If we werent clueless in developing players, rather signing their potential replacements for out going players on lower fees.

Edit: Actually scratch that, in our case it would be same shit different package.

If we can't get AWB for £45+add ons I'd move on to Aarons, £60M would be a joke and this guy is going to be a beast.

Agreed. 60m for a player who just had 1 good season is lunacy

He’s who I’d thought we might target, but him and loan him back with the option of bringing him back in January?

Seems a lot more like Dalot that AWB. I would rather we went with AWB.

Palace can keep AWB, sell Zaha...and with the percentage we get from Zaha, we buy Aarons...
If it was only that simple..

I like him but I don’t think he’s anywhere near as accomplished as AWB yet. He always looks a bit slow in his decision making and not as strong defensively

Aarons would be a really good buy but he's obviously further behind in his development than AWB. Would need Dalot to step up, rely on Young or play 3 at the back.

He needs to go to Leicester first. We can buy him next year for 75 million.
Then the people who complain about us getting linked to Championship players can complain about why we never find these players before they're already established and cost a fortune

Cue the 'Championship player' police...
I'd be delighted if we just bought 5-6 top young Championship players for our positions of need. Much better than buying washed up former stars like we've done for years.

Better going forward though. Probably a better passer as well from the bits I've seen of him.

Saw some clips and he looks absolutely superb on the ball. Like a gifted young attacker on the ball. Question is how good is he in terms of physicality, decision making, attitude and actual defending. He looks a bit tiny.

So either it is Max Aarons, an attacking fullback, or it is AWB, a defensive monster. Seems like we have no plan on how to play next season. Lets just buy some players and see how it turns out.

They are both good all around FBs who can attribute in attack and defense.

Secure the option to buy Aarons and Godfrey next summer. Let them play for Norwich this season and continue their improvement in a stable and developing training environment. And then, when/if we get a new manager/rebuilding/whatnot, we can bring them in.
Aarons and Godfrey's transfer value have a chance to go up tremendously after a season in the PL. They will probably try to hold on to them this summer.

And we already have Dalot and Laird. Laird and Aarons are very similar in built and abilities.
I'm not saying that they are bad options, as we should seriously consider buying them, but their strengths as players are in different areas on the pitch.
If we are planning to play defensive counterattacking football next season, then having fullbacks that are defensively good (AWB/Shaw) would suit the way we play. Aarons would not particularly fit this style of play as he is better in an attacking team that is dominant on the ball.

Just because we're in for two different sort of RB's hardly means we have no idea how we're going to play. Both are high potential young English players and would be expected to improve on their weaknesses. These sort of signings show a step in the right direction imo.

Most likely, but getting "first option" for a fee or buy/loan back could potentially benefit both teams. Norwich needs money to strengthen their team, our potential players can get experience and development.

It’s pretty clear every top team uses fullbacks as attacking outlets. We will be no different if we get AWB or Aarons, they’ll both need to contribute offensively and defensively

Strictly speaking even if we got awb then Aarons would still make sense if you consider we'll have to replace Ashley young at some point.

What happened with this place? Few months ago rumours about James, Longstaff, Aarons...would cause total meltdown here( and with that dozens of good jokes). Now people react positively on every Championship player.

Can we get both? AWB to defend, MA to attack, and we have right side soreted. Or not.
