Look guys, we gotta remain relevant somehow.
Think this nails it. Marketing is all we have at this point. We're like Hooters. Looks good in theory, but it's ultimately an outdated, miserable experience when you visit. At least their wings are good (allegedly).

Right, what do we want...

We want speed, fitness, and players who can get better.
Genius.

Now, let's see about getting them!

It sounds like the army recruitment slogan for a third world dictatorship. Having said that, most third world armies probably have a better recruitment record than us in recent years.

As usual, irrelevant cliché nonsense that means nothing or will change the mentality of the turds we call players in out team. Youth, courage, success... Overrated bunch of Youth the likes of who have nothing at all in our youth players of previous eras.

A team that sits back instead of attacking without retreat is what I could call courage but that is not Man United, at least not this current one.

Success? Are we keen on that or is increasing the sponsorship portfolio no longer the priority?

I agree with targeting young. But only if they have potential to be genuinely World Class. Not just the potential to be worth more in 4 years.

We need to be looking for the next Hazard, Suarez, Rooney, Kompany

Not more Smallings who were never going to reach that level

And invested in Martial too, he cost 60m euro at that time which is a lot for his age in 2015 market, he was the most expensive teenager player ever before Mbappe and Dembele.

I think we would be interested in Sane even if we have Martial and Depay already. if Jose didn't obsessed with Perisic, we go for young attack player, Sane would be likely to be the one we would show interests in. Sane is left-footed and could play on the right wing, he's also hard working off balls.
Why put a left winger on the right? What's wrong with a left footer on the left and right footer on the right? Seems to work well for Pep (Sane plays on the left and Sturridge on the right when those two start) and it used to work well for us...

Youth, not youth, we should know by now they all can be risky and got their pros and cons.

For me what we need is consistency first. Second comes technique, ability, energy, hunger and being fit.

I don't care what age. If the player has that, I'm on that.

City use cut-back system with classic wingers, on the left flank, they need to use left foot to make a cutback and on the other side, they use right foot. The most club doesn't play classic winger like City on both flanks. When City don't need cut-back system, they use Mahrez on right with Sterling on left with fullback bombing as 3-4-3

Their wings are legitimately delicious.

If this is a slogan just for marketing, the outcome will be disaster. If, however, the intent is honest and target players are well evaluated, we can build a strong team within next couple of years. Some experiience is definitely needed but
Youth. Courage. Success > Failed.Lazy.Prima Donnas.

However they have their most success with Sane and Sterling. And when those two play they are on their natural wings. I would absolutely love if we did that. We play too narrow. Playing on your natural wing keeps you playing wider. Also, when you take your man outside if you get tackled the ball will typically go out for a throw or corner. When you are on your oppisite wing and cut in, if you get tackled the ball will typically go back up the field. We need to start playing simple. Wingers should be there to set up goals first and that happens from taking it wide and trying to get to the byline for a cut back or cross...

Marketing slogans, cringeworthy “feel-good” sayings, pr corporate speak...

I remember when we used to let our trophy cabinet do the talking. The last few years, you’d get more conversation out of a corpse.

Slogans are great when they can be seen to have an impact.

I took my Grandson to his first Wembley final when he was 10 years old, it was our League Cup win over Spurs (Ext-time+Pens) 2009/10. He was astounded when before the game the Spurs fans were waving the flags placed on their seats and it was all quiet from United fans, but then as the teams walked out, the United end erupted everyone stood up holding a banner saying simple 'BELIEVE'! the noise at the Spurs end dropped significantly and so did my Grandsons jaw!

He's never forgot that moment and never will, that's the impact of a slogan delivered as and when!

That was maybe the way 30 years ago. Last 10-15 years in PL rules are( Leicester was anomaly);
World class manager + (world) class players = success.
Buying players under the radar with hope that they will be new stars= 5th-10th place.

And there is no if or maybe or this or that; this is just reality( not just in PL). In PL you are fighting against best teams in Europe which are loaded with quality. Here, you must even for top 6 have high class team. The fact that you are Manchester United will not change things. In the end, it is all about how good are players and how good is manager. People here are hit with some national or local pride, nostalgia or something like that and because of that they can't see the truth. What do you think that we are the first club who got brilliant transfer idea to buy young, domestic players under the radar? While we will buy James who will maybe one day become high class player, City or Liverpool or Chelsea( ok, not this year:lol:) will buy player who is already high class now. They will replace first team player with another first team level player while we will say "give McT a chance" or buy "Rice or Longstaff".
It is just not how football works. You can and you must add unproven, young players but it is a process. You must do it slowly.

To be clear here, i had privilege to support this club during golden 90's and 00's so now i can live without titles and just enjoy in football. But if all this about our transfer policy is true than i am afraid that we will drop too deep and then it will be hard to go up again.
