Jonathan Woodgate, about to be named Boro manager.

I could have sworn he passed away a few years ago in tragic circumstances

Nope. In 2000 he was convicted of assault outside a nightclub in Leeds. Lee Bowyer, who was allegedly the instigator and faced more serious charges, got off.

A very classy but hopelessly injury prone defender. Can’t see him as a manager at all.

Gelson Fernandes - Swiss player I believe who was meant to be fantastic. Played at City

Manuel Fernandes - was at Everton and played well in a game against Arsenal

Is that the one that played against us with a broken leg?

Serdar Tasci

Bundesliga champion, former captain of VfB Stuttgart and German international who disappeared with his transfer to the Russian league, briefly reappeared for a short loan with Bayern Munich, disappeared again to Russia and is now apparently playing for Erdogan's club.

Blerim Dzemaili, Valon Behrami

Always bought these two when I played FM with lower league teams.
Behrami is still a regular in Serie A at Udinese. Was shocked when I checked when he had that season at West Ham, 2008.

From that Swiss era was always confusing Behrami and Tranquillo Barnetta who was also in Serie A at the time.

Another FM legend for smaller clubs in the earlier editions.

Manuel Fernandes actually did an OK career. Not a world class player, but a good player nonetheless.

Jefferson Farfan. Apparently he's doing good in Russia after spending 2 years barely playing in the Middle East.

Played for Peru at last world cup.

Sort who'd have done very well in the premier league imo. Surprised no one tried to tempt him when he was at Schalke.

I played PES and using Fulham a lot.
I liked using two strikers, a big man with good header (you know him) and a speedy (usually small) striker (Radzinski). Steed Malbranque on the RM, Louis Boa-Morte on the LM. That's my guaranteed 4 front.
Papa Bouba Diop and Claus Jensen at CM.
Voltz, Bocanegra, Zat Knight, Liam Rosenior (still playing?), Collins John, Heidar Helguson, Legwinski, Cristanval. Had very good goalies in Antii Niemi and an American gk I forget his name.

Where’s the next big thing Nathan Delfouneso playing these days? Think I vaguely recall a Caf debate regarding him and his tekkers.

I wanted to comment "who could ever forget these guys?", but looks like horsechoker answered that question.

Remember finding that 'goals goals goals' video a few years back. Showing my age here

Andy Sinton, England's answer to the left wing. Darren Caskey? David Hirst, MUFC bound if rumours were true at the time. Danny Cadamattari - another highly rated young England player in the making...

Matty Etherington

Kim Kallstrom, Fenedi George...they are all coming back into my head now

They changed some names. Minanda used to be Miranda in ISS:PES2

edit: I remember my first purchase was always R. Carlos, i'd put him as a winger and just spam the ball to him

Are those guys real? Seems more like a team of FM regens.
Their names looked familiar but I wasn't sure if They existed... maybe I had forgotten about them until I saw a KONAMI logo. :wenger:

Espinas is my favorite, probably the only one with good long shot
When I first played the game I thought Cellini was Giorgio Chiellini. They're all shites! but thanks to them I (sort of) fulfilled my dream to build a dream team (which didn't include them at all).

Good tactic as that's all you needed, speed demon + wicked shoots.

I think it was Miranda in Winning Eleven as well. :D

I used play 442. Never knew anythhing else existed back then. My front 2, when I eventually worked my way to it, was Brazilian Ronaldo on the right of the front 2 with Carlos on the left. They were a baldy scoring dream
