Antoine Griezmann signs for Barcelona or maybe not?

Hmm see I’d take it if it was with Lukaku money, I’m spite of his Liverpool past. I miss having a FK and corner specialist. We’re woeful these days at both.
I think we'd soon get sick of him turning in on his right foot, and lashing 98 of every 100 shots over the bar.

He has been quoted on French TV saying "Já sei onde vou jogar na próxima temporada" which translates roughly to "I already know where I will be playing next season". Can only be Barcelona surely.

He’s going to do a Odemwingie isn’t he and drive to Barca’s training ground on deadline day.

Circa £100m on a 28 year old is showing a lot of faith

I can see Coutinho leaving
I'm wondering if the Griezmann slowdown/uncertainty/rumours has been a function of Barca finding out Coutinho might only net them 60M instead of Griezmann's fee.

Are they going to play Griezmann on the left or as a 9 moving right a bit with Suarez a bit wider left but up top like Cristiano plays?

I can't imagine they'll go 4-2-3-1 with Messi on the right?

Might be an awkward season until Suarez goes next summer I would guess?

Pretty sure they're just waiting for the window to open and his release clause to drop.

It’ll be Barcelona of course. I imagine it’s been agreed for the best part of a year.

Just a fun question.. if we still had our 2008 attack, Ronaldo, Rooney & Tevez all in their early 20’s, would Griezmann get in the team?

Nope, those three used to tear teams apart. He also plays on the right and that's where Ronaldo played.

I've always thought Griezmann was a little over rated tbh. Never seen him have a brilliant game. And he comes across as a bit of a knob

Dont know why, but I get the same vibes as I had with Muller, always scores but you never see them do anything brilliant.

He’ll end up at Barca with Messi and Griezmann behind Suarez.
Literally a strikers dream.

Getting a sneaky feeling that he will be our surprise Marquee signing. Seems Barca players don't want him, and their wage bill is already too high, PSG have FFP issues, and he was almost coming to us last season. If Sancho is unavailable then perhaps Griezmann is the alternative.

Allegedly, the story goes this way.

Griezmann decides he no longer wants to stay at Atleti.
Contacts Barcelona, deal is agreed, Barcelona know he'll be cheaper from July.
Starts a new documentary about him leaving.
Atletico want none of that nonsense again.
Atletico slip to journalists that Griezmann will leave.
Atletico announce Griezmann has told them that he won't remain with them,
Griezmann is forced to announce he's leaving by this.

Barcelona can't say anything now, because otherwise Atletico will send us to court for contacting Griezmann, and can't buy him until his release clause lowers to 120M on July, 1st.

And, news of him joining us gives teams leverage in order to negotiate for Coutinho or Suarez.
Athletico was right, Barcelona should stop trying to get the butter and the money for the butter.
Let the others refuse to pay much for Coutinho and Suarez, let them struggle to get Griezmann, if they ever succeed.

Would be embarrassing if the Barca players don’t want him, and no other club is willing to pay the €120m release clause (kicks in, in July) and he has to stay at Atletico.

*one can dream

Either he goes to Barca and they're keeping quiet because of legal matters, either he goes to PSG or us.

Even if he's quality I wouldn't want him here, we have enough instagram stars already.

Griezmann would take Tevez’s place behind Rooney.

He doesn’t play on the right, he’s a second striker.

Where do you think he would go if if Barcelona doesn't buy him?

Barca surely can't pay De Ligt AND Griezmann?

I doubt there are any takers for Coutinho at the price they'd be asking for.

I would not be suprised, if de Ligt moves to PSG and Griezmann to Barca. Besides the money and the squad, Tuchel should be another good argument for de Ligt. Barca, Real and Bayern have other priorities.

But at 31, 28 and 32....not sure they'd play many seasons together starting as a front 3.
I actually think Greizmann will replace Suarez in lots of games. Suarez goal stats are still good but everyone can see his all round game has been on the decline for 18 months now and it won't improve again with age he's at now.

Let's not forget Barca didn't have a single back up striker on the bench for Liverpool second leg. That hurt them a fair bit that night so Suarez can fill that role at points next season.

I reckon the club that won't sign De Ligt will get Griezmann.

This is based on nothing of course.

They are desperate for another CL while Messi is still about too, imagine they are more concerned with the short term than what happens in a few years time.

Barca main problem in CL has been their manager and defense more than their attack so not sure adding another forward will change much with Valverde around.

It's Antoine Griezmann... one of the best 10 players in the world easily in the past 5 years. Carried Atletico to the final in 2016.

Yeah, he'll help. They signed De Jong too and might have De Ligt still to come too

Madrid going bonkers in the summer and Barca still outperform them, it's insane.

It's going to be just a tad bit more hilarious when the usual people here pretend Barcelona are a one man team with 100 million players spread all across the pitch.

If it's been done since March, why hasn't he signed yet?
If he is buying his contract then that's the reason, he hasn't given the money to the LFP yet and as others have mentioned he and Barcelona are probably waiting for the moment where it's cheaper.
