Gw have a new line of "contrast" paint coming out. Looks like hexwraith flame kinda stuff but in a full range of colours for quickly painting armies.

Very interested, could help blast through a backlog of stuff like poxwalkers.

This has got me very interested as well. I've basically stopped what i'm working on and am going to wait and see what these are like, they look especially good for flesh to be fair so i might end up stripping what i've done so far on my Beasts of Chaos and going full bore with this contrast stuff since i'm incredibly lazy.

It looks absolutely amazing for smashing out rank and file troops. I might finally start a gobbo army

Yeah i'm very tempted to do some goblins now, seen the contrast stuff used on the Mangler Squigs as well and it looked good even on that big of a model. Probably focus on my beasts first though as i've seen a Gor done with just contrast stuff that looked really good too!

 I've been tempted by the Blood Angel one myself but not caved yet! Do you have to paint them yourself?

The squigs did look especially good to be fair, gonna get me a squig horde.

Nah they come painted so purely decoration, definitely go grab one

Yeah the squig stuff is all great, i nearly caved and went for Looncurse since i liked both halves but i stayed strong (and was away when it was released so couldn't preorder anyways :D )

Ah that's good to know, i'll definitely have to pick one up!

I've so much shit to do, and they have the temerity to keep brining out more shit I want.

Feckers.
I know.

I “accidentally” started a Drukhari army the other day as if I didn’t have enough to paint

As bad as me man!

I'm holding off on anything until these contrast paints though, hopefully they'll be super useful for me to get a load of stuff painted quickly!
I was planning on doing just that, but then someone said pick something out for your birthday and we'll get it for you. I picked the Nighthaunt, and since I was the one that had to order it anyway, "you know, I may as well pick some bits up..."

It was either the Nighthaunt or a kitted out Titan...

Awwwww yeah!

I kinda miss the pewter/white metal minis. The weight of them feels premium. Probably because back when I started on LOTR, all the soldiers were plastic and heroes metal.

Yeah there’s for sure something about them, we must have started at a similar time. Heroes and the special troops were nice metal.

I’m always tempted to glue washers or something into the bases of my plastic ones for a bit of weight

Yeah same. Can't paint either atm due to a bleed on the brain during an operation leaving me weak on right hand side but I am still picking up a bunch of stuff I don't really need right now!
Ah that’s a shit sorry to hear that, suppose you can justify it by considering it motivation to push forward with recovery right ;)

As if GW weren’t releasing enough I just discovered Discworld Miniatures so that’s not great for me

Oh my god, they're amazing, love Cohen the Barbarian too. Well, feck, I love them all!
Yep they really are cool, I’ve been looking for something different to GW recently as a bit burnt out so these could be perfect

I used to play lots of 40k in school. Just started browsing the GW site (while trying to ignore the CL final).

What’s this Kill Team game? Looks interesting. I presume the rules are more intricate than a typical 40k battle given the smaller numbers on each side?

It’s pretty cool if you don’t have the time anymore for full 40k armies and the like. It’s basically a skirmish game and if you don’t play with the recent expansions all the rules you need are contained in the one book so you don’t need a separate codex for each different army which is nice.

Rules wise it’s actually not that complex I don’t think, you take it in turns to play individual models rather than one person getting to play their whole army in one turn.

It’s fun to play as the games aren’t as long as 40k and you can do some cool campaigns with people, like you can with Necromunda.

 I like the sound of that for the reasons you've mentioned. Moving just one model per turn changes the dynamic quite a lot.

I remember Necromunda first being released in some White Dwarf editions in the early 90s but it never became a proper game at the time. Loved the premise, developing gang members over time and such. I started playing it with my mates but the rule set was only half baked so couldn’t make it work. Played that Joe?

I think I did something similar with my mates, we played sort of home brew rules so never played properly. They rereleased it not long ago and it’s well supported, I’ve actually got a gang I’m in the process of building at the moment but haven’t actually played the new games yet.

Less burnout, and more interest/addiction, but I've been picking up some proxy stuff, and some other games here and there too. Just got a few charachters from Wild West Exodus because steampunk Abe Lincoln. Also got Bass Reeves and Jesse James.

Recently for my DG I finished a Kromlech Rotten Butcher, no feckin' idea what it'd be used for in a game mind, it's way bigger than a daemon prince(so big it doen't fit on the 60mm base, which it comes with) but not fat enough for a Great Unclean One.

It's getting incredibly popular, and very quickly too. Between the small model count meaning you can spend time on each or build a unit quickly, and a quick game time. I read it takes something like 40 minutes for a game, which would be just enough time for the board setup on 40k.

There's a lot less dice rolls for things like wounding too.

If I recall correctly, the new Necromunda's been made a bit more approachable rules-wise, too?

Would love to see them redo Mordheim, but I guess they can't since the end times.
