EA have actually hired people from the FIFA online community to help with development of this one, and by what they have said on the recent pitch notes they seem to understand the issues with 19 so I have higher hopes than usual.

Still would get it regardless, but always hopeful it will be the best one yet

I’m hoping since it’s a nice round number and milestone in the series they might have some big changes but I’m not hopeful. Gameplay needs a serious revamp, as does the AI and the career mode.

I just hope they invested bit more into the game than they did in the teaser.

Have they moved from frostbite yet? That's a large part of what's holding them back
How so? It's a powerful and good engine. Problem is they don't want to invest resources in gameplay/graphics, they rather fully focus on online modes.

We've literally been saying this since the beginning of time.

No it’s terrible for non Battlefield games. It’s why the animations of Mass Effect Andromeda were a mess and the same can be said for Fifa.

When a issue occurs on the frostbite engine it can take days to fix, where as on the Unreal tech it can take hours according a former EA worker.

Not many EA employees unless they dice enjoy working on it.

They only focus on one online mode even though pro clubs is rumoured to have a big upgrade this year. But we’d see about that.

It just seems very limited in what they can do with it, look at all the glitches etc in fifa 19, theres always been an OP go to move to ensure a goal whilst using frostbite too. The way the players move, it isn't 360 degrees and its fluid, where you can turn, move, dribble, pass, shoot etc is limited.

As a football simulator game, it's far from the real thing.

"Frostbite is like an in-house engine with all the problems that entails—it's poorly documented, hacked together, and so on—with all the problems of an externally sourced engine. Nobody you actually work with designed it, so you don't know why this thing works the way it does, why this is named the way it is."

"If it takes you a week to make a little bug fix, it discourages people from fixing bugs. If you can hack around it, you hack around it, as opposed to fixing it properly."

- This is what the Anthem dev team are blaming for their shit show. EA of course should know about it but lots of their devs have spoken out too if my memory is correct.

Really they should swallow their pride, pay Epic the 5% and jump to Unreal.

Hired 2 people, very late in the cycle. I honestly don't expect them to meaningfully improve on these issues. To some extent I think the issues are core to the current monetization strategy (which is to induce some level of frustration that drives some people to spend heavily on packs).

Don't.

The thing is, FIFA is not built around frostbite, it's just being used for certain parts like cutscenes in journey mode. Base game is running on some old custom built engine which is outdated and most of "gameplay improvements" made in the last X years have basically been tweaking the sliders which can take you not very far. They clearly do not care how it plays on the pitch and why would they, you have 1000s of Youtubers uploading daily videos of them opening packs and doing SBCs as it's more interesting than playing a morally and technically outdated game. It really sucks that FIFA does not have any competition and they can easily sell copies even if they only reskin and update players database every year.

Fifa 64 and I'll still be disappointed after waiting on some development or depth to pro clubs.

They'll add tattoos or something.

Pro clubs could be the greatest mode ever that EA have had on any game, yet they never make the necessary additions/changes because it doesn't make them money.

No, the game runs on Frostbite and has done so since FIFA 17.

It really does not, it's used mainly for visuals like I said, cutscenes. Anyway, not gonna discuss it any further :)

Who have they hired from the online community? Unless they can code, fix their servers and add new game modes I’m sure they’d be just another bunch of yes men. Not that I’d blame them, but they won’t make a difference.

What will make a difference is when people stop buying Fifa points. Then EA will start to realise that they need to do something here. If you keep buying Fifa points, why would the change drastically? That’s all they care about. Even the game is being made to encourage you to buy points. All the complaints about Fifa have been there for years. I laugh when people say Fifa 16 and 17 were good times. They were ok games, but nothing special. For me from Fifa 09-13 were the best games and it started going downhill after that. Not forgetting the World Cup 2010 game which was great.

Fifa 20 will use the same engine regardless. Fifa 21 will be out on next gen consoles and there’s a chance of a new engine.

If they serious then release a proper beta this time. It’s just stupid because whenever the release a game they end up doing a uturn and patching it three months down the line. A beta would resolve that as people can tell them the exploits and issues to resolve. Also timed shooting and moving the GK are still in the game because according to EA some pros wanted it in the game. Did you want it in the game @Eddy_JukeZ or @Macern? That goes for any of the regular FUT players. How many of you actually wanted those two features in the game?

EA are lying if they said pros want those features in the game.

No pro I've talked to wants it in the game.

I want it removed. Since it won't be removed, I wish EA would make timed shooting for headers/volleys only(highly unlikely though).

Feck the online community and the pandering to the gits who go on about it 24/7 in the FIFA Caf thread. I want some significant improvements to the offline mode and some significant gameplay improvement. To this day it still plays like a damn pinball game on ice.

You're wrong.

The FIFA engine has been on Frostbite since FIFA 17.

They don't have 2 engines. All EA games have been using Frostbite for a while now.

Definitely not! I haven’t used timed finishing in several months actually. I think FIFA should be about understanding of the game, ability to make the right decision on the ball and such, not about how well (or in a lot of cases lucky) you can move the goalkeeper and how good you are at hitting the shoot button twice in a row.

Regarding the engine, I don’t think there’s much hope of seeing a significantly improved FIFA 20 with the Frostbite engine. So many glitches, inconsistency and opportunities to exploit the flaws. Every time they try to fix something another problem appears. And it has gotten to the point that they can’t code the referees properly either, FIFA 19 has the worst refs in any FIFA hands down.

Are the figures out there for money made through UT vs sales of the game?

Currently it's just the graphics that are on frostbite, with the actual game engine changing over to it this year

I imagine this will be a groundbreaking 0.1% improvement over 19.

I will buy it nonetheless.

career mode hasn't had any significant upgrade since 2013, it's still fundamentally the same mode just with extra bells and whistles. They haven't even fixed the scheduling problem in that time.

Where is this from?
I don't actually know if I've just made it up, but I'm sure I've read numerous times that the graphics are run from Frostbite and not the actual gameplay, however I could well be wrong as I now can't find anything on it
