TBF he's holding his shoulder in the video above. Might have injured it or something which prevented him from moving ? Looked that way to me. Yeah he's very heavy and barely moves anyway but this video looks like more of a problem in his shoulder.

That's a good point actually, think it was the first half he landed awkwardly on his shoulder/collar bone.

Quiet damning the other player is Heskey. I can’t believe Lukaku cost £90 million.
Strictly speaking, he initially cost £75m only reaching £90m with addons, whether he actually achieved those targets we'll never know.

You maybe right there, you know. A self-inflicted shoulder strain. It is known in the medical profession as 'repetitive pointing - to deflect blame - syndrome'.

Definitely on I would bin.has moments where I like him but his inate lack of ability to control the ball along with his disgraceful fitness means I just don't want to see another season of him.

Think we would need to swap him for someone.

75 million is ridiculous fee for a guy that is limited; I can’t believe we bought Carrol.

Worst of all Carrol can actually head the ball and Lukaku can’t. :/

I was about to make a joke about his shoulder getting injured from all the pointing he does, but it’s already been done

Needs to go vegan.
Hallelujah! Seriously.

(Highly recommend The Game Changers documentary for any athletes here that think they need more animal protein to be at their peak fitness. It's all bs. Nice anecodote: Roman warriors used to be called the barley men for all the grain and vegetables they consumed. )

I thought he was excellent in the first half. In the second half we ran out of gas as a collective. I think the criticism is alittle over the top if I must say.

I've just by chance watched a quickfire clip of all Lukaku's goals for United and I have to say, it's fairly obvious that he thrives on a certain type of chance and not so much on others.

If you look at his chances converted, you see the majority of them are headers or finishes when the ball is bobbling around in the box. The proble is, we ask him to play with his back to goal as a focal point and it's never going to suit him.

The other big issue I have is if we do sell Lukuku, I guarantee he will score 20+ goals for his new club next season....who out of our forwards is going to get that many?

He may not be a perfect striker but he is by far the best goal scorer we have.

Indeed selling him this summer should not be a priority especially if we're selling at a loss

Just not enough of them, or any at all against other top 8 sides, and to the enormous detriment of our overall attacking play.
We used him as target man( Jose) and as roaming striker(Ole). He is not that. Play him as poacher and you will get goals

Proper footballing sides don't use poachers any more, it's a waste of a body. And that's assuming we're talking about a poacher who is actually prolific. Lukaku is far from prolific, even back when he wasnt obese and shot of confidence.

Lukaku poaching is one less player to join the team press when we dont have the ball, and one less player to stretch the play by making runs when we do have the ball.

Interesting Lukaku in and around the box facing goal with people that spot his movements and it would seem he can score goals.

I can't tell if people are serious about these goals for Belgium being relevant?

A United striker should be and will be judged only on what he does for United. He could score 5 goals against Scotland, it means nothing.

Look I dont really have an issue with Lukaku.I just found his inability to sort his feet out quite funny.
Well done to the guy.He scored 2 goals against Scotland.

Under a tree.
You could replace Lukaku with almost any starting striker in the PL in this Belgium team and they would score just as many as him.

Anyone using playing for Belgium as a basis for how good he is should be punished by rewatching all his 2000+ minutes this season via player cam

He scored twice though didn't he? In the meantime posters are swooning over Daniel James for running in straight lines and putting in average crosses against Hungary
Movement! The most used word in Caf in 2018, 2019. Goals and assists are overrated

If he is our striker he can't ever play with inverted forwards.

If he is our striker we need a whole bunch of traditional wingers who spend their time alongside wingbacks crossing the ball in to Lukaku.

Forget the players quality - but the way the lad plays his football Would Lukaku have worked for City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid during BBC, PSG, Dortmund?

The only clubs that suit him from top clubs are Chelsea & Tottenham due to them permanently relying on big strong attacking focal points and also Juventus during their madzukic stage or other Italian teams. Considering Bayern did go for Lewandowski, Lukaku might have worked but Robert has plenty more ability that Romelu.

The guy is a great goalscorer - but he requires a different type of team to get the best out of him. Depends if we want that or not.

Belgium would be better in international tournaments if they had a forward that interlinks the rest of the team. Instead they have the likes of de bryune, Hazard, witsel, carrasco, dembele, meunier, tielamans - literally everyone creating chances for Lukaku.

The only time I had seen something resembling Belgium's golden generation was when de bryune played as a false 9 in the WC whilst Lukaku was out.

That looked like a proper team.

Bayern got rid of Gomez who scored for fun and scored for Germany too.
Now take into context where we are as a team. Lukaku is far from the problem.

Give over ffs. This sort of post is everything that’s wrong with redcafe. Preferred player gets criticised, deflects by having a go at non-preferred player

Good goal scorer vs decent/poor teams in patches but overall play isn't good plus his attempt to look like Mark Henry has highlighted his weaknesses even more.

He should only be sold If we get a replacement.
