I absolutely fecking hated his Moriarty. But Fleabag has gone some way to repairing the damage.
Never watched him on telly. Only thing I’ve seen him in was a fairy low rent Irish comedy film called The Stag. Which he was quite funny in. He’s a friend of a friend, though, who I’ve met a few times. So I’m going all in on Team Scott for this one.

Just watched the first episode and thought it was decent.

Didn't care about the first episode but loved Smithereens. It does hit close to home at many points.

Andrew Scott is a great actor. Loved him in the second episode.

Genuinely think that first episode is in conversation for worst Black Mirror episode. Both the tech and storyline are things we've seen Black Mirror do before better (seriously, did Brooker forget he'd made San Junipero already when hacking out that one?) and I felt it seriously lacked heart.

Watched the Ashley Too one just now. Right up there with the Waldo episode as the worst of the lot. Hopefully the remaining two are better.

Didn't enjoy the first one at all. It felt like it was trying to make a point but just never got there

The second (smithereens) was great

Loved Smithereens and hated the other two. If we're going to wait an year for 3 episodes they could do better than making two crap ones.

I liked the first one so far. Like a Matrix version of Moonlight.

I would buy one of those VR sets and never come out again.

I did enjoy the first one but I agree with others that there was no real point in the end, I mean, it all worked out pretty well for them. I also thought the fights themselves were pretty cool with the CGI attached.

Funny to see it slated on here when it's probably been the best reviewed one so far, guess that's Black Mirror for you.

It's OK, not fantastic or anything. Was just watching season 3 and 4, those seasons had some fantastic episodes with some real futuristic tech. The super tech in this season isn't anything special except for the VR thingy in episode 1
Also Andrew Scott, he was good in Fleabag and fantastic in the second episode

Well that might just tell you about the quality of the other two...

Smithereen is definitely pretty average too. It's almost pulled off by an excellent performance from Andrew Scott, but its message whilst undoubtedly true felt too flimsy to carry an hour long episode.

Here's hoping Ashley Too can redeem the season.

It's utterly abysmal. I haven't watched the first two but if that is your hope for redemption, err I dunno.

I'd be interested in your opinion once you've seen the others. I enjoyed it, not up to the standards of BM at its best, but a decent enough episode.

Perhaps my expectations were lowered.

Alright season overall, not their best but always watchable at the very worst.

Episode 1: Thought there was some interesting stuff conceptually insofar as how entering your character in a VR game like that could potentially impact sexuality - i.e. that it's perhaps possible to emotionally love someone but not be physically attracted to them...unless they then become a woman. And how the guys mate seemed to not view himself as gay in spite of what he was doing. But it felt like they were fitting the concept around the characters as opposed to the other way round, which is never generally a good idea...the only character I thought worked was the wife, but then that was because her conflict felt more universal and almost disconnected from the VR game, even if that was what was driving it.

Episode 2: Really liked this one - not necessarily doing anything new but told an interesting story that managed to mesh together satire and dramatic tension well. Andrew Scott was terrific. Some of the police characters felt like something out of The Bill but the sheer volume of police/social media characters being thrown at us made me think that was almost intentional in how shallow and predictable they were in such a scenario.

Episode 3: Fine as an idea but they had no idea what tone they were going for. Veers from an interesting look at a lonely girl connecting to something that's fundamentally false and marketed towards her sadness, to a weird sort of heist comedy that still had undertones of horror at the same time. For as much as Brooker's capable of great comedy the jokes here fell really flat. And the ending was patently ridiculous. But Miley Cyrus did an alright job.

Didn't like any episode. Boring and certainly wasn't worth a wait.

Episode 1 really hit home for me in a different way. My wife's already complaining about me playing Metrodivanias and Soulsborne games every afternoon on the weekend. A VR game of these genres of the sort shown in this episode, with realistic violence and exploration would probably hook me the same way it did those 2 guys. I would need to prepare for a divorce.

Episode one was okay, episode two was really good, episode three was dreadful.
