He's better than Walker. City cannot get much better than they already are, so it will be tweaks here and there now.
He may well be, but it's a bit crazy isn't it. Spend £50m on a fullback and replace within 2 years even though his level has been pretty damn good.

If Cancelo is available, we should try to get him, I will take him above AWB and Meunier. But 50 million price tag is going to be a problem

Why are Juve trying to sell him? I thought they signed him only a season ago?
It was because of issues with Allegri i think, maybe someone knows more. But since he is gone, he will likely stay, unless he decided to leave anyway and they obviously would cash in than keep an unhappy player. Dybala decided to stay this summer, i would be surprised if Cancelo doesnt do the same. Juve would be dumb to sell him, they wont find a better Rb in the next years anyway.

Aargh thanks izec. From the little I’ve been watching Juve, Cancelo has been very good, especially from an attacking POV - great delivery creating chances for Ronaldo & co.

Hence I was a bit confused as to why they’d sell. But I guess he will be staying now. Same as Dybala.

I suspect we’d try and get him if it were possible. I know he’s rated extremely highly amongst the ex-players, well, the Neville’s due to their time with him at Valencia. Both Neville’s were full-backs themselves, and with the likes of Ole, Rio and Fletcher potentially having great influence in these matters, I suspect he’d be a target if it were possible.

He’s a fabulous player though, and the best right back around I think.

So how would you compare him to Meunier/AWB?
Comfortably better than both in attack, and just an all-round better footballer. I think we could develop Dalot to be as good as him. Cancelo also had issues with his defensive game when he was developing iirc and was played many times at RW too.
He is the kind of FB you break the bank for, not Wan-Bissaka.

I think Kimmich is better.

Don't agree with you on AWB. Imo opinion, Cancelo is a better attacking player than AWB - but the latter is more solid defensively, he is 3 years younger and a more physical player than Cancelo. I would gladly take either, but AWB can dominate the right-back position for 10-11 years. So he is my first choice

Wan-Bissaka might be younger and a defensive 'beast', but his all-round game is still lacking. For FBs anyway, attacking game trumps defensive game imo.

Would love him here but sadly if City wants him, our chances are slim. With Bernardo already there, I’m sure the tapping up has been going on for some time now. I wouldn’t want us to even think about AWB for 50 mill but Cancelo might just be worth it

Doesnt make sense to me why they would sell. He said a few weeks ago he would like to stay and it was reported they want to keep him. Allegri is gone now, and he would be perfect for Sarri. It just doesnt make any sense to sell a player who performed pretty good and cant be replaced easily. Do Juve need money? I just cant explain it, unless he has fallen out with more people at the club. Sporting wise, and for 60m, it doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

I think it is a massive red flag. If he's as good as people think he is Juve would be wanting to keep him for their push at the CL.

Nah, he was genuinely very good this season. He wasnt the best fit for Allegri or any other defensive minded manager, but attacking wise, he is as good as you will get with being decent defensively. They wont find a better RB.

Thats why everyone is baffled. I had a look at the Juve forum, they all want to keep him as well and know as much as us why they would sell him.

They seemingly want to cash in because they can do without him. Also Juventus scored 3 more league goals than Spurs, so wouldnt describe them as particularly defensive. Still 3rd most in the league

Yeah it's really weird. Unless they see Spinazzola playing on the right(naturally right footed afterall) and really liked him(which in fairness, i did) and they could do a nice profit(some ~20-30m) off cancelo to go for a midfielder...

There’s only one way this goes. We’ll chase him (rightfully so) and he’ll need time to make decision. In that time Meunier will sign for someone else and we’ll end up paying 10 million over the initial asking price for AWB. Mind you ending up with AWB is hardly anything to be upset about.

That's likely to happen. Also, I can see City signing some of the players we need like Rodri as CDM, Cancelo, Félix, etc.

Why would they sell?
If the news are real, the only cliché explanations are need for quick cash on Juve's part to address other priorities, or player simply wanting a raise. Perhaps something to do with Massimo Allegri leaving ?

For now I don't see other logical reasons with him having contract to 2023.

Pogba for Dybala and Cancelo? I can live with that.
I don't think we need Dybala. I would take 100 mill pounds + Cancelo
Use the 100 mill to buy Felix or some other good CM
