Interesting player. Never seen before the videos, remember the Norwich/Everton links and a friend who watches Bundesliga says he’s not got enough for us.
However, lots in those videos that Lukaku could only dream of. Lukaku really is an embarrassment to professional footballers with his technical ability for someone who trains every day and has been a pro since mid-teens. Maybe my expectations have fallen so far because of him but happy to give many strikers a go if it means we get rid of him. They can’t be as bad.
How Jose and the scouts thought this guy could be a target man confuses me.

He is really not United quality. he played a couple of years at Utrecht. Looked decent in the Dutch league but was never outstanding

How his embarrassing first-touch got past our scouts confuses me.
Our scouts have had a few years off due to Mourinho trusting his own independent scouts ahead of the club scouts according to Jason Burt.

Dont know about that, I mean didn't they see how bad Darmian was offensively, Schneiderlins on the ball abilities or do the managers make the final decision and get who they like?

Managers have had the power of veto.

Rojo was signed because LVG was really impressed when he analysed the Netherlands v Argentina semi for instance.

Darmian from what I've read in the past wasn't a tier 1 target, but was signed after we got frustrated trying to sign Clyne from Southampton.

We must be aiming for a mid-table if this the caliber of player we’re consider as a replacement for Lukaku. Why not get Icardi or better yet surround Lukaku with wingers that can actually cross the ball and provide opportunities. Seems a lot of us are in the grass is greener mindset and are in for a rude awakening.
Lukaku is the definition of a mid table striker

Is he really worse though, or just less hype?
Jovic is more technical and agile but Haller is the stronger one out of the two and unlike Lukaku, he tends to put his strength to use. I would rather we get mitrovic who's just as strong but quite technical and agile however, he isn't that clinical.

Missed an absolute sitter against Chelsea in extra time that could have got them to the final.

Looks like he'd be an interesting choice provided we get somebody alongside him to benefit from his link up play.

I've seen him play once, against Chelsea, and he was abysmal.

Why wait until Jovic has been sold to register interest in the player.

Is it likely the club will sell two of their most prized front men in one window ? This is absolute stupidity.
He'd probably cost about the same too. Signing the lesser player for the same price or more would be so post-Fergie United.

Sounds a bit like a Fellaini replacement, someone to hoof the ball up to when we go route one. Not exactly inspiring stuff, but I suppose handy.

Interesting link, never heard of the guy before.
Done a bit of research and youtube watching and he seems like a good striker whose gone under the radar.

Only scored 2 goals less than the to be 'Superstar' Jovic, while assisting more in the Bundesliga.
Got an average rating of 7.55 whereas Jovic ended the season with a 7.00 on Whoscored.

In Fifa, the guy has 98 strength

As for youtube, he has a lot of everything really. I actually enjoyed watching his highlights.
Now, the only issue I see with him is he gets a lot of runs in behind where he plays the ball off, which is great, if we can play that way. I almost feel we'd need to have our build up play setup to compliment him.

I do enjoy how quite a few are dismissing him as a nothing player in here, yet willing to spend heaven and earth on players who have looked alright in 6months of first team exposure in leagues weaker than the Bundesliga and even though they won't say it, the reason being their teenagers rather than 24

He was a nightmare for Chelsea recently in the SF, I remember him coming on and being a right pain in the arse.

Scouts heard there’s a decent striker in Frankfurt and come away with the wrong one. Typical United.

He's a poor man's Lukaku and we're trying to sell Lukaku, that's all you need to know.

Adding a young unproven striker is a better option? At least with Icardi you know what you’re getting, there may be bs off the field but on the pitch there’s no questioning his talent.
Icardi is as bad as Lukaku when it comes to target play and contributions outside of the box though. If not worse, Lukaku wins some duels due to his pure size at least.
I dont disagree with your opinions about the flaws in Lukakus game but to advocate replacing him with Icardi who is every bit as bad in the same respects of the game I totally disagree on. Plus that Icardi is a cnut and that we should stay well clear of him just because of that.

He can play very well with his back to goal - he would be the only forward in our entire squad (including Lukaku) who can actually do this.

I have seen some comparisons with Trezeguet this season - they are probably a bit much at this stage(!) but he would at the very least be a very good plan B for us, while also likely being a good foil for Rashford/Martial in games he starts.

You must be joking? Right?
One of the best attacking talents in Europe and probably the best in the Bundesliga. I watch a lot of Bundesliga football and he is a better overall player than Lukaku.

Based on this season Haller is a very good striker and has every right to be monitored by top clubs. But on the other hand it is the first season where he really delivers, so there's also the question whether he can build on this form.

Haller is great as a target man, but is not mobile enough to be intensive enough as a first line of defence. While he is extremely good at taking down hoof-balls, he is similar to Lukaku and Rooney when receiving the ball in his feet. If we were to buy this type of striker, I would rather go for Poulsen from RB Leipzig. A similar player that is at the same age as Haller, but is more athletic and offers more in terms of mobility and pace. If we can bring in someone like this to do the dirty work up top, I think players like Rashford, Martial and Greenwood will flourish.

If I were to guess I'd say Frankfurt will demand something around €40m (pure speculation on my part). Maybe they'd go up to ~€50m for United, given the club has been quite generous in the past, but I don't see them demanding the same fee as Jovic, since Haller is 3.5 years older and has much less hype around him.
