He's a good league keeper but PSG could probably win their league without anyone in goal. Even when he was at his best, his reputation wasn't that high on the continent.

Perception of him as a world class player has taken a real downturn, Spanish fans don't want him as their number one and he has been dropped by Spain for Kepa.
He’s been in poor form this year but it changes nothing really.

I think once the speculation is over he will settle down back to being world class.

What's this nonsense about staying for a year unless we give him a part of the transfer fee? If true, we should tell him that we're happy to bench him for a year and take the loss. Can't have players not just running down contracts but now asking for money to not do so on top.

Wait, what? He wants a portion of the transfer fee? No doubt he also wants to not hand in a transfer request so he gets the laughably named loyalty bonus, maybe we should throw in a goodbye blowjob from each season ticket holder as well. If that's true that he asked for that the mercenary grasping little fecker can feck off to the reserves for the season.

I somehow doubt that but I wouldn't but it past the creativity and greed of today's agents.

This will never happen. It might of had it not been a international competition in the same summer. Euro 2020 taking place. If he get no game time do not think he make the Spain team for Euro 2020.

He be almost 30 by the time euro 2020 comes a long. So could be his last chance of a try for euro glory for Spain.

I'm bored of DDG, regardless of his qualities. Just get rid. Will also never forget the instances where he shows what a coward he can be when his body's on the line.

Him and Raiola. Must be a nightmare to deal with.
These people turn me off of football so much. if not for my love for United, I would stop watching the game. I don't think it deserves its fans. The greed and everything when most fans live from pay cheque to pay cheque and still support club, players everything, just depresses me.

Different world these days. The amount of money in the game is staggering. United have monetized just about every aspect of the club to the point that we're no longer a football club but a marketing operation. Martin Edwards, one of the greediest bastards ever to draw breath, opened the door for this and made a killing.

That report is absolute nonsense, as if we'd let a player do that to us  he'd be training alone and left to rot if it were true. Would he really risk being left out of the team with the Euros approaching? Especially when his place in the Spain side isn't even guaranteed as it is.

Yeah like who's got the balls to put him in the reserves? Ole? He wouldn't even drop him even though all conventional wisdom called him to be benched. It was clear as day he was a liability in the run up to those games to try and get top four. But no, Ole stuck with him. So who's got the balls then?
No wonder the players take the piss out of us because no one is there to lay down the law.

If all he wants is to run down the contract in order to get better paid elsewhere, then feck this shite, just bench him for rest of next season. Have had enough of this shite.

He did not cost us top 4.
The team did.
There were quite a few others whose performance was well below standard.
Very few came out of last season with any credit.

I thought top 4 had gone before Ole arrived
We got back in it, then the team threw it away again.

As for him going to PSG surprised and disappointed.
If he won’t sign new contract, sell now, get something for him
Might as well replace now , instead of next year.

He has been fantastic for us, and been paid very well for that.
But if he wants to run his contract down so we get nothing, unless we
give him even more. Then sell now.

He is entitled to seek the best salary he can, wherever he can get it,
It’s a reminder to us that even the majority of our stars see it as a job,
not the way the way most fans see it.

How many times have we seen players kiss the badge, and later move for more money,
Especially, but not only players from further afield.

In his case , good luck, but not impressed by the way he is leaving. ( if it’s true )
This poem doesn't rhyme :(

Here’s a nice little quote from SAF in 2012:

Paul Pogba did really well when he came on. You can't believe he's only 18-years-old. We're negotiating his contract at the moment, but it's a bit complicated because he's changed his agent.
If it wasn’t for Raiola, we’d be £90m richer now and would have gotten 4 more years of prime Pogba.

Agreed. The club needs to show some of this highly touted ruthlessness we keep hearing about. Even if it isn’t true, it’s the second time he’s run his contract down while completely losing his bearings on the pitch.

He should be rotting on the bench all season unless a big fee comes in.

According to Fergie, Mendes is one of the decents agents.

"There are some decent agents, but you don’t need all the fingers of one hand to count them. Jorge Mendes is one. He represents some of the best players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Ángel Di María and Diego Costa. In dealing with Jorge, especially when I was working to keep Ronaldo at United for another year in 2008 when he was pining to go to Real Madrid, I always felt that he was trying to represent the player’s best interests. But Jorge is a rarity."

He cost us the top 4 for me. From the Arsenal game where he inexplicably let in a tame effort from Xhaka, he hasn’t really given us a chance in too many games. As others have said on here, that failing is not only on him, it’s largely on Ole too. Clearly hasn’t the experience of managing world class footballers, and got himself embroiled in a ridiculous argument about ‘loyalty’ to De Gea, instead of being more concerned with the fortunes of the team.

The Arsenal game was so pivotal, and we went behind when we were on top due to his error. The Chelsea game was similarly pivotal, and he threw that one away for us too. Then there was a slew of errors in between.

Whether people want to say he was ‘entitled’ a collapse, and we were compelled to entertain it due to his brilliance in previous years is irrelevant to the fact that the collapse did happen, and it was costly.

It's worrying the level of gullibility in this place though at times. Anyone reads something and they think it's gospel. The amount of lies and absolute rubbish reported in the press far outweighs the actual truth.

"Nobody is indispensable", isn't that what they say?
David's agent believes he's as near to that as it possible to get at United at this particular juncture, also David hired the agent so its not like this is being done, "but not in my name" of course its in his name, that's what he hires the agent for! So the agent is now using this unique situation (as he sees it) to screw the employer for more money, not an unusual case, certainly not in professional football. The question is will the employer cave in? If we do then Ole might as well go back to his old club, and Ed can switch the lights off when he leaves as well.
This is clear nonsense and if it is actually being sought then United should throw De Gea, his agent and anyone else involved out of OT and give them a life time ban. An old boss of mine use to say "don't be away/ask for too much, for too long they might find they can do without you".

If the reports about Oblak are true we should try and get him. We should withdraw the recent offer we made De Gea as he doesn't seem serious about committing to us.

Agreed. Oblak currently looks a much safer bet than De Gea who's been shaky for around 18 months now. There is no way of knowing if he will get his confidence back to the same levels. And I wonder if he will be the same keeper in his 30s since his game is so reliant on insanely quick reflexes.

Oblak is the best keeper around right now would be a sure bet for 5-7 years.

True, plus he's had plenty of time to sign a new deal and he hasn't. We should do what Arsenal did with Ramsey and just withdraw the offer.

That was a ridiculous decision from them though and one that bite them when Ramsey started making all the noises that he did want to stay

I think they withdrew their offer because he was asking for too much money, they had the right idea but the timing was poor.

Demands can be lowered though. To remove the renewal completely is cutting your nose off to spite your face.

De Gea should be given the option to stay until his contract ends, only change in that is if we can get good money for him this summer and replace him with someone like Oblak for 20-30m more. One things for sure we cannot go into next season with Romero as our number 1
