At which point Madrid, Barca, City etc might also be on board. We need to go all out now. Spend last seasons transfer kitty. Where has that all gone?
Mourinho spent most of it it a couple of months early on Sanchez and then cried about needing more money when he did not perform.

How much did Sanchez cost us then?
He is by far the most expensive signing we ever made. He took up wage room equivalent to three top players, which Mourinho very well knew.
On top of that we paif the Arse 25m to use him for four extra months.
I guess you are one of those fixated on transfer fees. Transfer fees are bordering to irrelevant for a club like United. We could probably go out an invest in De Ligt, Neymar, Felix and a couple of more as long as they are young or a bona fide superstar like Neymar. They will not lose asset value and we will get back our investment, maybe more.
Woodward was not wrong when he said that we can do almost anything in the transfer market. Which we can, our problem is the wage bill.
Mourinho would have had 3-4 players more last summer had he not signed Sanchez and given a new fat contract to Fellaini, and that has only to do with our wage bill (which eclipsed Citys with the Sanchez deal). Thats on Mourinho.
Anyways, nothing of this has to do with a "transfer kitty". We have a "wage kitty", which is to 90 percent what governs what players the club can sign.
This got OT, I will leave it at that.

We have one of the lowest wage/revenue ratios in the world. It doesn’t really limit us.

Is every 'potentially good player but hasn't done it quite yet' £120-150m these days?

Ridiculous. Sancho is worth £50m tops.

I mean hasn’t their only really been two? One of those was also a panic reaction from Barca because they lost Neymar when they said it was impossible and the fact that Dortmund didn’t want to sell, didn’t have to sell but since Barca asked Dembele to kick up a fuss they might as well fleece Barca for all their worth.

You here Leroy Sane being touted at fees of 80mil, Chiesa,Lemar, Pulisic and so on. I think Sancho should probably go for around 80mil which is still ridiculous.

Anyway I’m starting to lean more towards Havertz. He is someone we should be investing in the last month he just had. Keeps that form up and he’ll be going for a 100mil + soon.

Thats just not true. Today its just above 50 percent which is the recommended ratio for football clubs. Spurs is at 40 percent. Arsenal at 47 for example.
Barcelona even have the number 50 percent in their statutes to prevent the club from going south I believe. All their presidents ignore it though and its going to come back and bite them sooner or later.
As long as we are at 50 percent the owners are doing what can be asked from them.

They're very different players. One's a goal scorer and the other is a supplier/scorer.

Personally, i'd go with the supplier/scorer which means Sancho as he'd bring more to the squad and we lack creative players in the squad.

Thanks for the reminder about Havertz. I checked him again and what a seriously impressive player (much more than the dozens of hype jobs we hear about constantly). One thing I can't quite figure out is his position!

Havertz is exactly who we should be going for. Go back for Sancho next year.

Very well siad. That's why you should focus on young wonderkids and break the bank for them instead of overpaid veterans if you want to do a rebuild the squad. When you have the backbone than you can invest on players at peak to tune the squad (if the wage bill alows it)

If we can't afford Sancho this year there is little chance we can afford Havertz as well. He will be just as expensive.
Buy them both and potentially have two world class players for a looooooong time. Or we look for the next Sanches wink wink.

The biggest risk with having those players leading the rebuild is that they might become impatient if the rest of the team isn't up to scratch. Say that we get two wonderkids for £100m each over two years. That won't leave a huge amount to invest in other positions.

If we're not challenging by the third year, the wonderkid can't be relied upon to stay out of loyalty if Real or Barca come calling. They should definitely be part of the rebuild, but the rest of the team is just as important to invest in, especially in a team that only has two proper top class players, if we're being realistic.

Why are we even talking about Havertz as if he's a realistic option? He's Bayern bound, put your money on it.

Those are outdated numbers, tbf. We're at 50% now for starters.

Those are numbers per 30 June 2017. United historically has had an wage bill around 40 percent, under the PLC and SAF as well. The Sanchez deal and other dealings under Mourinhos last 18 months put us over 50 percent and we surpassed City in total wages during the 2017/2018 season.
Anyways, I was just commenting on your claim that we have one of the "lowest wage/turnover ratios in the world", which is just not correct or at least hyperbole.
50 percent is completely sound for a football club of our size, and you cant really blame the owners for not putting the clubs finances in danger.
EDIT
I should add also (which is forgotten or maybe unknown to many): We are limited as a club as to how much we can increase the wage bill yearly according to PL-rules. There were (unsubstantiated) rumors that we came close to breaking those rules with the Sanchez-transfer. At least its pretty certain that it was another reason why our wage bill was the problem for Mourinho the summer of 2018. Not the clubs ability to supply capital for transfers.

He is not just a goal scorer by any means whatsoever. He has a great passing range and can travel with the ball.
