If so i& f they played United, who would you want to win & why..?
Northampton Town. I was there in 1970, the George Best game when he scored 6. I had my United scarf on. I saw United before I saw 'The Cobblers' play, so United have always been my team.

No and to be honest i don't really get how people have the time to support two teams, following United is time consuming and heart breaking enough for me.

I used to work with a guy who supported Arsenal, Celtic, Barcelona, Juventus and Argentina. But according to him he wasn't a Glory Hunter and had valid reasons for supporting 5 different teams from cities and countries he'd never set foot in.

My theory was that he just liked stripey shirts.

Coleraine FC, I'm a Belfast native, but I used to visit my grandparents on Saturdays & my Grandfather (a United supporter himself) used to take me to the matches... it's also the ground where at the Milk Cup I watched a young Ryan Wilson play fairly well.

I'd want United to win anything other than a friendly.
Whatever happened to that lad? He looked promising.

I have a soft spot for Oldham. Like to see them do well.

Do you even like football?

Sadly I live in a pretty rubbish area for local football I'm from Aylesbury are local team went bust years ago MK are the closest to us that play at a semi decent level.

Will take my son to OT as soon as he is old enough.

I follow the results of Barrow, my home town. Not been to see them for 20+ years though since I moved away. United over Barrow any day!

ADO Den Haag, because I'm from Den Haag. I don't support them when they play Feyenoord, though I don't really care if they win. They have the greatest cult figure of all time in Tom Beugelsdijk.

Hibs as stayed in Edinburgh my whole life and regularly go along a couple of times to cheer them on.

If they were to play Utd, I’d be backing Utd all the way but wouldn’t be too down hearted if Hibs pulled off a shock result.

Cambridge United, Saw them play Man United during LVG's first season, in the FA Cup. Obviously wanted the reds to win :). First leg was 0-0, went back to Old Trafford and it was 3-0, which saw Rojo score his first United goal.

I remember it well. Best's first game after a lengthy suspension and he does that. Brian Kidd's double was pretty good too. The funniest part was Northampton's goalie was the brother of the then City captain, Tony Book.

Am I correct in that ADO has a huge hatred for Ajax? Passed by the stadium a few months ago. Nice city as well.

IFK Gothenburg.

Incredibly successfull in the 80's where they won the UEFA Cup twice(82,87) and got to semis in the European Cup where they lost to Barcelona after fecking up a 3-0 lead in the first leg and went to Barcelona and lost on penalties. Also won their group in 94/95 with teams like United, Barcelona and Fenerbache.

Sadly, it all went to shit after the successes in the 80's and 90's. They used their money incredibly bad and have been on the brink of relegation a few times, like last year. Had to sell their training ground and the financial struggles were at the level where they had to fire their own chef.

This year all the fans and the media projected them to be relegated and the financial struggles remain. However, they have had a massive year so far 12 games into the season sitting at 4th at 6 points behind Malmö on the top after 12 games including most of the top teams, with a very young squad and a manager(Poya Ashbagi, who turns 34 this year.
They have a very exciting prospect named Alhassan Yusuf, an 18 year old light version of N'Golo Kante who I wish United kept an eye on. Ajax and Barcelona are reportedly interested. Other prospects who have been excellent worth noting are Benjamin Nygren(ST/RM, 17 yrs), Giorgi Kharaishvili(LW, 22 yrs) and Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr (CAM, 22yrs). These players will hopefully save the clubs finances with their inevitable sales. However, they have relative low prices at the range of £2-£5m pounds and but could be worth a punt for a few bigger teams.

Turned out to be an essay of a post, but it makes me happy to see the club turn things around after almost 25 years of misery.
used to wonder what happened to them used to remember them from my early years in champs league

Yes, they very much do. The Hague and Amsterdam don't really like each other in general. But that's mostly because people from Amsterdam are cnuts :p

I like to see Swansea do well.

When they play United I hope we obliterate them though.

Nope, there's only amateur football close to home. Bray Wanderers, UCD or Wexford FC are the closest teams to where I live but I'd have no connection to them and they're all fairly shite anyway.

Recently moved to France and went to a few Ligue 2 games here in Brest towards the end of the season. It was a lot of fun, though admittedly helped by the fact they were doing well and actually ultimately got promoted to Ligue 1 next year. Only attended 3 games, a loss, draw and win which was weirdly shaky for a second placed team. I'm looking forward to next season though. Bought a season ticket and it'll be nice to see a lot of teams and players I know coming to town.

Red Bull NY. If they play United in a friendly I'd just hope no one got hurt. If they played each other in the Club World Cup, well, the amount of things that would have to break right for that to even be on the table is so titanic it doesn't even merit thinking about.

No, I don't have a local team. In a way Utd was my 'big league team', who I didn't support, but liked to watch/follow. Then in 1985, my main team at the time had a major stadium fire and I was in the middle of it (but escaped completely unharmed and without PSTD (so was very lucky) and I've only been back twice, felt uncomfortable (too many people died within 20 meters of me. too many ghosts.....).

I drifted into supporting Utd the following season, at the end of the Atkinson era and was fortunate enough to see the SAF era from the start. Even though times are not the best, I'll stick with my adopted team through tick and thin.

Theres only one Jesper Olsen!!
Born and live in Barnsley so follow their results and feel a tribal commitment to them when they play any local teams i.e. Sheffield or Leeds but do not consider myself a supporter and would be 100% behind united every time they played each other as that is my club and always will be

Stockport County.

I highly doubt they will ever play each other but I’d want united to trounce them 15-0.

I keep an eye on county and go to 2/3 games a season but that’s it.

Yep, Västerås SK. The team for which I and Lindelof played for when we were kids  Someone turned out better then the other one:D

I'd want United to win, probably a 10-0 beating. They'd need the confidence boost.

Crystal Palace. An ex-player is a family friend and Selhurst Park is within earshot so I used to go there a lot. Was happy for them when they came back up and every season that they've managed to stay up since. Still hope United smash them every time without a doubt and was delighted when we grabbed Zaha (sigh), although the FA Cup final was different as Palace were the only team that it wouldn't have hurt as much to lose it to for me.

Yep, Kim Book it was, I remember one of the goals, when Best shimmied his hips as he went through on goal, and Kim Book dived, Best just took the ball to the line and flicked it home. He looked a bit fed up by then did Besty, so it must have been one of the later goals.

Redbulls are a New Jersey team with no connections to New York. NYCFC... Not supporting a City surrogate. And I'm definitely not supporting a Boston team.

FC Den Bosch, the club I grew up with - as I am from the area. First club I ever followed, first club I ever saw play live, first pro player I met on the pitch was from there... And the club I vowed never to set foot in the stadium again, after the most dire game I ever saw: FC Den Bosch - Excelsior, 648 paying spectators in a 20.000 seater stadium.

Oh, the chances of them ever coming up against Man Utd are virtually non-existant. If it would happen, though, I’d root for the underdog and for nostalgia.

Some other teams I do have a soft spot for (because I lived there), like Union Berlin or Schalke. From some of the other cities where I lived I somewhat dislike the clubs, like FC Köln, or FC Basel, or Ajax. The last one could be down to living in Rotterdam atm.

In what world would you support your local second team against your first team? Wouldn’t that just make your local team your first team? :houllier:

Brann Bergen in Norway. I actually supported a different Norwegian side for a long time (but not even close to the same affection I have for United), but after studying there for 3-4 years I became a fan.
