several players that achieved a lot in a MU jersey with half the skill of Lingard. Playing for MU is an outstanding achievement, but once you do that the next natural step is being a serial winner with the club. Instead, these players seem to believe they achieved everything. That's where their attitude fails them, their employer, and their fans.

The fact these boys wear the shirt is making it to them these days

That attitude needs to die right quick

At least win 1 major trophy before you start acting like you've made it, wearing your pimp suits and necklaces .
Why? What's the problem with Lingard having additional stream of income whilst he's famous and on the high - still playing in one of the biggest leagues?

If the line is shit let the market decide - he'll close shop if it isn't selling.

Why does titles and accolades are even in the conversation. Salif Diao has a CL medal. Luke Chadwick has a PL medal. Do they "deserve" it more?

Didn't one of the Chelsea players, Lampard or Le Saux or someone, do a degree in Latin while they were playing?

I don’t want to preach but Ferguson told Rio Ferdinand who had “made it” to cut out all the shit with his merk videos. “Will it make you a better player” Rio listened.

So what all these muppets that are embarrassing us every week while our competition are still playing in major euro finals are correct?

I doubt if Lingard closes shop will turn to Ronaldo.

Both of them give their best when wearing the shirt when I see them on the pitch. When sometimes their best isn't good enough you can't blame social media for it.

I can understand if Martial was doing this, but not those two, that excess criticism looks bit off.

Rio had a clothing line, a tv show, a record label, a digital magazine and produced a movie during his time at the club. Wrong player to bring up here.

He also regularly won medals.

That's the difference. If we were winning laurel and Hardy could behave however the feck they liked and it wouldn't be a problem.

Are you saying Lingard has achieved Rio level or just bringing Rio into the mix to hide the fact JlingZ has blagged a wage at United?

I am just pointing out that all of the off the pitch activities Rio did did not effect what he did on the pitch and that Lingard's off the pitch activity is also probably not effecting his on the pitch performance. If you think Lingard is not good enough he is not good enough but it is not because of his clothing brand or what he does on Instagram or whatever.

I say he's not good enough and also maybe he's off the pitch antics have effected he's game who knows. What I do know is that Rio, Becham or any of the others who had other commitments didn't let that effect there game as there record speaks for it's self. I think you can't compare what Rio did off the pitch with Lingard because Rio backed it up on the pitch and Lingard has become a bit of a laughing stock and it's effecting our youth players and I'd say it is effecting Rashford.

him trying to spin off his shite JLings brand by using Manchester United as a platform
Manchested United (social media team) is not dumb enough to give his brand a platform on social media, if they didn't think that would benefit the club's social media presence.
If he or Rashy are showing up more often on the club media, then that is deliberate and sanctioned by the club.
