Sky sports news reporting that James Rodríguez has asked to leave Bayern and return to Real Madrid from his loan spell.

What next for him? Is there a place for him at Real under Zidane?

No place for him before under Zidane so I doubt there is now.

I hope we don't consider him as we've had our fingers burnt too many times with these sort of players.

How’s he done at Bayern? Didn’t they want to buy him but he decided against Germany himself...

Both, he was very good last season but this season Kovac hasn't preferred him this season. Kovac didn't want him to stay and James didn't want to play for him, so in the end it was mutual.

Good technically but mentally weak player, will probably end up at a 2nd tier club.

I think Napoli are supposed to be heavily interested and that’s where I can see him going.

I find it very strange seeing as he will be wanting top money wherever he goes . This only leaves a few clubs. Can see him playing for liverpool if I'm honest. They need an creative attacking midfielder

I think Serie A is his most likely destination. Napoli or perhaps Milan.

Didn’t Bayern come out yesterday and say they weren’t activating the option to buy him? Sounds like he’s trying to save face

Strange player tbh. Even during his time at Porto there were parts of the season where every manager would bench him.

Woody is going to sign him for 30m haha. He loves big names and we are lacking creative left footers... especially with Mata pernaps on his way out. Good player, but not what we need.

I think it's mutual. He doesn't want to stay and play under Kovac, and the club doesn't have a use for that sort of thing.

Deffo take him. Not like we have a great selection of creative players in the squad. Be better option then Mata to use from the right. Good set pieces as well. Can actually deliver ball in.

Dude clearly has attitude issues. It only worked out for him under Ancelotti who is more of a lenient manager.

He'll end up at Napoli together with Ceballos and Theo.

Like Coutinho he is sort of lost in Football right now since he is a natural #10 while almost all of the top sides are playing 4-3-3.

It's going to be weird when someone go back to a classic 4231 with a number 10 and everyone start calling him a genius and the inventor of the system. There is a lot of good players that are undervalued because of trends.

Who would you rather have - Mata or James? Both are slow but have great technique. I am tempted to say James but not much in it.

Neither is what we need to be fair.

My girlfriend is Colombian so I have seen a lot of James in the last 3 years and he never fails to impress me. His passing is sublime. He isn't the quickest so I don't know if he would fit the style Ole wants to play but he is certainly a massive upgrade on Mata or Lingard.

He was... until Heynckes turned him into a pretty good CM, though Kovac had other (no) ideas.

He's much more versatile now than he used to be. I think he'd be a solid addition to any club.

James is easily the better player.

He was a monster for us. Like Ozil except he ran his socks off, put in a shift defensively, scored a lot, and was a big time big game player

But he seems to have attitude issues, which makes him a risk if he doesn't like the club/city or the manager is the kind to put that above performance

Would be great to see him in Italy. Even better if Zidane could change his mind and keep him :(

I can’t believe no one on the Caf hasn’t picked on this yet. James who?

He will be great under Ancelotti. In a year people will wonder why no one pick him up for such a great price. He played wonderfully well under both Ancelotti and Heynckes. He is quality. He will join either Napoli or Juventus this summer.

Not sure where he goes but I’ve always rated him highly. Hardworking final third merchant with a bit more to offer than his contemporaries in Ozil, Coutinho, Dybala etc.

Im not going to talk about us but I think the lad is the player that Arsenal should go for to replace Ozil & Ramsey.

Ridiculously talented player. It pisses me off he's not as professional as he should be.

It will be Klopp.

Going back to his favored 4231 after buying one of those available quality players.

 :(

Ralf Rangnick.
I would take him here yesterday. No brainer. It would lift the burden off Pogba's shoulders for one. We need more top creative players.

Looked really good in CM last season I felt. Bin Lingard and bring him in on one those Madrid loans.

A real quality player, however you need to play him in the correct position to get the very best out of him. He can do a job on the RW, no problem but you won't get the best out of him unless he's played centrally. He could play in a 3 man midfield, would never work if Pogba was also in the midfield however as it would be too attacking. His best position is as a no10 but very few top clubs play with one these days. That is where he featured for Colombia and had the license to roam and he was deadly. His passing, long range shooting and general game intelligence is up there with the best.

He did well at Madrid but never really found a true place there. He was often left out of the squad as he had attitude/injury problems and was often seen out in the city at night partying. Hasn't really kicked on at Bayern much. Argubaly he has taken a step back, as he has only shown glimpses of what he can do rather than any consistent form over the two years.
